An Ominous Web Blankets the Sky!

Reports of an ominous web blanketing the entire sky have been springing from coast to coast! Rumors have it that small spidersilk cocoons have been falling from the web and making their way into treasure chests found across Elanthia! Opening these cocoons don't appear to be much of a treat, as insect carapaces are in most of them! These carapaces can also be broken open for all sorts of mundane loot, but some lucky adventurers have reported finding some really rare things! Be on the look out for these cocoons throughout the week (7/7 through 7/14).

It also puts things into roundtime. It's one of the most overpowered and best spells in the game IMO. I would trade every wizard CS spell (except for 516) for it.

It would be nice if giant rogues didn't get 10 seconds of RT every other swing on smaller critters when aiming with a weapon and shield. :(

Anyway... it would be nice if they opened up the demon wall as a permanent hunting area through a portal. That was a pretty sweet area to let go to waste.

I would imagine most casters prefer to have their time to kill lower than an average of 9-12 seconds and 33-44 mana a pop.

It definitely takes more than 9 seconds but I use 502 on seers and adepts that have 140 or 919 up, 4-5 casts usually does the trick.

Im suprised they havent disabled or nerfed 711 on boss and invasion creatures yet. Normal creatures are fine because of their health total but things get hilariously out of balance otherwise.

We do, when the creatures are specifically coded boss ones. The majority of creatures you fight in an invasion are painted versions of something else that are milled to a specific level. The spiders from last night were albino tomb spiders.

Modifiers also drop down each of the levels as their timers expire. So a level 4 modifier will drop to a level 3, and continue to drop until it expires fully. Level 1 just decays into nothing when it's over.

On the first night I tried it about 4 nights ago, I went on two hunts, got about 5 boxes each hunt, 1 on each hunt had a cocoon. The first had an uncut emerald. The second had an orange (400 flat xp) rpa orb. I went hunting again last night and used a major loot boost and a minor loot boost on two hunts, respectively. I got about 4 boxes per hunt and none had cocoons. Given the amount of boxes I've found, I'm happy with the 2 cocoons and one orb. However, I was disappointed with the amount of treasure I found using a major loot boost. I got pretty good gems from every critter during the boost, and I believe most of the boxes had 3 gems in them vs the 1-2 that are usually in boxes, but I expected much better results than that from a major loot boost. I didn't even get that many more boxes using the loot boost than I normally do. I typically hunt baesurkha and greater/lesser moor wights OR wood sprites and forest bendith, both areas in Illistim.

tl;dr: 4 hunts, 18 boxes, 2 cocoons, 1 rpa orb, major loot boost didn't work well for me at all

Like 2x for regular 3x for prem 4x for plat or some variation Why leave it to the people that are very lucky that find them all the time. It's bad enough it happens at dr dm eg etc. Just my thoughts on it. Instead lets frustrate people by putting stuff in boxes that only a lucky few will get. The event in itself is neat, and i know if you don't hunt you won't find for sure. Guess it's like buying a powerball ticket.

Considering that cocoons are extra added on top of normal game play I'm fairly happy. I've found maybe 6 cocoons so far all with gems or crystal amulets.

What is more interesting to me is my new level 15 is finding all sorts of box found jewelry and weapons. Nothing crazy, all low level stuff, but like a dozen or more things in a couple of weeks.

A) No orbs for me so far. I haven't tracked exact box numbers, but have been box hunting daily, and am for sure well over 200 boxes total. 'Feels' like I should have found at least one by now.

B) Not particularly upset about it. It's a fun added element to opening boxes and has changed my normal method of play a little bit as I chase them. I'm OK with that.

C) I'm hoping that subsequent weeks of this anniversary will have better rewards... giftbox items, the spider things, or something like it. But that's just because I'm greedy.

Ah I get it now. From what I understand now...the rewards are stacking until the end of the month? So...i just got a coccoon, and 3 major xp boosts again today. The rewards are starting to seem alot cooler when you realize that. Before i thought the rewards would each last a week and then switch, but now its alot more fun! and...rewarding.

Those numbers are accurate. Cocoons are loaded into a treasure chest at a rate of about 12%. At the time of this post, 13310 cocoons have been generated. The rate for orbs is already pretty high.

Loot boosts and luck song have nothing to do with cocoons. Loot boosts CAN help treasure chest drops, which can in turn give you a cocoon.

On one hand i'm glad the damaging of it wasn't completely arbitrary and based on real numbers (i assume), on another i'm bummed I missed it. I imagine many aren't in-game at 11 AM on a Tuesday.

This morning around 10:45 EST, we broke into the meteor. Inside was a spinning crystal core, an ancient being that attacked us and we slew, and a number of broken spider charms. We shattered the core and a forlorn spirit appeared. He spoke the name "Fraen Wasstont" and said he'd been there for over 10,000 years. He also said that the spider charms were originally from the meteor, and that the meteor was from Elanthia but not from our time. He begged for release and Heartfire (rather precipitously) killed him. The meteor then broke apart and we all fell to earth. The spidersilk web then tore apart and disappeared from the sky.

A bit of research reveals that Fraen Wasstont was the author of "The Journey Home," and that title was inscribed inside the meteor. A fragment of that poem was written on the glaes spider charms.

Here's what the old charms looked like:

The charm is crafted of flawless glaes formed into a circle. Delicate strands of spidersilk wind around the deep azure rim, creating a small but spectacular web within the frame. At the center of the web is a tiny smoke grey spider.

This morning around 10:45 EST, we broke into the meteor. Inside was a spinning crystal core, an ancient being that attacked us and we slew, and a number of broken spider charms. We shattered the core and a forlorn spirit appeared. He spoke the name "Fraen Wasstont" and said he'd been there for over 10,000 years. He also said that the spider charms were originally from the meteor, and that the meteor was from Elanthia but not from our time. He begged for release and Heartfire (rather precipitously) killed him. The meteor then broke apart and we all fell to earth. The spidersilk web then tore apart and disappeared from the sky.

A bit of research reveals that Fraen Wasstont was the author of "The Journey Home," and that title was inscribed inside the meteor. A fragment of that poem was written on the glaes spider charms.

Here's what the old charms looked like:

The charm is crafted of flawless glaes formed into a circle. Delicate strands of spidersilk wind around the deep azure rim, creating a small but spectacular web within the frame. At the center of the web is a tiny smoke grey spider.

Along the rim, a few words have been engraved.

The biting wind howls incessantly over a sharp precipice, whipping jagged pieces of ice around brutally. Deep indentations have been etched into the surface ice covering the precipice from the ferocity of the wind. High overhead, several large icicles look dangerously close to falling from a small outcropping. Off in the distance is a fragment of a glaes-covered meteor slammed into Mount Aenatumgana.
