Walking Sticks (not a runestaff, weapon, etc.)

Can anyone help explain these items to me?

There's a local shop in the landing (The Treasure Box - #375) that is selling quite a few of the "walking sticks".

Description is:
Walking sticks and staffs are zesty on their own or alongside the shoes. Sticks will even help you stand when you're sitting.

Given the description, I believe they are just fluff items. But yet... the description on Rune staves show a "alt" description/name of "walking stick".

Which are they? And where did they come from? Are they craft/player made?

How do they help one stand?

They typically sell at Ebon's Gate I think, and probably a shop at some other event. They're pretty common. On the stand part, if you are sitting or laying down, and you are over loaded/encumbered where you can't stand back up, no matter how much weight you have on you if you push/lean on one of these, it will stand you up automatically. You typically incur like a 5 sec rt. This does not work in combat if you are webbed, in RT, stunned, etc.

I saw the sign in the shop mention the shoes... figured there was something about the pair.
Thank you for the wiki link. I wonder why it didn't come up before? Maybe cause I was looking under "walking" stick and not a "shoe" stick. Go figure.
Anyway... now all I have to do is wait on some white leather boots with some golden runes... LOL.
