Pigs, like chihuahuas, can be great pets as they are very smart and trainable. But pigs, like chihuahuas, tend to be ignored in the training department and become horrible shit creatures that everybody hates except the dumb owner because they are dumb. Plus "small" pigs still tend to be about 100lbs, so can be MUCH more destructive when left untrained.
If it won't be cute when he outweighs you, it's not cute now. Train your pets!

I'd also like to point out that the porcine parent's size is not a good predictor for the baby pig's adult size. I hope you don't end up with a 300 pound berserker hog.

My gf is gonna train him because she has the time and patience for it.
I don't expect it to get huge. A friend of mine has had one for years and it's about the size of a basset hound, just not as long. It depends how you feed them too, because they'll pretty much never turn down food. And if it gets huge, then I'll have an extra garbage can with legs that oinks.

If he's still eating milk, is he even supposed to be away from his mother?
I would think pigs would be at least similar to dogs in that respect and puppies shouldn't be taken from their mothers until at least 8 weeks old or they can get psychological/behavior issues.
I'm certain you guys are going to take awesome care of him and everything - no judging. I just had a bit of a 'red flag' moment in my head for the breeder if they sell piglets that aren't weaned yet.

Holy shit! Girthy. I thought #3 was just supposed to be temporary?
#3 ended up being permanent. Which I pretty much expected even when it was supposed to be temporary. They're all from the same litter and have been together since they were born so I wouldn't want to split them up anyway.
Real talk though, do you ever just sprawl out across them and enjoy a couch of pig?
The brown one and the small one sleep on the couch a lot. The other one I think is too fat to get up there. She made it up once, and somehow ended up stumbling off back to the floor, I don't think she quite figured out how to turn herself around on the couch to get situated, and then she never tried again. They go nuts if you try to pick them up because most pigs are like that, so assisting isn't really an option either.
But yeah, sometimes I'll get on the floor and they'll all run over and pig pile me. They're a lot like dogs. Dogs are still cooler, but pigs are still cool af too.

I've seen the potential, but the one I was around for any length of time was a spoiled shit monster and I hated him. He got punched in the head a couple times for straight attacking me over food or even just something he thought was food. But he did a couple tricks and solved food puzzles and shit which was cool, but its a big fucking animal to be biting at me like Hoglin Keller. I am not a fan of that kind of "training" but there is a threshold of danger/mass (dog or pig) where the only lesson to be taught is 'I will bite you back". Anyway, a pig would be a cool pet with any sort of effort, Leonardo Fibonacci was a wild hog though.

Once I was trying to catch some wild pigs and I got in a tree near a herd of pigs and tried to rope them. I got the first one and put my family's brand on it but the second one pulled me out of the tree and I got pig swarmed. They bit me up pretty bad but luckily my dog showed up and then ran and got help while I nursed my wounds. It is a good story because it's true.

You're usually better off having just 1, as when you have 2 or more they'll usually bond more with each other instead of the owner. Will still bond with the owner, they'll just bond more to each other. For about the first year they were basically a street gang of pure destruction. Like a puppy, but with a ton more raw strength. And mouths that could literally eat my whole house. But they've chilled out a good bit since then and there's pretty much no destruction anymore.
Except when they sometimes try to eat visitors. They think they're protecting the pack, but they're not too bad about that anymore unless that person really sucks. They can tell when someone sucks, and they hate those people. Because those people suck and deserve to be eaten.

While still not a great behavior, I have (limited) patience for protective instinct and defensive behaviors against strangers. How long do pigs live? And those look like fat fucking very happy pigs.
Anywhere from 12-20 years I think. And yeah they're fat and spoiled.

Thinking about getting two of these guys in a couple weeks once they are fully weaned.

You should get the 3rd one too so they can all be pals for life.

I wish I could. They only allow two pets max where I live. Plus they aren't cheap.

My only contact with dachshunds were my grandparents growing up as a kid. They were barky, tried to bite me and not cuddly.
A puggle is a far superior breed.

I have a half Shih Tzu half dachshund and I can confirm the chillness. She is constantly trying to get me to nap. Literally every second of every day.
