I think she is a pretty kitty, and she obviously loves you, Caels. I will bet she was purring up a storm.

HarmNone likes the kitty

Caels

She was mad at me today for leavin her alone all day. I haven't left my house in about 2 months, so me being gone long enough to watch a movie and talk to a few friends at the local coffee shop was bad for her.

She was at the door crying when I got home. Picked her up and she instantly started purring, one of the loud ones too. Next time I'll just sneak her into the theater with me.

HarmNone

Heeee! Caels, I do love you! You are good from nose to toes!

HarmNone wonders if the kitty will get to pick the film

Caels
09-11-2003, 11:36 PM
lol, only if she tells me before we get out of the truck, I wouldn't be able to have her decide as I go to buy the ticket.

Kitties, like women, are entitled to change their minds. Never feel too secure. :D

I used to sneak my kitty into school and football games! He was so cute and he'd hide in my sweaters cause he was just content to lay anywhere.

Caels
09-11-2003, 11:43 PM
Yeah, Baby's the same way. I call her a ragdoll cat. She lies wherever I put her. My room mate used to be mean to her and spin her around in the kitchen floor, then laugh because her head would jerk back and forth while she was dizzy.

I have to admit I laughed, but that doesn't mean I wanted him to do it. He's in Iraq now anyhow and I'll be moving before he comes back... not likely I'll see him ever again.

GSLeloo

My kitty died. And then we got rid of our other cat cause the dog tried to eat her a few times (we gave her to my aunt and she's uber happy now).

Caels
09-11-2003, 11:47 PM
I split and moved it since we got a little off the subject...

Anyhow, here is a picture of Baby telling me she wants something.

Hmmmph. The evil roommate will suffer Kitty Karma. There is no worse punishment. His will be a life of torture and damnation, and his afterlife will be spent up to his armpits in angry cats. :D

HarmNone does not pity him

I have a dog. She sleeps with the cat. She thinks the cat is her mother. The cat disagrees, vehemently. ;)

Since we are posting cat pics, here is Sal and me with facial hair. Circa 1999, NYC. I had to give him up when I moved. Saddest thing I have ever had to do.

PS. Thats the Drew Berrymore Boxing bus poster photo behind us. I scored it because I worked for the company that produced it. rowr...

Oh I have kind of a funnyish story... Last year it was my fathers birthday and we were all out to dinner (my mom, brother, his mom and sister) and somehow the topic of their childhood came up. They ended up getting to the fact that when they moved from England to america when my dad was 7, they had to "give up" his cat Mimi. I mean, my dad really loved this cat cause he still told me stories abut her like 45 years later. Well anyway... at this birthday dinner my grandma ends up telling them no, she didn't give the cat away like she had lied and said... she had it put down. I think my dad and aunt didn't talk to her for a week. And they still bring it up on holidays.

As I said before, dogs tend to attack me. Only kind of dog I'd really ever get is an Alaskan malamute. The whole half-wolf half-husky thing is just too cool.

And cats do a lot more than that if you treat them right. They actually return favors, sometimes in all the wrong ways though. One time when I was a teenager my cat brought me a snake still alive. My mom flipped out, but I appreciated the gesture, if not the gift.

And I could play with my cat for hours with a laser pen or a feather.

The cat died and the other we gave away. Plus, as soon as we got her the cats had to move into the basement cause she liked to play chew toy with them.

He's a Plott Hound.

The darker dog, Abbie, is a Plott Hound/Walker mix.
http://www.akc.org/dic/events/perform/coonhounds/index.cfm?page=7

They're both types of hunting dogs. I'm guessing that some redneck's dog popped out some puppies and the asshole just ditched them on the side of the road. One was lucky enough to find a home.

Dogs and cats are soooo cute when they're just lil puppies and kittens. You want to pick them up and just squeeze them. I remember my Smokey when I first got her. Like 3 weeks old and simply adorable. *cries* I miss her :(

Does anyone own an ugly dog or cat. Everyone here has cute dogs and cats (Even though I HATE cats.) I was just wonder if anyone OWNED a ugly dog, and yes I said owned so don't go run off to some website and download one.....

Ugly is dependant upon who's looking, I guess.

For example, I know lots of people who love dobermans and pit bulls. I think they're ugly as sin.

But the UGLIEST dog EVER in my opinion...is...I think pugs? (I could be wrong, I'm not totally up on the breeds) ...the little stubby ones with the smashed faces. I atleast think dobermans and pit bulls are cute puppies...but those stubby smashed face ones are ugly even as pups. BUT that's just my opinion. I know people who hate cocker spaniel puppies and think they are gross...I think they're gorgeous.

I agree. But I was just wondering if anyone had a dog that everyone but them thought was cute. Like my cousin's dog is ugly as anything. It's one of them... ummm... I don't know what they are called but they look like a big fat ball of wrinkles. Anyway, he loves the dog but everyone says the dog is so ugly. I was just wondering if anyone had a dog that everyone thought was ugly, but them of course.

Yorkies are keen dogs, but they're crazy expensive. There was one here in a pet shop that cost $1500. I gave the clerk my best look of "$1500 FOR A DOG!?!", and I was politely informed this one had a microchip. A cyborg dog, excellent.

I'm going to stick to getting my pets from the pound and finding them along the roadside.

Psh, never ever ever ever ever ever ever EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER buy a dog or cat from a pet store. Not only are they hideously overpriced, but they're often abused into being neurotic, bred in puppy mills with minimal health care and disease checking, and the vets that give them the shots are often bribed and careless to pass a sub-standard animal that will give you nothing but heartache and probably die within the year.

That said, sure there are exceptions but why take the risk? If you definitely want to get a purebred animal, you need to find a breeder in your area and go directly to them. There's alot more choice in personality and looks, they're usually alot cheaper (unless you're going for a potential champion show animal) and the breeders (the good ones) usually have buyer contracts.

The contracts often assert to the animal's previous healthcare and the health history of the parents which is very important. Alot of times there are even provisions for the accidental and/or disease-related death of the animal.

Example: When I bought my little bastard of a Jack Russell Terrier, the contract bound me to register him in the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America and neuter him unless for show purposes. In exchange, if something should have happened to the puppy before he aged one year, she would replace him as soon as possible. I also have his stud certificate and his breedlines for the last five generations.

...ahem. I'll shut up now. Just the overbreeding, irresponsible ownership, and abuse of animals is a huge pet peeve of mine.

Adhara

Cannelle was from a professional, caring breeder that lived near us. She cost 500 canadian if memory serves. All pure breeds go for about the same price here. I'm sure there are exceptions but we didn't notice yorkies to be overpriced compared to the rest. My mom had been dreaming about a yorkie for years. Cannelle is exceptionally smart and know how to use her adorable look to her advantage too! :)

Me I've been dreaming of a basset hound for years. I know they're aren't the smartest but I think they are just so cool!

Also, I forgot to mention that the microchips are becoming more and more common. In fact, my boyfriend and I adopted a rescued kitty 10 days ago and when we took her to the vet, we were asked if we wanted her microchipped!
