This is an appraisal and a "What the fuck is this thing?" question.

It's a gnomish hand, the pawnshop values it at 11 million silvers and loresong values it at almost 40 million, which is why this caught my eye. I know these values mean nothing but I don't think I've ever had something where these two values were anywhere near this high.

So anywho, here is the loresong information of it:

This is a small item, under a pound. In your best estimation, it's worth about 38,750,000 silvers.
From the pitch of the vibration you determine that the purpose of the hand is as an implement for use by a mage or other spell-user.

And that's it.

I tried to wave it at someone and got this message:

>d100: 53 + Modifiers: 22 == 75
Your gnomish hand undulates with power as you wave it at Dreaven.
You fail to animate the gnomish hand.

This seems to be the only verb for it.

Look information is: This limb seems to have been forcefully separated from its original owner. It seems to come from a gnomish, although you can't quite be sure, since it's not really in very good shape any more.

Really all of the information I have on it. I deleted my logs recently so honestly no idea where I got it from, I'm guessing either found it on a critter or someone gave it to me as a tip during a Dreavening.

Stanval on LNet helped me out here. Apparently it's something sorcs can make with alchemy after they blow off arms from critters.

Why does it appraise for so high? That's craziness.

Yes, that is craziness. Does that mean the pawnshop offered you 35k for it?

I've made quite a few hands in my time. Normally, a hand from a level 100 critter appraises at the pawnshop for either 0 or slightly over 3,000 silvers. I've never nailed down why some are zero. It might be related to whether or not the arm is "tapable" (that was important to know back when arms could be imploded). The level of the critter from which it was taken affects the power of the animated hand and its appraised value at the pawnshop. I've been carrying around a dreadlord hand for several years, and it appraises at over 4k.

Powerful hands are more difficult to activate. The activation numbers you posted do not suggest that this hand is particularly powerful, if it follows the normal rules for alchemy created hands.

I'm not sure your gnomish hand was created with alchemy. I think a hand made with alchemy would have the adjective "gnome" instead of "gnomish."

If it was made with alchemy, then it can be used only once, and if you fail badly in activating it, it may attack you instead of the critter you are targeting.

And before some Sorcerer gets the idea of making hands to sell for silvers, I assure you that, like selling other alchemy items at the alchemist shop, it's not worth it.

it also should have been petrified if made by alchemy

Yup.

Sniffberry cheerfully announces, "Good to see you Vonaq. That gnomish hand appears to be worth at least 11049906 silvers, but I'll offer you 35,000 silver if you want to be rid of it!"

Weird. I know it was just a "gnomish hand" last night when I was messing with it, but I put it in my locker last night and took it out a few minutes ago and now it is indeed "a petrified gnomish hand."

This isn't a coin hand?

I don't think so. How would I check for sure?

Sadly doesn't appear to be a coin hand then :(

Not sure what was up with the high value of the hand but it does seem to be just a normal alchemy hand. I had my sorc use it and it came to life and dragged critters down to the ground for a while before decaying away.

Was fun while it lasted :O
