Honestly, when it comes to weapons and armor etc, etc I'm pretty clueless!
Can someone put it into layman's terms why I would prefer one over the other? I've currently got 6x or 7x fusion doubles with two orbs that are benefiting her attack, but I'm looking at 8x hcp t5 doubles.
Please someone educate me! I looked at GS Wiki and I get the general idea of what ensorcell is. I just need someone to tell me why one vs the other with a more educated opinion than my own.
Thank you ahead of time for your advice!

Well the good news is that fusion and ensorcell are compatible so you can have both!

They aren't mutually exclusive. You can have fusion and have ensorcell. In your example, you would be trading 2 fusion slots for already done HCP and already completed T5 ensorcell. You could get your fusion armor to have HCP and T5 ensorcell. You will probably never get that 8x armor to have fusion slots.

It does not need to be fusion or ensorcell, you can generally ensorcell fusion gear.
You would instead choose the 8x hcp t5 doubles mostly because of the heavy crit padding, the higher enchant, and the -10 CvA (equivalent to +10 TD) when cast upon.
Or you can have your fusion one ensorcelled and enchanted and padded and one day try to add a different armor mechanical script, like ethereal armor, forest armor, Voln armor, or Ithzir armor. Or even a fluff script if you don't too much.

Is it necessary (or easier to ensorcel) fusion gear by removing the enhancement orbs first? Or can they just stay in the fusion items and it doesn't affect the T1-T5 ensorcel difficulty?

Necessary depends on the ensorceller but it will make it more difficult if the orbs are in it. With a powerful enough sorc it may not make any difference in their chances though.

Ok! So on that note. How do I go about getting my current leathers ensorcelled? Is there someone in particular I can go ahead and just reach out to? Also: what about increasing the enchant? How do I know if it's something a wizard can't do or needs to be done by a merchant?
Again, thank y'all kindly! That's already been a huge help.

;chat on merchant Looking to buy a T1 ensorcell for 7x fusion armor.
Ensorcell is a service that sorcerers who know 735 can provide. THe more spell knowledge a sorcerer has the more difficult items they will be able to ensorcell. Look to pay 2m for T1, 3m T2, 4m T3, 5m T4, and 6m T6.

You can enchant fusion up to 7x by normal player means (technically CAN go higher with expensive/very rare potions but 7x is the standard player cap). The enchant process will again be made more difficult with orbs than without. Duskruin starts on Friday and you can get auto-enchant certificates (+5) or the rare 8-10x potions (NOT CHEAP!). I would suggest getting as much player possible work done before pushing the certificates on it though.

Nope, there is no pre-temper potion for over 7x fusion. A player can only take fusion armor to 7x max.

So Duskruin would be my best bet to increase the enchant? How do I go about getting padding? I'm sorry for the dumb questions! Thanks again for amusing me!

Padding will be available at Duskruin. it will be a different pricing system this time around, but +10 fresh padding last time started at 50,000 bloodscrip. Weighting and padding will be scaling this run, so the price will go up each time it is purchased. I recommend buying bloodscrip now if you are interested, as prices on the open market will continue to climb until the high end shop opens.

Yes, best bet for quick cost effective enchant (under 8x). It seems from his post that only padding and weighting will be on the unknown cost/scale automated system and so enchant should be a certificate in the High End Scrip Shop for 25K-50k bloodscrip. Since you've never been you probably won't get the 25K price and by the end of the week it'll be closer to 50K.
You can only work on an item once per run so padding on the same armor will likely be through premium points, if you have any. If not, you can try to buy use of someone else's saved points but would need to hand the item over to them until the service is complete (can take up to 2 weeks).

I recall Wyrom saying the enchant chits would no longer be available after they were released last run. I would be happy to be wrong.
Also, for premium point work, the item only needs to be handed over when the scroll is first picked up from Sadies. The item can then be handed back to the owner. The scroll will be unreadable, but it can still be updated and actioned by the merchant. The scroll holder will receive a a message that the scroll has been updated, and at that time the item can be handed back to make the scroll readable and to complete the service.

I thought Wyrom just said only the padding would scale in cost.

Nope
The only scaling costs for this run are with weighting/padding. Making everything scaling and automated takes a lot of work. Certificates will still exist, but we're slowly phasing them out.
As for more details, it's coming. Things are starting to roll out of QC, I'm not a fan of announcing things that won't be ready. I'll work on a primer as soon as I can.

Nope
Well yeah weighting as well, but that didn't apply with armor =P

Oh I get the question. No he meant only those two (padding only for armor) would scale through whatever new automatic system.
Enchant (if offered) and most other certs have scaled for a few runs now (since the scrip shop).

I mean that is how precedence has been.
I would greatly love it if meant an end to scaling, but I assume the question was regarding the new automation (and that they haven't gotten to the other services).

No enchant in the high end shop this run, based on Wyrom's latest post.
