I'm sure some systems haven't been touched in a very long time. What small changes to base functionality would improve your quality of life in GS?
My short list:
Healing/Herbs|
Make all tinctures/herbs weight equal to a gem.
Allow all tinctures to hold 100 doses.
Allow herbs to be bundled to 100 doses.
Increase the base doses in alchemy made tinctures.
Allow talneo root to heal wounds instead of requiring a tincture/potion.
Alchemy|
Sell all components.
Make them expensive, just make them available. Have the system drain all the silvers.
Foraging|
Allow up to 10 items to be foraged in each room.
Because some herbs only grow in 1 room.
Combat|
Remove open rolls from the CMan system.
Don't allow NPCs to stack RT.
Lockpicking|
RT reduction for disarming and lockpicking.
Total boxes picked: 3381
Total time picking: 119861.05 seconds
Average time per box: 35.45 seconds

Two/Three ayanad crystals to form an s'ayanad, etc. By mid tier alchemy, ayanad crystals are simply worthless.

Artisan skill roundtime reduced across the board. (Huge since the revamp of Haste)
ALL cobbling materials be stackable to 100. (or allow use of gemjars to hold adornments).
Remove either the randomness or the 10sec rt from Rainbowear.
Allow Lockmastery trap reps to use pre-disarmed box trap components for task hand-ins.
Reduce the number of reps for lockmastery tasks (all).
Reduce the number of people needed for audience reps to 2, or one master.
Remove lost/unable to be reached arrow component from ranged.
Make demons hittable by bows if they bow enchant + arrow enchant = 8x. (not just the arrow being 8x).
Make flares on bows transfer to arrow when fired.
Add changing undergarments/chemises/etc to the worn-location changing bowls in the boutiques. Currently they do not change chemises from chest worn to underarmor slot, which wrecks layering and makes me sad.

A game flag that allows you to tell the game that you don't give a shit about arrows, bolts, etc., hidden in the room, so stop adding roundtime when I search for a hidden bandit, triton magus, etc.
Mstrike qualifier that prioritizes the highest level critters first, so when you mstrike capped bandits in Fhorian Village right after three mud wasps come in, you still hit the bandits and not the stupid wasps.

Allow guild points to "roll over" so when you have 1 point needed to advance, and you turn in a task worth 12 points, you don't lose 11 points. It removes 11 points from your next rank.
New alchemy potions that cure a wound and the scar at the same time. Have different levels of the potion that reduce the RT further and further.

Allow anyone to turn off Troll's Blood any time.
What Mogonis said about gems.
Allow clerics to upgrade less-than-full chrisms into the highest quality they have the training for. Every 50-70% chrism I see makes me really sad, knowing I can't do anything about it after the fact and someone used a gem that would have been better off for a bounty.
2x Physical Fitness for clerics. Or at least increase the effect SMC has on reducing 130 nausea, or just reduce 130 penalties for clerics. Right now these "masters of spiritual magic" are worse at using this minor spiritual spell than empaths, rangers, old enough paladins, old enough monks, old enough rogues, and super old warriors.

A list of each GMs merchant characters, and what scripts or unlockable stuff they work on, so I know who to stalk at paid events.
Secondary to this would be a list of scripts or services that are no longer supported because those GMs and their merchants have moved on.
This way I could know if I need to just junk my vorpal bunny slippers of Doom which are only unlocked to Tier 1 (rendering them essentially vorpal bunny slippers of Heck), because GM Whatshisname moved on and nobody else works on them any more.
Add changing undergarments/chemises/etc to the worn-location changing bowls in the boutiques. Currently they do not change chemises from chest worn to underarmor slot, which wrecks layering and makes me sad.

