Phishing is masquerading as a trustworthy source in an attempt to bait a user to surrender sensitive information such as a username, password, credit card number, etc.

Yes they fall under the same umbrella and both are considered hacks. The difference is that phishing relies on the person being hacked being really really stupid and gullible, and "hacking" requires the hacker to have actual hacking skills and knowledge.

Shit, phishing doesn't even technically have to be in email form. Calling someone up on the phone and claiming to be the IT guy and saying you need the person's password because of some random made up reason is also considered "phishing." Step 3. Unwittingly playing their role in Trump's plan, Democrats in the House will impeach Trump. It just takes a majority vote.

Step 4. In the Senate, where it takes a two thirds vote to remove an impeached President, there will not be enough votes to remove Trump from office. There might not even be a majority vote to remove him from office. Trump's Senate trial will get the highest ratings ever.

Step 5. Just like happened to President Clinton in 1999, Trump plans for the public to rally to his side in the Senate trial, greatly increasing his approval rating and setting the stage for 2020. Clinton's approval rating shot up to a remarkable 73%.

It will only work if Democrats win the House in November and if Trump can convince the public that the Russia investigation is unfair. Trump is pouring all of his power into making both things happen. If Republicans keep the House in 2018, then Trump might as well not even run for reelection in 2020.

There has never been a more cunning political scheme in history, unless you count the Russia thing, which will never be proven.

First off- you're making some massive, incorrect assumptions.

What's actually adorable here is that you're willing to uncritically accept some random person's twitter rant on what a perjury trap is. The entire rundown was incredibly flawed, btw.

The single biggest issue here: this isn't just some random person we're talking about. It's the President of the United States, and Mueller's team most likely can't actually indict Trump. That means that this isn't about legal technicalities: it's a politically mediated reality. Translation- no one is going to bust POTUS for an evasive non-answer because it would actually undermine the investigation- not further it.

No one is ACTUALLY worried that they're out to create a "perjury trap". They're concerned because Trump is a pathological liar, and he's already committed several acts of obstruction. The second there's an interview- Mueller's team can write the obstruction report. And they're terrified of that- as well as the additional acts of obstruction Trump will no doubt engage in during an interview.

Turns out that candidate's campaign had dozens of meetings with Russian officials, and both the candidate and their campaign lied about those contacts repeatedly. That same candidate was informed BY the Russians that they were interfering with the election to help him get elected and then proceeded to repeatedly deny that the Russians were interfering at all. Oh, and the candidate decided to take on a campaign manager whose previous stint had been helping Russia install a puppet President in the Ukraine- and that money-grubbing campaign manager agreed to work for free (out of the goodness of his blackened heart, presumably).

It then turns out that the highest levels of his campaign met with the Russians to talk about repealing sanctions and getting dirt on their opponent, and meanwhile, the candidate began adopting all of Putin's foreign policy priorities. That specific candidate also had a reputation as being incredibly nasty to everyone around him, but he refused to say anything bad about Putin. Then we confirmed that the Russians were launching an incredibly sophisticated disinformation campaign during the election to help said candidate.

Said candidate gets elected and IMMEDIATELY rushes out to try to repeal the sanctions levied on Putin for election meddling. (Fortunately Congress stopped him) And once he found out that there were investigations into his campaign going on, he repeatedly pressured the head of the FBI to drop the investigations. When he wouldn't- he fired him and then spun 4 different stories about why- before finally admitting it was the Russia investigation. Meanwhile, the head of the DoJ had to recuse himself from the investigations because it turns out HE had lied to Congress about his own contacts with the Russians.

So the Deputy AG did exactly what he should have done: appointed a special counsel to start investigating both the interference and the campaign. Because he would have been the world's worst Deputy AG if he hadn't.

And if you STILL don't understand why this investigation exists and is completely justified- then I guess that's why you're in charge of Nothing Incorporated.
