Yeah, don't respect George Washington, Abe Lincoln, FDR.... Come on now...... I hate this kind of talk. I know people are going to argue about this, but wars are nessacary sometimes, and sometimes the are unavoidable. I'm sorry some people feel that we should never fight a war or never risk an American life, but not everyone feels this way. I'll tell you another thing, I really did enjoy Bush's tax cut, and so did my parents.

When I first arrived on this planet, I saw a farmer and said, "Take me to your Leader". When I saw George W. Bush, my first thoughts were, "You have got to be kidding." He poked at me with a stick and said, "What country are YOU from? I don't think we've had a chance to bomb you yet."

In regards to Strayrogue's list.. I just find it amusing that the list was written up to make Bush look bad. I'm not saying whether Bush is good or bad, I just find it funny because a list is always written up like that for every single president we have. Point being? Each president, regardless of which country they're from, breaks their word and does stupid shit. You can't just make up a list of bad things and leave it at that or else every single person on this earth would look like the spawn of Satan.
As for the Bush Sr/Jr Austin Powers pic, I still find the Dubya/monkey facial expression comparison to be the funniest of em all. :P

Steves list of great things bush as done:
Going to Afghanistan
Going to Iraq.
War is not a great thing. I am not saying it is, but there was no two ways around either situation. The UN is a group of snails who with no doubt in my mind should have immediately said lets go get them. Therefore leaving Bush and the US no choice but to go it without the UN's backing. And Stray, your country went. Why? because Tony knew it was the right thing to do. I think more people knew it was the right thing to do, than are willing to admit it. Yes people die when you go to war, but think about how many people were dying yearly, no wait, lets go with daily under saddams regime??? The US did everyone in Iraq, aside from the ba'thists(sp?) a favor.

Tendarian, Tony is very charismatic. Please understand that the reason people are so incense now about him was because initially we didn't want war. Eventually he won the opinion polls and went anyway. He PROMISED us he had evidence of WMD in Iraq; a worthy and just cause to go to war. However, it turns out they lied to us. It all depends on your view. Why should a woman be able to choose if she chose to have sex? Oh and I'm sure we are going to have the rape issue brought up too.... so I'll get that done too. Yes if a woman is raped, it is a very VERY sad thing, and I feel sorry for the woman. However does that give her to right to decide that a baby has to die? It is her body, but it's not just her body she's effecting...........

And, I really don't care how or why a woman got pregnant, it's her right to do as she chooses with her body. I don't believe in abortion as a form of birth control. However, I do believe that's a woman's choice to make. I"m not saying it should be covered by insurance or the government, either.

The ONLY politician I know of that EVER did as he said he would was Jesse Ventura, and the lovely media made him look like a bumbling idiot.

<<Yes, it is just her being affected.>>
No, the baby/fetus is being affected too.
<<If you could remove the embryo, and it could survive, fine. Until the day it can survive on its own, it is no better than a cancerous tumor.>>
That's harsh. Don't have sex if you don't want to get pregnant.
<<<This is what I believe.>>>
I believe sort of what you are saying, except not quite as harsh. I'm just talking about how you are saying how someone thinks the woman shouldn't be able to make all the calls thinks. I see both sides of the arguement. My opinion is that women should be able to have a abortion if:
A. The womans life is in danger.
B. She was rape
C. Severe deformity of the baby.
If you have sex, get pregnant.... sorry. Don't have sex if you can't deal with the result. I don't want a baby, but if I got a girl pregnant, I would do everything I could to convince her to have the baby. I'm willing to deal with what might happen from sex and feel that killing a baby because I screwed up is ridiculous.

The more rules and regulations you put on a thing, the more rules and regulations are going to be skewed, fucked over, scrutinized.
Here's what I mean:
The government could outlaw abortion. HOWEVER... The government should NOT be able to stipulate who can have one, or why.
Why is this? Right to privacy. End of story.

The other thing that ticks me off, is the ENTIRE RESPONSIBILITY falls upon the woman, should she make a mistake and get pregnant, and I don't think that ANY man can really understand what it would be like.
Sure, they can be a real man and take care of what they need to, and be there, etc... but it's still not the same.
A man doesn't have to give birth. A man doesn't have to play housewife. A man doesn't have to do a lot of things. Hell, a man doesn't even really have to pay child support if he wants to.
If you ask me, I would rather abortion be LEGAL and SAFE than have to deal with some crackhead's 40 children needing to be fed, clothed, and educated.
Before you take THIS statement wrong, I also happen to think that people who cannot or will not take care of their own offspring should be castrated, but we all know that's never going to happen, LOL.

