So, I just ordered, earlier this week, a Samsung S3 tablet and received it yesterday. I didn't get home from work until midnight and i had to still be up at 430 for work the next day. Upon opening it, I noticed the S-pen was missing. I got in touch with customer service regarding this issue and they offered me a partial refund which I accepted in order to just replace the s-pen and move on. Fast forward to today and all I want to do is play with my new tablet after work. Oddness: The tablet has an old style USB. The S3 tablet is supposed to be USB-3, like my S8+ phone. It came with an USB-3 charger and cable. Obviously, those do not work well together. Upon further inspection, the label that matches what it on the box is starting to peel off and doesn't match the actual printed S/N on the tablet. Measure it. This is an S2 that was swapped out of the box. Not only that, it's not even a FUNCTIONAL S2 tablet. Wouldn't even take a charge with an old style charger or turn on. We examined the box and what we thought was factory sealed, wasn't. It appears the tape was incredibly carefully lifted on the bottom of the box and there is what appears to be a fingerprint on it. What we initially thought was factory QC failure became evidently not that. Customer service has issued a return order for it, which is fine and I thank them for that but I'm still left without the thing I wanted: a functional S3 galaxy tablet. This was my birthday gift. Sure, I could just reorder it, but after dropping about $600+ on this order to include the case, the SquareTrade, and screen protector, I'm certainly leery about ordering it again. I really like getting my electronics from Amazon.com and haven't had any issues with prior orders until this one. I have the Amazon card which is also why I make these types of purchases with your company, but falling victim to this has put an incredible damper on my shopping through your company.

What I posted on Amazon's Facebook today after this fiasco of an order. Pictures for reference.

Did you buy this from Amazon, or ON Amazon? There's a difference, as third party vendors are able to sell via Amazon and have been since 2010.

Shipped and Sold BY Amazon

If it was sold by Amazon and not just Fulfilled by Amazon, yeah, sounds like one of their warehouse employees doing something sketchy.

That sucks. Sounds like someone abused the Amazon refund system to 'refund' their old, busted tablet for a new one. Amazon should probably have more oversight at that level, but it sounds like despite some inconvenience it worked out for you in the end so I would just reorder. I've bought a lot of electronic equipment over the years from them and have only had to return defective items a couple of times.

Totally. If you look at the first picture, you can clearly see where it was lifted and a finger print, something I didn't notice in my excitement for my new toy.

Sold by Amazon and returned from Samsung they just woulda DNC'd it. More likely a warehouse employee "traded up" swapping out an old tablet into the package for a new one. Sold by Amazon won't ever give you refurb or returned product by their policy unless it's listed as used.

How many orders have you done with amazon.com before this first time that you had a problem?

I have the first model Galaxy Tab, and now own a FireHDX. I like my FireHDX. The new ones are also super cheap, around $80 for an 8 inch tablet. I originally got it for college related stuff, but now I mostly use it for toilet related stuff.

That said, Amazon used to list its own approval rating, as you see on third party vendors on the site now. They kick you off the site if you drop too far below 90% or so for too long. In the week or so before Amazon stopped listing its own approval rate, they were hovering around 70%.

This was at the warehouse level, ie, employee theft. My fiance used to work LP for them and busted people who did this. It's not uncommon, unfortunately, but I'm more than a little pissed it happened to me.

First time. I've bought laptops from them, various other things, no issues before this.

Whoa. Whoa. I don't mean to be -that- guy, but come on now. You didn't need to go through all that after I had already mansplained it all. Clearly you lack the required number of penises to have known it before I said it. Geez.

Hi. I'm Steve.

Hi. I'm Steve.

Ha! I'm mobile so I responded before I saw your response. So you responded to my response that was being responded before seeing your response.

Resolution: On top of my refund issued by Amazon, they higher ups offered me a really nice credit for the problems and issues this resulted from.

Plot twist: It can only be applied toward the purchase of an S2.

Amazon customer service, in my experience, has always been top notch.
