How good are they?
As in, is this something I have been missing out on for years...or are they pretty useless?
Curious on those who actually have purchased and used type-ahead lines on their account...how many do you have, etc.

They were something you'd be concerned about in 1996.

I use 4 and it makes a big difference when using ;go2 (as in ;go2 typeahead=4)
If you're travelling the same speed using only one more power to you but I don't see how.

Are you talking about lich type ahead, or gemstone type ahead?

lich uses however many type ahead lines you have available.
I still think that in 20 something years of playing GS I have never once felt like I needed them, let alone thought of them as something I'd be willing to spend extra money on.

Lich uses how many you set. I always had kine set to 5 and it worked fine with regular the premium type ahead allowances. Buying more with PPs is a waste.

I think I bought an extra type ahead when it was first offered, but its been so long ago I'm not sure if I bought any more than that one. I set typeahead=4 for ;go2 and it seems to work well.

Your go2 should be using at least six!

Agree.
;go2 --typeahead=6
is the command.
As for actual GSIV typeahead, I didn't even know that was still a think. I know non-premium accounts used to be something like 2? to premium's 4? and it made a difference when I was still on dial-up.
EDIT:
It seems the max type-ahead my go2 can handle is 12 before it starts to error out. This allows me, through the scientifically approved method of 1-Mississiping, to travel from TSC to Solhaven's North Market in 6 Mississippis.

Or 7.92 seconds per my iphone's stopwatch. I feel a little let down.

I'll have to play with cranking it up a bunch. I figured if you hit any lag it would fuck up your travel if you went up too high.
As for non go2 typeahead messaging, i've seen it a handful of times in the years i've been playing, but it is definitely infrequent.

I just made a simple wizard script to enter 'look in pack' 15 times en masse and ran it 10 times.
Twice I got:
Sorry, you may only type ahead 2 commands.
Followed by 13 successful looks.
The other 8 times I got the full 15 looks.
I think type-aheads are a non-issue at this point.

Oh wow, I had even forgotten about that "sorry, you may type ahead 2 commands" message. Used to see it all the time, but I can't even remember the last time I got that message.

Lich type ahead eliminates any need to pay Simu for more typeahead. Which I'm pretty surprised they didn't cry over.