She is the one who will undergo the pain, and risk of death, associated with bearing a child. You will not. Additionally, who is going to raise this child, you or she?
There are so many facets to this argument that it could easily be discussed for days. Those who hold one view will not change to hold the other view. It is far too personal for that to happen.

Heres why I think abortion needs to remain legal.
Like Maimara said the crackheads and their 40 kids are only going to make our welfare problem worse than it is. I'm glad some states are finally doing something about it. I'm sick of seeing people who are perfectly capable of holding a job, sitting on their ass getting money from everyone who is working. In my opinion everyone can bag groceries, pump gas, mop floors. There are jobs out there for people who need them.
Welfare needs serious revamping.

Actually, I'm rather enjoying our arguement, except the way Sintik states certain things tends to get me riled up, save for the fact that I KNOW he doesn't mean what he says to sound like an order or the word of God. ;)
Scenario: Your sister gets raped. She gets pregnant.
Four months later, they still haven't found who done it, nor can they prove or disprove her claim of rape.
Nine months later: She has the kid, because her claim couldn't be proved, and there was no trial as there was no defendant.
If we let the government have such control over our lives... I don't even want to think about the consequences...

I'm 22, single, dirt poor. I'm also white. The government will not help me with health care, even though I have aplastic anemia and several other health problems. Yet... were I to get pregnant... and go on welfare... I could have NOT JUST health care, but money. Food. Rent. Tuition.
It's sick. Somewhere along the lines, society went from frowning upon that sort of thing, to encouraging it.
On another note, it's pretty bad here in Minnesota. We have a very 'good' welfare system; people move here from all over to get more money...

Well she shouldn't have had sex then. Don't have sex if you can't deal with the chance of having a baby.
However, if she doesn't want the baby but is willing to give birth, I will take the baby. I didn't say I'd force her to have the baby, it's her choice. But I would try my hardest to convince her to have the baby because I don't think I could ever feel good about myself if a baby/fetus had to die because I screwed up.....

Let me explain before I go to bed. I am sick of seeing young teenage girls(13-18) just so they can move out of the house because they are 'in love' with some boyfriend who will leave them in the next year because he doesn't wanna deal with the kid. This girl as soon as she moves in with her boyfriend gets on welfare, WIC everything she can. She is sucking my tax dollars because of some dumb ass mistake she made. Hell no, get a job, go to school, abort the pregnancy, give the kid up for adoption, send it to relatives who cares. Don't take my money just because you were a moron.
If you are physically unable to work, that is one thing. Then you deserve all the help you can get. But when you are perfectly able to, then you damn well better get a job. I hate lazy pathetic individuals who do nothing but suck money from me and fellow tax payers.
Goodnight.
I am pro-life and I don't think a woman should have any say on if the baby is born or not. It's not her body, it's another individual life growing inside her.
Abortion, in my view, is an act of murder. Period.

With that I will heartily agree, except for one little caveat. If the mother-to-be is 12 or 13 (even younger in some unfortunate cases) and the father-to-be is 18 or over, who is the culprit here? The mother is too young to be expected to properly assess her risk.

Here is my opinion:
I dont think its right that only the woman can decide if she gets an abortion. I think if she wants one and he doesnt she should have to bear out her responsibility but not have to pay any child support. On the other hand if he wants her to have one and she doesnt i dont think he should have to pay child support either. I admit these views are a tad weird but sue me.
Btw Maimara... You should apply to Minnesota Care, its kinda like really cheap health care it costs based on what your income is. I had a friend who signed up for it and it costed $4 a month.

Minnesota Care wants over 500 dollars a month to cover me. I'm female, single, white, and my parents (who supposedly still give me money, even though my father died two years ago and my mother is on disability/retirement) income is still included with my own. Which is nil. But because I don't have any brats...

