It's that time again! The beloved woodland sprites will be returning once more to let us enjoy their shops and shenanigans high above the scenic jungle. The Midsummer Night's Festival will begin July 14 and continue until the 21st. The exact times will be announced once we are closer to to the actual opening date.

Over the next two weeks we'll be giving you a few teasers as to what you will find at the festival. We will, however, leave a majority of the teasers relating to the actual shops and merchandise up to the GMs releasing the shops. And there will be shops. Lots, and lots of shops. Over two dozen shops. A majority of the items that you will find at the festival are non-combat related, yet still useful.

Will there be raffles? Yes, there will be raffles! We have some really neat things we think will appeal to a wide audience.

Will there be merchants? Yes! Sprites and other merchants will be around, so get some ideas ready, just in case you happen upon the elusive GALD session!

We look forward to seeing you there (and potentially feeding you to the plant)!

Ok, let's get this started! Thimbel's Threadworks will be making an appearance. If you're not familiar with this establishment, it's what is commonly known as a 'sweat shop.'

Master doll maker Dubrin has decided to pull up stakes and leave Feywrot Mire. He has found his way to Mist Harbor and will be opening his shop, Small Stuff, as part of the upcoming festival. He offers fully customized dolls and accessories.

EXAMPLE:

You tap a Mazreth doll, which is in your right hand.

>look doll

You are holding a male GameMaster doll. He has balding golden brown hair. He has tired ale-brown eyes and olive skin. He has a pair of white-feathered wings protruding from his back and raised threateningly above his head. He is holding a tiny red Solo cup. He is wearing a small torn homework satchel, a tiny eahnor wyvern badge, a colored stars tattoo on his arm, a tiny shimmering crimson aqilorn shirt, a tiny, shiny gold Planeteer ring emblazoned with a tiny white wind symbol, some tiny stylish trousers and some elastic bands holding his shoes on.

OOC NOTES:
These dolls are super customizable. If you don't see the accessory you want, Dubrin can change it up for you. (alterable) Cases will also be available to hold all your accessories and dolls without further encumbering you. THESE DOLLS AND THEIR ACCESSORIES ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH DOLLS OBTAINED FROM DELIRIUM MANOR.

Tired of all that loose paper lying around?

G>glance
You glance down to see a pink-tinged birdseye maple stationery box in your right hand and a piece of paper in your left hand.
G>push my box
As you push a small button on the side of your stationery box, a discreet drawer in the bottom of the box slides open. You carefully place a piece of paper inside, taking care not to crease it. The drawer slides smoothly shut again with the slightest touch.
G>ponder
You ponder.
G>get paper
You pick up a piece of paper.
G>push my box
As you push a small button on the side of your stationery box, a discreet drawer in the bottom of the box slides open. You carefully place a piece of paper inside, taking care not to crease it. The drawer slides smoothly shut again with the slightest touch.
G>look my box
There are 2 sheets of paper inside the stationery box.

Boxes will hold 10 sheets of loose paper off the shelf, and can be worked on to hold more. Visit 'Now Is The Write Time' during the festival for all of your stationery needs.

The sheets do have to be blank. The boxes bundle paper and have room to store your quills, signets, wax, envelopes and ink.

Yay for teasers! I will be around to make the slippers and belt work a bit better as well. :) Head over to "Sew Lovely" to find these items!

You put a silk-banded narrow grey hat on your head.
You run your hand along your hat.
You bow slightly and tip your hat.
You bow deeply and remove your hat with a flourish.

You reach down and place a pair of high-heeled charcoal slippers with open toes on your feet, lacing them up.
You do a quick double step and kick up your heels.
You do a fancy little tap dance.
You reach down and unlace a pair of high-heeled charcoal slippers with open toes on your feet and remove them.

You put a slender twisted ivory silk belt around your waist.
You tighten your ivory silk belt.
You rest your hands on your hips.
You adjust the fit of your ivory silk belt.
You twist the ivory silk belt around your waist.

Daxela will be returning with her shop of gems. There is nothing new in the shop this year as I've been "asleep" for a few months. However, she will be working on her jewelry boxes in various ways, so if you own one, you'll want to watch for her (or any suspicious things that may fall from the sky).

Additionally, this will likely be the ONLY event offering jewelry boxes services in 2017.

Gems in piles, gems in bags, gems you found on shriveled old hags. How can I sort them, or keep them all straight? If I had a way to cut them, that would be great!

Welcome to Cutters Tent, where we aim to handle your gem sorting needs. Need to cut some fresh gems? We've got gem cutters. Need to cut gems differently? We've got lots of patterns for your cutters. Want a special design for your pattern? We can do that too.

Opening soon on an Isle near you!

OOC NOTE:
I have permission to alter both cutters and patterns for this festival only. I will be offering a few sessions dedicated specifically to this service. I hold final say on pattern designs so "No" means "No".

Not really worthy of a map. Its basically two rings on top of each other, upper and lower level:

Absolutely loving this event. It's got a distinct feel of Briarmoon Cove to it. Very little in the way of mechanical benefits (which is causing some audible grumbling from folks who are anxious for Duskruin to return), but tons of really fun things and merchants working (primarily on those things).

