Assuming a new player who played close to 5+ years ago. Looking at 'maybe' getting back into the game. Which resources should I look into for helping me get started again? i.e. character training, scripting, etc.

the profession folders here, lich and you should be able to figure it out from there.

The wiki, and search for Lnet or tillmen or lich. You'll want that for sure. Then read the newbie guides and Whirlin has some great guides written (along with other player created guides)