My answer to this is: If the child can survive outside of the womb, then it is another life, and thus ending it would be murder.
But, if the fetus is dependent solely upon the mother... how can you call it an independent life?
WILL it be an independent life? Eventually. But if we were to subscribe to that theory...
Who is to say that the flesh eating bacteria won't some day (millions of years from now) become an intelligent life form? :?::?:

Others can have the opinions that they wish. I would just be much more fond of America if abortion was legally treated as murder and was illegal as such.
First, I'm not married... and if I were, I would be married for the singular purpose of producing a family. Love is wonderful, but for me it is ultimately a means to an end.
There is absolutely no scenario that is even remotely likely that would end with me having to deal with my significant other having an abortion. However, humoring you, should that happen... I would do my damnedest to stop her in any way that I could. If nothing else, I would raise hell and stir up a media frenzy over this controversial topic.
I believe the father should have equal say to the mother... it's his child too. Why do you think fathers bail all the damn time? Why do you think fathers are usually the ones to leave the family?
Cause America is biased. The father is expected to feed and clothe his family... pay child support in the case of a breakup... and yet the mother gets all the glory. Everywhere you look, there's poems to mothers and songs about various rapper and country singers' mommas... you never hear about daddy.
As Chris Rock said, all daddy gets is the big piece of chicken. That's it.
Granted, I grew up without a father and I'm a die hard momma's boy... but look at the way the holidays are set up. Mother's Day is a HUGE business holiday. Gifts and greeting cards get sold like crazy, the postal service getsall busy...
Father's day is more like, "Yeah... whatever. I'll get him a tie and some socks."
Father's day feels like a holiday observed out of guilt more than anything else.
YOUR FATHER IS YOUR PARENT TOO! He brought you into this world as well! If he was a good father, he was there for you just as much as your mother. Just because he didn't carry you and endure labor doesn't mean he loves you any less than your mother. He shouldn't be neglected and overlooked.
Fathers should have the same rights as the mother in regard to the child.

It's a very fundamental disagreement. I believe that abortions are evil and wrong and are basically the snuffing out of the only type of innocent human life that exists... unborn. It's the destruction of potential... the potential to change the world... and that is what I find most heinous of all.

What you do is on purpose, because you want attention. Channeling your real life agressions, anger, and other instabilities into a character is not roleplay.
What you do is bring your cybersexual exploits into public. Which would be fine, were Gemstone the sort of game that condoned that behavior. Unfortunately, though the GameMasters have made it avidly clear "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil = no evil", people like you are still around.
I applaud anyone who tries something new. I frown upon anyone who acts out for attention, and flips out when he or she doesn't get the sympathy/attention/hatred they were looking for.

No offense Maim, but cybersex is very rampant in GS even among the RP elite. I was incredibly shocked by some of the stories I heard during the faire in Asmodea's chat room. Please get me to tell you why Nora is nicknamed Miss Sluicy next time I speak to you.

You know that song by Michelle Branch entitled "You Get Me"?
I won't be playing that for you any time soon.

RP is RP... some is good, some is bad, some is mediocre. If you are good at it, it does not make you better than someone who puts forth an effort but sucks. It simply means you have skill they lack.
I'm not even going to go into the GS chat, but suffice to say I used to go in t here, and since I stopped going in there people have begun flinging rumors at me. Why? Because I speak out against elitism and I think anyone that contributes to it is a jackass.

::sighs heavily:: It makes me sad to think that those who are able to roleplay are considered "elitist". It is they who should be helping those who are trying to learn, not rejecting them. That is part of the joy of it all.

