View Full Version : health question
We all know that the advice of that which is given on an online forum is much more credible than the advice of a trained professional.
I just finished my antibiotics for bronchitis w/ lung fluid buildup and seemed to have forgotten to call that trained professional, I personally would not like to go into sepsis and die, so, for anyone who's used the Advair inhaler, should I still be using it? It has a ridiculous number of puffs left.

Yes, continue to use it as directed, Stanley.

When I had pneumonia like three years ago they gave me advair but said I could stop when symptoms stop.
Those like like 30 days don't they?
HarmNone is in the medical field though, so I'd listen to her, heh.

Yes. It's just strange that I finished the augmentin way before the advair inhaler.

Using Advair is not going to prevent sepsis, Stanley, any more than not using it is going to cause sepsis. Advair and sepsis are unrelated. However, the Advair will help to keep your bronchial passages clear. It's a good idea to continue to use it for at least a week or two after the symptoms have diminished.
Thanks HN :)
edited to add: I swear I'm not stupid! Meant sepsis because I might have formed resistant bacteria from all this antibiotic use, but uh... somehow I doubt it.

I had a discussion about this in biology!
You should always take the full dose of the antibiotic even if you no longer feel bad. Why? You kill off all the ones that are weak to the antibody and you get better. But some don't die, they're just weakened by it. You'll get better but those weakened bacteria will then reproduce. You won't get sick again but now this strain of bacteria will be immune to that antibody.
At least that's what the teacher said.
Oh yeah, if I pick up smoking again after this, can we initiate a coalition of the willing PC delegates to come and beat my ass to a pulp please?

Advair isn't an antibiotic, Leloo.
And the thing you teacher taught you is pretty common knowledge.

Obviously not or we wouldn't be having problems with it. Or are there people willfully not taking their complete perscription and all like "I'll get them ALL!! MUWHAHAHA, run free mutated virus, attack my enemies, my minions!"