So far we've gotten:
Two tattoos
Two altered cameos (which are SO much cooler than I would have thought)
Altered Cameo holder
Script removal on a case to make it function with my Skull Ring
Two fully altered dolls (which are hysterical... Dubrin did a masterful job with them)
Two fully altered doll clothing sets (see above)
Altered gem cutter pattern
Two sets of unlocks each for the morphing jewelry
Plenty of fun, scripted, off the shelf stuff.

There's plenty of shops whose proprieters have indicated on their signs (or notes, or what have you) that they will be around at some point for unlocking/altering, and we're very much hoping to catch those when they come around. Very gratifying event to this point.

What was your design for the altered gem cutter pattern?

I desperately wanted a polar bear, but it had to fit into the 15/15/15 format, and was one (!@#@$!@-ing) letter too long.

So ended up with: A bear-incised blued steel pattern. Makes bear gems. Wasn't until well after the fact that I came up with a much better idea, which is why I'm hoping I'll get another crack at it.

This is why it's a good idea to spend some time coming up with alterations before and in between festivals and keep a word document with them.

I have one. I wasn't aware until the GM told us that the preceding article "A", with its followup space, would count against me, so I was left flailing. I was pretty confident that a 'polar bear-cut blued steel pattern' fit perfectly. Which is entirely my own fault, but I do my best to be fully prepared for these things, as I know how frustrating it can be when a GM gets 'stuck' on a person getting work done. That's also why I so quickly capitulated to the one that I ended up with.

I was going to get a claidhmore pattern but it was too long as well.

Reading this made me chuckle. This is the same reason I have hated this festival. I'm really happy that people are having a good time though. I'm just such a mechanically minded and oriented player, that I can't bring myself to care about all this stuff. A tattoo might be about the only thing in that list that I could have brought myself to be invovled in. Maybe some GALD (particularly the LD part).

Please note: I'm not complaining at all. This festival is exactly what it was supposed to be, and what I expected it to be. MANY players are interested in this kind of stuff, and I am glad for them. They are probably happy that people like me exist too, so that I don't fill up their lines waiting for services that I'm not interested in.

It would have been nice to get the rules in advance before the fest started, rather than sit there for 30 minutes waiting for the spin, then having all the rules done via whisper to those selected.

Heh... and when Duskruin rolls around, I'll likely be the disinterested one (but no promises). I feel like they do a fairly good job of striking a balance between the two factions, and am pretty impressed with the overall frequency of events lately. That being said, DM and then this, it feels like it's been fluff-intensive for a decent stretch now. Maybe Frontier Days will be more on the other side of things?

Yeah... I was pretty punch drunk at that point and scrambling a bit. But once she said it, I realized that that should have been something to consider on my part beforehand. Next time I'll know better, and I'm by no means unhappy with what I got done. Just that now I have a much better idea...

oh I had two or three pre-made ideas and I still changed them, one completely, over the course of waiting.

I took this opportunity to outfit alts that needed larger containers - slightly large shoulder worn rucksacks, significant cloaks and backpacks, and front, wrist, and ankle items.

Other than that, I went hunting for cocoons.

I have too much stuff already, but I am glad that many folks are enjoying the event.

I am curious for those in the know for the climate wear and those harnesses do the unlocks offer more pockets to be altered or is it just script stuff? I am premie but my play time is limited. I got the cloak and plan on altering the pockets but trying to chase and unlock for scripts doesn't blow up my skirt because I under utilize them. Different pockets for when I stuff my pockets though I will always see so it may be a worthwhile time sink if that is the case. I also don't even know but I may have missed that GM and the chance.

Also I love all the lockpicks and the container I plan to buy everyone of the lockpicks to have. Don't care if I get them unlocked as long as I have them.

You can get the pockets, straps, etc altered at any point. Having a merchant be able to work on it is a whole other can of Wyroms.

This festival has been more about picking up the nifty new stuff, getting unlocks, and GALDs for my new character. Happy to see the sweatshop works on UAC boots. Got some boots from that shop that were pretty close to an alter idea I had for them. Hoping that by the end someone comes to work on climate wear, gem cutter patterns, and the imbed shop stuff.

Definitely missing Felthrop's wagon but overall very happy with the festival.

One thing that has thrown me off... there is only one twitter account but they have #gsplat and #gsprime in the tweets depending on which instance something is happening. More than once I've logged in to get somewhere and find nobody there then noticed the #gsplat hashtag. When every second counts I guess a few seconds to look at the entire tweet will save me more time and headache!

I had someone pick up one of the stringed instruments with zests designed by Malkave, and they're just great.

Raising your mahogany dulcimer to your ear, you pluck each string in turn, testing their pitch.

Leaning forward and dropping your head down, you focus your gaze upon a faenor-strung mahogany dulcimer, watching intently as you strum a chord.

You tap out a beat on the wood back of your mahogany dulcimer, alternating between the instrument and tapping your foot as you ready yourself to perform.

Leaning back, you close your eyes and absentmindedly pick out a random tune on your mahogany dulcimer, plucking string after string.
