This is what happens when you use "feelings" to come up with policies.
It's not like you weren't warned this is exactly what would happen.

That's fine and watch the country spiral into oblivion as 20, 30, 40% of the country's population don't have jobs.
This is the problem with conservatives they seem to make it a point to "stick it to people" then don't have a solution. Conservatives are like, "nope not my problem! I'm doing OK!" Well, that's like being in a unit with one fuck up, sure you're doing your job fine but that one fuck up is eventually going to get you killed. We're all links in a chain.

Unemployent is at 40% now?
Good to know.
I would rather use sound economic principles to make policy than "OMG WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING BECAUSE SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING!!" to make idiots like you feel better and causing this type of stupidity. Your desire to help those people you supposedly care so much about actually hurt them.

Actually, yeah it's pushing 20% now, 40 if you subscribe to the InfoWars quacks. Don't let this crapola government data fool you, people who are not in white collar jobs are struggling, under-employment (which is under-reported) is the norm now. Lot of this 5% unemployment bullshit are just people leaving the work force never to return because they can't find a job to save their lives..literally.
And the people I described above are the people that voted Trump into office in the first place. Poor, generally Southern, generally white males who don't live in the cities. You may walk into a fast food joint in the burbs' or in the city and they're all manned by latinos or blacks but you drive out into the country some off the way highway McD's or Cracker Barrel and they're 90% white in there.
And now the Repubs (NOT Trump, he already stated what they were doing was mean) want to fuck over those poor people living day to day hand to mouth for what? So the CEO of JP Morgan can get his fifth Lamborghini (for the weekends in Boca). It's become surreal, I really hope Trump as an outsider can change the mode of thinking of the Republican party.

What again does this have to do with the actual topic?
Why don't you start your own thread titled "I just want to spout about random nonsense because that's what trolls do"? That way:
1) you can actually have a point and be on topic
2) people can just skip that thread
3) I'm sure Backlash will join you there!

I'm not entirely sure why they thought something like this wouldn't happen. Unless you're going to find a way to force the businesses to not cut back hours/people, that's exactly how they're going to compensate. Otherwise they'll just increase prices and that turns into a domino effect that would eventually, I think, negate the wage increase anyway.

Your link leads to nothing, (unless you have access to the website), but I read parts of the study yesterday. It contradicts other studies. Surprise there right? Part of the nature of scientific study is to test existing theories, and in that I think the study raises some good points.
I found the study to have one large flaw: it didn't consider jobs that were replaced with positions above minimum wage as part of the study. What huh? This ignores a very telling element of the economy in a place like Seattle, and therefore makes the results suspect. Where there are plenty of jobs and the cost of living is high, an employer may raise the wage to get a better more efficient employee, or they may just raise it to remain competitive in a tight labor market, where the minimum just doesn't get you the employees you need, even when the minimum goes up. The people doing the study felt that somehow these jobs that were now above minimum were not related to the minimum wage, when in a place like Seattle, I suspect that people just raised their wages to remain competitive in the job market. Sounds like what a minimum wage increase is supposed to do to me.

So.. you're claiming unemployment is at near 20%.. but Trump's only been in office 6 months.. the reason it's so high is because of the last 8 years of economic policies of the previous administration and liberal agenda.
Glad we could agree.
See what I did there? ;)

Oh I agree that it wasn't Trump that caused it but if Obama hadn't implemented his "liberal policies" we would be looking at great depression mode for the economy. In fact, we were here before as a nation. The great depression. Conservatives wanted the status quo and we were stuck in depression for a decade, only "socialist" policies like massive public works projects and social security led to business and economic activity which led us to prepare for and win WW2.
The postwar period (especially the late 40's and 50's) was a golden age for America. We had no equal in the world and the living standards for Americans were cartoonishly high. This was also the time that the country was most socialist (90% tax rate for the rich, yikes!) You see, personal responsibility works both ways; the first is to strive to add something to the basket through hard work and saving, but the other side is to not grab everything in the basket and flip off the rest of your countrymen.