A lot has already been said.
Auto sort head to to should just be automatic.
Gems should count as .1 or even .001 items.
Herbs and tincture bundles and pours 100.
Mail. We need a decent parcel system.
Just buy lich already and incorporate the map and other smart features fully into SF.
Cheapen and speed up the chronomages because at this age of game making people pay too much and wait around 15 min doesn't enhance the game it just causes large areas to be under utilized.
Oh and OT implement a few dozen more of the Tones and more prenames for fun.
Just my 2.5 cents
Mogonis
05-24-2017, 02:31 PM
I figure they don't make sorting automatic because some people have pinworn items, and the sort system allows you to change the item order.

I have learned not to expect or even hope for changes I suggest. but the thread asked so I answer ;D

"Gems should count as .1 or even .001 items."
I think if the item count limit were raised significantly, it would be the easiest thing to do and there would still be the weight limit that would keep people from carrying around too many non-gems (a non-gem weighs half a pound minimum, so even 1000 non-gems at the very minimum each would be a minimum of 500 pounds, couldnt be carried by many characters). Gems weigh 1/10 of a pound, so the effect of increasing the item count limit would basically be allowing people to carry more gems!

I'd like to see silver/iron wands and bloodwood wands drop with alot more charges than they currently do, by the time you can imbed your own wands these spells have become trivial and just pawnshop fodder. Yes their damage is pitifully weak but they allow lower level players brand new to the game to stay in character, 1700 was a step in the right direction.

Additional alchemy potions:
To recharge an enhancive for a short time
To recharge an enhancive for a long time
To reduce the cost of recharging an enhancive at the adventurer's guild
To increase the time between "charge checks" that makes an enhancive reduce a charge

someone mentioned master of spiritual magic, Warriors are the supposed master of the sphere of arms, and have essentially lost every thing that gave them that mastery. I have to agree with Mogonis on the triple CM for warriors, I can't agree on weapon tripling that would be overkill, I think however both armor and shield training for warriors should be cheaper. I actually think every profession should have a class defining skill or two that is either 1/0 or 0/1 to train in.

The only thing that scares me about warriors being able to 3x CM is that creatures would also gain the ability. I think it would make hunting a lot more dangerous. Especially with the open rolls.
If they removed open rolls, and also removed access to spell knowledge it would be more reasonable.

Warriors if you really think about it are incredibly OP as is. They and rogues are the only class where no other class can emulate what they do. Warriors on the otherhand have access to almost every other spell that another class can cast.
You want to cast cloak of shadows as a warrior, sure, there's a rubbable for that...want to rezz as a warrior, sure, there are scrolls for that..want to wear every protective wizard spell sure everyone can do that.. want to berserk or bash as a wizard? HOW DARE YOU?!

How do warriors and rogues have any more spell access then any other profession exactly? Not to mention gaining spell casting ability can significantly reduce redux unless you are way past cap. The only OP warriors are significantly past cap, and that is essentially how every profession is. Comparing the run of the mill warrior to Roblar, Jeril, Kerl or I, is silly. Hell lets just compare all clerics to Kaedra and say they are OP too.

Rangers, are so underpowered compared to you all, I do not even know where to begin. :( but this is a quality of life thread so here goes.
620 resist elementals, self cast on 'any armor' the ranger is wearing. Such an underused spell.
Companion review? How demeanor is worked in regard to companions, as it is now, it has to match the ranger. Summon 'swarm' of companions once a day? Strangers pawing at rangers companions, how rude.
MIU 2x? Rangers can make rods, wands, bracelets, amulets, and anklets... would be a good boost in using them.
Tangle weed, is seriously underpowered at cap. I think when it was changed from 620 to 610, it was somehow nerfed a little too much.
Cast Sunburst 609 in a foraged room to cut down the herb replenishing time for others.
Companions, 'track' to find direction to nearest enemy. Or use it to increase spawn rate of desired critter. Hire your local ranger to reduce critter bounties durations!
603 foraging, can be stacked to 4 hours, please make this the same general duration as other ranger spells and make it so we can multi cast it with Lore.

