I was on my way to work, and a local radio station had Girl Scouts calling in and they were ordering GS cookies from them. The little girls sounded so cute. I bet they bought 200 boxes by the time it was over.
So what kind(s) is/are your favorite?
Cookie varieties:
Thin Mints (chocolate mint)
Samoas (coconut, caramel and vanilla cookie)
Trefoils (shortbread)
Do-Si-Dos (peanut butter sandwich)
All Abouts (shortbread with chocolate bottom)
Tagalongs (peanut butter covered with chocolate)
Double Dutch (chocolate chocolate chip)
Lemon Coolers (lemon-zest flavored vanilla cookies)
I should probably go with which ones I don't like. (Only a few) ;)
I always buy trefoils, samoas and thin mints.

Tagalongs and Samoas. I hope someone at work has a kid selling them! If not, I just might pop into my old work place and order from a woman who I know is gonna sell them again.

I'm into the thin mints, after they've been stored at the back of the freezer for about two weeks and with a giant glass of milk. And I don't even like chocolate normally.

I prefer Brownies over Girl Scouts, once they get into the teens they get all chewy, usually stringy too.
I don't really get this whole deal, in boy scouts I sold cheese logs and beef sticks to help pay for summer camp, but shit I only needed to sell like $50 worth, these girls are like selling hundreds, where is all that money going?

That would be one of my favorites:

** Where the money goes:
Cost per box: 86 cents
Troop profit: 38 cents
Council funds $1.76
** How the money is spent:
Council funds used for management and maintenance of camps, service programs for girls, special events, leader training, administration and financial assistance to girls.
Troop profits used for individual troop needs and goals.
** Example of a troop’s total cookie sale:
Say Troop #000 sells 2,100 boxes of Girl Scout cookies at $3 a box. The Council receives $5,502 from which $1,806 is used to pay for the cookies. The troop receives $798 for its programs and goals.
Also additional tidbits:
Q: What are the best-selling Girl Scout Cookies?
A: Our biggest sellers are:
25% Thin Mints
19% Samoas®/Caramel deLites™
13% Peanut Butter Patties®/Tagalongs®
11% Peanut Butter Sandwich/Do-si-dos™

The other varieties combined account for the remaining 23%.
There are two bakers for the cookies.

My ex buys hundreds of dollars worth of them every year and stores them in the freezer. She's the only person I know that has girl scout cookies year round.

Same for me. I didn't know those caramel ones are called Samoas. Those are my fav. That name doesn't ring a bell, I could have sworn I knew what they used to be called. As for mints, yup, I toss em in the freezer too. :D

They are also known as Carmel DeLites and Tagalongs as Peanut Butter Patties.
I am guessing that it depends on which of the two bakeries serves your area.

It's like that first cigarette or that first hit off of the crack pipe.
You'll wish you never started.
Thank God for this thread. It reminded me that I have to buy some girl scout cookies today for my co-workers daughter.

I could easily eat an entire box of Samoas and not blink an eye.
For that reason alone.. I hate them.

I was eating my very last Samoa when I found this thread.
I still have half a box of Dosidos at work, and half a box of thin mints in my freezer at home..
And someone ELSE is selling them now. This troop did theirs in Nov.

I think they put something in the cookies. Something that makes us all addicted. Its a conspiracy. Someone has to know more!
