View Full Version : Murder Trial

01-06-2005, 06:41 PM
That's right, the Resident Fascist is going on a murder trial. A friend of mine from school has been accused of killing his great aunt for an inheritance, so the DA is all like calling me and shit for a possible testimony (I had no involvement, I just know the guy).

Anyway, if there are people here with some knowledge of law or something similiar or might know what to expect from this, I'd love to know. This totaly sux0rz.

You rehearse testimony with your guy, and go over what the other guy will probably ask.

Also, they probably won't let you queen it up. Sry.

It's already been said but just tell the truth. You have nothing to lose and since you say you don't know anything about it your friend shouldn't be affected by what you have to say. Unless they are digging for personal history and background on the guy... which sounds like the case to me.

They either want you as a character witness to promote leniency on his behalf, or they think you can cast some kinda darkness on his personality or demeanor or something. I assume if its the actual DA.. and not his defense attorney.. then its the latter.
But like everyone else said, all you can do is tell the truth about what you know about your friend, if anything. And be done with it. They pretty much walk you through it and prepare you for any cross examination anyhow.

If you want to waste your time in a court room, go ahead and tell the truth...if you want out of the trial, when questioned act irratioanlly extreme one way or the other...like, "He was arrested so he had to have done it!" the defense or prosecution, depending on which side you take will move to throw you out as a potential witness, and the Judge will agree if you are irrational and extreme enough.

if your friend is guilty:

did your friend cut you in on the money?

if so, lie

if not, don't lie

If your friend is Innocent:

did your friend cut you in on the money?

if so, tell truth

if not, lie

or

Sanley and Adredin's advice looked good too.

Not 100% sure of his guilt or innocence. I WILL say that I've known him for a very long time and he did NOT seem the type of kid to do this sort of thing.

I was not cut into the money nor did I ever ask to be. I knew he was throwing it around for a while, but I was pretty much leaving for basic training when this was happening so I kind of missed it. Yayz for me.

If you don't believe he is the kind of kid to do this sort of thing then you should take it seriously and tell the jury that. There will be plenty of evidence and facts. You, having known the kid for years, need to explain to the jury what the kid is like.

Just take it seriously. Don't be like "I'm too important for this." It's kind of your duty as a citizen.

When I was a kid, I was a boyscout (no one laugh or I will use my knot skills to lynch you), anyway, the main patrol leader guy was an eagle scout, which even though I thought most of those badge seeking suckups were lame, an eagle scout is no easy task no matter what, and quite an honor. This particular guy was also a good leader, the most level one there...a great mediator...I got into a fight with his younger brother (still older then me at the time) who was my patrol leader (Shark patrol! Grrrrrr!) and was surprised the eagle scout didn't take sides. Anyway, to make a long story short, a year ago the guy was in the news, he had apparently lost his wife recently, and in a depression killed his children, then himself. Very tragic, very shocking. No one would have guessed he would do such a thing. My point being that you never can tell what goes through the minds of other people. Though one minute you may begin to think you can predict their actions, you will ultimately come to realize that you merely mistook foolishness for wisdom.

Oh and then another good one is give some crazy ass story and then tell them you made it up because of all the stress they put on you.

You know someone who is going on trial for MURDER? Excuse my insensitivity, but that's pretty fuckin' cool.

Don't say "pwned" like "owned." That's too boring. Say "poend," like "poem," but with the "nd" at the end instead.

Anyway, I want to hear about what happens. When's the trial? How do they think he killed her?