I've always felt that Rangers got the least toys compared to the other semis. On the one hand you Bards that have Sonic Gear, a Haste song and more while on the other you have Paladins, the most physical semi, that can use Armor Specialization and Shield Maneuvers but also is allowed to 2x in lores and has a Weapon Bonding spell.
620 needs to be updated. There are Armor Specialization that have diminishing returns the higher you go in AG. 620 should be the same. Also, add Lightning the resistible elements! Why isn't that there already?!
Companions need updated too, if for no other reason than to stop the constant hunger messages. I'd love to see more animal companion types too like snakes, lizards, deer, goats, rams, and bears too.
Maybe giving rangers a few the the rogue only Combat Maneuvers would help. I'm sure if they had Silent Strike or Divert, it might narrow the semi gap a bit.

I met a new player in IMT yesterday who wanted to play with their friend, but the friend was sent to TV. I explained how travel tokens worked but I'm not sure if that friend ever made it over (or if they had a token). They have options open to them, easy good options. A travel token is given for free, they can walk, their friend could do it to come to them. If they want more, they pay more. Simple as that. It isn't like they are missing out on gameplay.

I think getting started is the hardest part of GSIV, trying to figure out how to get from TV to mule is a bit steep for day 1 when all you want is to meet your friend so you can start figuring out the lands. Maybe just EAST and WEST options? iirc the travel guide from TV to MULE takes just shy of 3 years, but it's been a while since I took that walk.

People tend to want to dive into a game they start. Not have to travel for 30 min - 1 hr to start the game. I wouldn't have a problem with everyone being able to choose their starting location.
Also it is almost impossible for a level 0 or 1 to make the trip to or from EN just walking. It requires to many skill checks.

I think where you begin can also have a role in how you want to RP your character. I've played die hard elves that wouldn't be caught dead in landing, and vice versa for other characters who wouldn't want to go anywhere near the EN. And unless you're reading a primer somewhere on the travel guide token, which isn't a guarantee, then it's not intuitive as to how to use it either.
I get both of you want to protect premium benefits. I would say the premium sub could use a review to give you all better perks than just deciding which town you're born in. Make that a free perk I say and give you all something better; as part of an overall premium sub review.

Travelling from EN to Icemule is not easy for even someone who is a hardcore vet and came back to the game recently. change premie transport to 25k per use, every use
cost based on the fact that gold rings are about 2k-2.5k from the pawnshop, so real price for a chronomage is ~40-50k, and premie should be half that.

A truly new player probably doesn't know what the towns are anyway, and may not know which one to pick. A lot of them seem to discover Lich right away as well. I've escorted new players to other towns, like Mule to Landing. The travel guides take awhile, but there's an RP aspect that experienced players ignore and new players might enjoy.
I figure if everyone had a choice, they'll all choose the Landing, which I would normally condone because it's the best town, but I suppose the EN needs characters in it, and that will only happen randomly during character creation for people who don't know any better.

I'd like to see all weapons become viable. There are some cool weapons that don't get used because another weapon has the same RT but way better df.
To do this SIMU could scale the cost of adding weighting through PP, DR certs etc....based on some combination of AvD and DF. No reason adding weighting to a quarter staff should cost the same as adding it to a maul.

OK it looks like Wentoph or glatoph..which room?! Arghhh?! ok it's sw and nw and s fuck.. there's like 50 rooms like that?! fuck me?!... oh shit this part of the map doesn't exist?! Nooo! ... google map... ok found Antalya's site got the map I need, ok it looks like this room... window back in game.. oh fuck I'm dead?!

Ya its a pain but not too bad really. If you're a new player you might as well learn the area and you don't have far to go anyway. If you're not new then you've probably played before lich existed anyway.
I will say this though. My old pc is messed up and I had to play on the web page. It is a pain int
the ass, and I doubt I would keep a subscription without lich. I would not vote for SIMU to devote resources to updating this part of the game though

I mean, this isn't a raid tier. If letting players choose which town they spawn in is so resource intensive, we might as well not have any suggestion threads.
It takes time from someone that could be better spent on doing something else.

