I'd like to see about getting my pike all the way enchanted up, but I don't know how many points to ask for.

They changed surcharges such that bane should be a flat amount. It would be either the 600 point "simple non-fluff script" which is what I would think it should be, or the "complex non-fluff script" which is 1200 points.

how exactly does that stuff work. Was trying to find it. Like bane

Thanks Archigeek. I figured 600, but since bane is not actually a script in the traditional sense (does not take up the script slot) I couldn't really be sure.

I think when they defined "complex non-fluff script", they said only fusion, Voln, and maybe Ithzir (?) were at the 1200 level.

beldannon, the wiki page is pretty good, I think: https://gswiki.play.net/Bane_weapon

I thought the bane surcharge was identical to the ability the bane grants?

So, I asked Jainna about banes about two years ago because it confused the heck out of me. Her response to me is that bane was NOT affected at all by the change to tiered "script" surcharges because bane is not a script. Therefore, a weapon with bane weighting should be treated just like general weighting in terms of pricing PPs, like time4fun suggests. My PCALC on my own axe with MCW general weighting and +12 bandit bane bore this out, though I have not actually enchanted it yet so the final Sadie determination has not been finalized. Thanks for verifying. I do wish they would discount bane given it's only good for a subset of creatures. I can absolutely see undead bane being full price, but bandit bane?

I've got a 3x HCW Mace with 26 points of grimbane that I would love to enchant. But the surcharge is impossibly high for a simple 3x-4x enchant.

I agree, it's friggin' expensive. I had the bane added at the 1st RtCF because it was the end of the run and I had lost out on everything else, so it was basically that or a consolation cloak. There is no fury like the fury I felt when I won general crit weighting at the next run and instead of 10+ of general weighting they would only add 8+ to my already HCW (+12 bandit, total +22) axe because "it couldnt go above +30 total weighting points at RtCF, and bane weighting counts in that equation." That damn bandit bane cost me +2 general weighting points AND it made my axe stupidly expensive to enchant. You could say it has been the...bane of my existence.
