Was always curious about this question... how much money did you spend on Gemstone over the years? Include both official and unofficial (RL money for in-game stuff).

If we're counting money made from GS then I've spent $-474738345834 or something.

I doubt the really high spenders will vote on a public poll though.

Are you counting subscription costs in this, or only extra things (simucoins, buying stuff from other people, events, etc.)?

Everything. Sub + Extras/Frills, through all the years (or decades for some of you) Mainly this is because I'm trying to gauge at what kinda level of simucoins I should buy (when eventually a SIMUCOIN sale happens, cough Wyrom cough).

That doesn't even make sense.

It makes perfect sense. I'm extremely miserly; even if I get that dream home that's literally pulled out of my mind if I overpaid I'll be fucking pissed.

How do you know everyone else isn't just doing it wrong?

It actually doesn't make sense. This wasn't always free to play. People that have been playing WoW for 13 years and never unsubbed have spent around 2.3k on the game. GS moved to the web and charged subs since 1997 which is roughly 3.5k for a basic sub and no add-ons. Say someone did premium the whole time or since it was offered (can't remember when but say 1999ish which is when I came back after the web migration you're looking at a bit over $8600. A few events here and there for I think it was 20-50 bucks a pop if memory serves and it's not a far cry to 10k. If it's something they enjoy it's a static cost really except for the paid events. This new simucoin stuff changes things a bit but last time I played it wasn't a thing yet. For straight subs and someone doing all the events since 97, it's not hard to imagine 10k overall.

I've probably cleared 10k in subs alone between two premium and a basic account. I think there may have been a three year period where I only had one premium account, but toss in some events and some character purchases and I've got to be over 10k.

Oh, and when Shattered came around I eventually added a fourth account for that, plus the extra five bucks tacked on to the other three accounts.

This is a stupid poll. And difficult to answer as most people have spent a lot of money then turned around and sold accounts/characters/gear/silvers. Who keeps track of that over twenty years?

There probably are people that do. For the purpose of this thread here, I only considered money going out. At the end of the day if we were to add sales into the mix, I didn't lose money that's for sure.
