Bards at the Top of the World

So I'm considering a trip to Pinefar.. I'm told one of the effects there is your weapon can freeze to your hand. Does this happen to sonics?

Any other tips for a bard up there in snowville?

Stronghold. I started hunting there at level 54. Just stay away from the shaman, they'll be instant death for a few trainings.

Just for reference, 20 climbing ranks is a nice even number for Pinefar.

... I love my home (Icemule/Pinefar), BUT the Top of the World is SO boring ... You may be different though, and decide its fun.

Haven't played this OHE bard in a long time my AS 354 after signs/songs/sonic blade/and 509.

So I hunted up there for a couple of hours. I

Tigers were pretty easy - Lullabye & hack
Elementals were really tough
Seekers were tough
Golem were really tough

Any recommendations on how to hunt these more effective PLEASE?

I'm almost singled in airlores and like to use my sonic weapon but they don't work well on the ice critters.

My training looks like this:

Armor Use 30 (0.6X) - just using brig
Shield Use 53 (1.0X) need all this if I 1x in dodge?
Edged Weapons 106 (2.0X)
Combat Maneuvers 53 (1.0X) which cmans do you recommend?
MCombat 5 (0.1X) I heard a little helps out some
Physical Fitness 53 (1.0X) is all this necessary.. I'm getting no redux
Dodging 53 (1.0X)
Climbing 30 (0.6X)
Swimming 10 (0.2X)
Perception 26 (0.5X) not even sure if I need all this
First Aid 53 (1.0X) - stupid i know he can't skin for his life up there
Trading 53 (1.0X)
Harness Power 53 (1.0X)
Minor Elemental 19 (0.4X)
Bard 35 (0.7X)
Air 39 (0.7X)
Manipulation 13 (0.2X)

plus another question for hunting up in the pinefar. Since the ice elementals and golems cause your sonic weapon to dissipate & normal weapons get all frozen, what type of weapon is most effective? Do fire elemental weapon resist the ice completely?

Yeah fire flaring weapons don't freeze at all.

Even the weapons that do freeze ... its nothing horrible ... takes alot efore it hurts your hand.

I've actually never had it hurt my hand, but I try to swap out amongst three weapons.

Since I am bonded to my weapon, and have wspec1 at 5 ranks to the same blade, I don't swap out at all. Hence the reason why I can on occasion, get my hand hurt, but like I said, it takes alot.

My ranger has only began hunting in Pinefar this past week. She's only 42 trainings, but has no real trouble with the bears, tigers, glacei, and mammoths. Can't hit those dratted wraiths though. Anyway, don't know if this will help you, but I usually distract the harder critters to lower their defenses a bit before attacking them. I've a bard friend, level 48 or 49, I think, who accompanies me most of the time and the two of us do surprisingly well, all things considered. He e-waves or sleeps swarms and I can mass calm them, if needed, so we can concentrate on one or two at a time. I guess you're hunting different things if you're with the golems or elementals, but I'd think distracting and then sleeping would be your best bet still. Also, don't discredit your skinning abilities. My ranger has been bringing in an average of 12k from skinning per hunt there, with only 1x in FA and survival. It's not a get rich quick scheme, but every little bit helps and it only takes a few moments to skin them. Also, my bard friend and I each have only 25 ranks in climbing and haven't run into any problems in Pinefar thus far. He's explored quite a bit more than I have so far and is the one who advised me to train up from 20 to 25 to get around. I actually think 20 would have worked for me as my ranger isn't nearly as clumsy as his bard, but better safe than sorry.

Tell your bard friend NOT to ewave in the seekers area at the top of the world. 25 ranks of climbing is good, I had 20 but would have preferred 25.

What does ewave do there? I have never had the need to try it. And now I am not sure I should.

causes avalanches

I noticed when i was overhunting and using ewave there it caused avalanches almost everytime. Now I am like level and it rarely causes an avalanche. Maybe like 1 every 5 times. I could be super lucky but maybe level plays a part in this two.

Weird, although I wouldn't discount it in GS4. Seems like a weird bit of code though.