When I made that post I thought he might have been talking about the new player spawn thing, but maybe he is talking about the web client. The web client would need more work, but would definitely help to pull the overall website out of the early 2000's.

I think improving basic functions for new player entry should be a high priority. More players could mean more development.

I don't think that has anything to do with player entry though. When I first started I was in Landing. I played in Landing. I think help for new players could be improved, but I don't think town travel is one of them.

Require using BREATHE and EXHALE commands every few seconds. Anytime you miss a round you lose 75 HP.
This will make GS more realistic and therefore better.

Could be like other MUDs that require eating and drinking or you can lose health, pass out etc

GSIV quality of life would be improved for me if each town had a bard or even have the pawnbroker able to fill the role of loresinging.
Being able to flag certain spells off for MANA SPELLUP. I turn them off one by one because I like a neat active spells window. I know.

Also while shae mentions it, being able to flag a spell off so it warns you before you cast it. Like the time I called everyone to icemule tsc for mass spells 7 years ago then accidentally cast meteor swarm and murdered the entire town. Everyone decayed because even the cleric died and nobody came. I ended up in stocks for 4 hours getting hit with fruit. Jack daniels was involved. Though this would end the possibility of future hilarious stories. On a side note, what is the purpose of that spell anyway? You cast it and have to run? Can't even watch what it does. In fact just change the spell to something useful. That would be nice. :)

There have been many suggestions to fix the spell, but there are also a lot of curmudgeons who want it to stay the same. These people see more worth in the idea of Meteor Swarm than the spell itself could ever hope to provide.

I just noticed on the wiki it says the spell is slated for review/replacement. If that even means anything.

Didn't the spell get nerfed allowing creatures to avoid it? I remember people used to leave their familiar in the pasture of shadow valley, storm the area then watch remotely through the familar, you can't bring a familiar there now so I guess that's even out of the question.

When a cleric or paladin leaves a group, don't drop their spells from everyone if there's still another cleric or paladin left who has the same spells up.
Would save people a lot of annoyance during KST!

Speaking of critters and spell effects... Make arrows gatherable if the room is cleared of critters rather than being a hard wait.
But, I'm sure that's likely a bigger change/check than is really worthwhile

I would like to see a 1% chance for each bow attack that the bowstring will *TWANG* and break. Requires a fletcher to fix the bow string. I also think that magical bows that are non-physical or imbued with self generating arrows should have a 1% chance of back-firing giving the bow user a rank 2 hand wound and RT.

Breakage
Armor/weapons - Non-permanent breakage, maximum of 12 hours repair time for plate armor (the hardest to repair) and 5,000 silvers per x1 enchant, padding/weighting multiplier of x per category of padding, a flat doubling of cost for flares etc.
A piece of armor should be considered completely destroyed (useless until fixed) by 100 ranks of wounds recieved for normal vultite (+/-) depending on material.
Magical items - An incrementally increasing chance for 'magical malfunction' for any item, weapon, or armor with unorthodox magical ability (glove bow or self generating ammo bows or wands to unique magical item's like Thalior's eye).Makes such an item useless for 24 hours.

Storage
Lockers - stuffed with too many magical items has a chance for each item to undergo permanent breakage due to the intense concentration of magical energy. The rate is a 1.5% chance randomly rolled once a month. The threshold for each roll is based on the quantity and the level of magical power of each of the items in the locker. When an item is permanently broken there are trace remanents of magical energy which indicate what the item was.

This might not be a "small" change depending how the adventurer's guild is coded, but...
Capped bandit bounties in the Landing (and Mist Harbor, RR, etc.) without wearing a soulstone.

I think the problem (at least in regards to the landing, and probably RR) is that it would make it so you ONLY got bandits and escorts from the landing. Waiver escorts and it's just a forever bandit farm.