The Electoral College needs to go. Majority Rules.
And the majority of people are morons. :P
I'd much rather have some well-educated people in their field deciding what's best than some average Joe Schmoe deciding who to choose based off some 5 minute commercial from each candidate and that's it.
Most don't like them, but I love people who don't vote. Why? Because they're not one to just toss away their vote for the hell of it. While it sucks they may have not voted for the better candidate, there's less harm in that non-vote than there is in voting for the worse candidate.
And yeah, I know we're both talking about something different but they're still sort of related. Public opinion just isn't the way to go for most things. Sure when something may be for the public, go for it, but when it's more important for the safety of our country, the right people for the job should make the decisions. Think of it in Gemstone terms.. if staff did everything the players wanted, the game would have turned to shit many years ago. Let the players give fluff ideas, but when it comes to game balance and the like, what the GM says goes. Some things are just too important for yes, the public.
Just so you know, I am pro choice, but you do have to see the other side of the fence.....
It's not as if the abortion is being performed during birth. The baby hasn't seen our world yet. It's performed at an early growth period.
For those pro-life people, here's an honest, yet somewhat humerous/offensive, question you do not have to answer, but at least think about it:
"How many times do you masturbate and/or have sex daily/monthly/yearly?"
If you answer just once, you've killed hundreds and thousands of pre-life more than that one abortion. And that is why I don't take pro-life people seriously when it comes to abortion issues. They're a joke.
On another note, it's pretty bad here in Minnesota. We have a very 'good' welfare system; people move here from all over to get more money...
Haha, yeah, there's this one billboard in Mexico that encourges all immigrants to go to Minnesota because of that.
I am pro-life and I don't think a woman should have any say on if the baby is born or not. It's not her body, it's another individual life growing inside her.
Abortion, in my view, is an act of murder. Period.
I believe that abortions are evil and wrong and are basically the snuffing out of the only type of innocent human life that exists... unborn. It's the destruction of potential... the potential to change the world... and that is what I find most heinous of all.
If the fetus isn't her body than she isn't the fetus' body either. It seems they're each violating one another so they should go their own seperate ways. Time for the doctor lawyer to come and rip the fetus out of her body so they're now seperate and can live each others lives themselves. Oh, but first let's see how far that fetus gets. The fetus cannot grow without her body therefor it IS her body. Unless the fetus is a test tube baby or it can grow on it's own without the mother's aid, only then will it be it's own entity. Oh and hey, Darien, how many sperm babies have you killed today?'
I see a not-so-distant future in which a man shall be surgically implanted with a uterus and all necessary fetus-raising equipment. With this equipment, he will go through pregnancy and give birth through a sugically implanted orifice that is too small for the daunting job it has been given (damned engineers, anyway!). Then, the argument will have a solution and all will be right with the world.
Hmm, I'll have to think about this one. The temptation of being able to eat whatever I want without a care in the world and to get away with it is too great. :P
My grandmother often says that if bearing children was the responsibility of both men and women, with men bearing the first and turns being taken thereafter, there would never be more than two children in any family. Great birth control, eh?
HarmNone has a very smart grandmother

I see an overall deterioration in quality control, Darien. Some of the names allowed these days boggle the mind. I also prefer that roleplay be a required element, not simply "encouraged". I do not see much encouragement to roleplay in GS.
I put most of this down to the staggering number of people who play GS. The GMs cannot possibly enforce roleplaying, or much of anything else, when they are so grossly outnumbered.
All in all, it is personal preference. GS just does not offer what I seek.

I find that so sad, but it is not uncommon to hear this. The GMs just cannot see everyone, and are therefore tempted to watch those they know will be roleplaying. I also know that many of them try hard to notice and reward those who are not so well-known. Again, the sheer numbers work against them.

Most remember the "good old days" back when the "true legends" roamed the lands and the HS porch was a place of wonder and mystery.
I remember so many people in game you couldn't move from the lag... people with dumber names than they have even now, a role-play standard remeniscent of Monopoly or Tic-Tac-Toe and a bunch of old farts sitting around on the HS steps complaining about how bad GS has become and stunning anyone who disagreed with them.

Worst enemy over favorite pet? Oh hell no. I'd try and save both, but my favorite pet would be saved first. And yes, even though I know I could only save one. I'd still try and save the second (the human) even though it'd be a failure. I could make an exception to saving the human over one or some of my pets (the turtle, frogs, and fish, heh) but not my FAVORITE one. Sorry, but a dog is a man's best friend so that worst enemy can drown and go to hell. No doggie martyr's here.
I hold grudges and am very spiteful. So if someone is my worst enemy, I literally could care less what happens to them. And if there were no laws against it, I would have no problem killing them. I work with extremes. It's funny, I can be the most caring person in the world yet also be the most cruel bastard as well. Thankfully I lean a lot more towards the good side though.
This is why i would save my enemy. Because no matter how annoying they are, they can shock you and be something else. People dont stay the same shape peg for me to fit them into the holes im trying to put them in.
Hmm, well since you said that second sentence, I can make an exception to saving my enemy over my favorite pet. It would only be if that worst enemy were a girl and I could train her to be my slave as the price for saving her life. Hey, I lost one trained animal, I need another! :P

Then, as the asshole puppy killer splatted messily upon the pavement below, I'd bitchslap whatever traitor in my family was trying to get an abortion since we're all fiercely pro-life and since I was going to jail anyway, drop kick the doctor in the head.

I could make an exception to saving the human over one or some of my pets (the turtle, frogs, and fish, heh)
Promise to let me know if ever your turtle, your fish, or your frog is drowning, Neildo. I shall rescue them myself! :P

Fish are the only animal I condone killing for food.
Not cause I don't like fish, but cause... honestly... nothing beats a really delicious fried fish, or battered Captain D's/Long John Silver's fish either.
Recently we had a fish fry and someone had some REALLY fresh black bass they had caught in Pyramid Lake... they were swimming around in the bucket and everything... I didn't watch them prepare them, but I had some and it was absolutely delectible. ::drools:: Mmmmmmm...

And which President in your lifetime hasn't done any of these things?

I believe in the freedoms I am given by America. I am given the right to speak my mind, including how I feel about my president. Take that away from me and you are taking away my rights and therefore we're no better than any other country. and I have a question, if Hitler was our president, would anyone expect us to be respectful just because he holds the title "President"

Yay!!! I've only been to England once. And it was hot (Which sucked cause i hate the heat and had been hoping for cooler weather). But the weather there doesn't bother me cause fall happens to be my favorite season.

Yeah, we had a very hot summer. Most likely will have a very cold winter as well. Damn Global Warming.

My summer's been pretty good. Basically spring weather the entire time and a lot of storms and the moment it turned September, it went into fall weather. I've been enjoying the breeze. Perfect weather to read...

Heh, over here, the fall is pretty much an insta introduction to Winter. Its damn cold. April-May is the "cool" period.

I prefer the cold. Cause when you get cold, you can do lots to make yourself warm (blankets, soup, hot chocolate) but when you're hot, there's like nothing that helps.

Heh, my philosophy exactly. I am a pale sod, and I burn easily. Plus my furry mane is much more use in the winter.

You want good fish? Go to England and have fish & chips. And not the crappy stuff they give tourists, I mean like... the real GOOD stuff. Mmmmm... my mouth is watering as I type this. ;)

I second that...England is great. I *loved* London when I was there...totally dig the London accents (who would have thought one city could have like 3-4 accent variations)

Omg, only 3-4. Accents are a huge thing in England; it is like the first thing after appearance. There are sooooo many accents and dialects. Its just one of those tell tale signs like "Oh, you have a such and such accent, you must be from here or there, you soft southern fairy/northern monkey".
BTW there is much angst between north and south ;)

LOL Stray--my favorite is (Londoner to say--someone from Manchester or Birmingham) "You stupid Northern git!" (said all sexy like in that West London type accent) *nods*
StrayRogue
09-12-2003, 04:47 PM
lol, that sounds so familiar. The southern accent is much more sharper, perhaps louder and higher. Its the typical "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrells" cockney speak. The northerners are much more broad and deep. They south tough.

Heh, I am moving to the middle, though I am north at the moment, though I have experienced little bits of everywhere. I have been told I have an accent, but I can't tell personally. I try to speak all upper class like. Bottom. etc.

When I went, we went to Devon and Cornwall but spent most of the time in London. We found the BEST Indian food there... some restaurant called something like the Tandoori lilly? Whatever it was, it was so good and that's how my aunt and I became obsessed with Indian food.
StrayRogue

Otherway round my dear...but its in the eye of the beholder. There is lots to do and see in both cities. I dislike Birmingham as its a dirty, industrial complex that is slowly being re-made over. Liverpool has a shit reputation, but the centre is one of the most culturally active places in the country.

OMG!! The *BEST* chicken I've eaten EVER was at this Indian restaurant in London. I forget the name of the restaurant..and the name of the dish, but...it was in this coconut sauce, and had a lil kick to it...some kinda curry I think...not sure though...but it was SOOOO good.

Kind of like a tannish color.
Weedmage Princess
09-12-2003, 05:08 PM
Yeah, tannish white...coconut stuff....*drools* Now I'm going to spend the next hour trying to find some Indian restaurant in Boston.
And I never thought England was a snobby tea-hole!
StrayRogue
09-12-2003, 05:09 PM
Bah, most are tannish!
If it was a bit yellowy, with a hint of coconut, it probably would have been a korma. Low down on the hot-scale ;)

Yeah, see I want to say "white with some kind of lil specs in it" but it was pretty dark in that restaurant so I can't be certain. I do know it was light in color though..like tan *ducks* if that helps. (which I'm sure it doesn't)
