I've got available:

a dark vultite braquemar 6x HCW short sword

a dark vultite butcher's knife 6x HCW dagger

some dark vultite augmented chain 6x HCP

a shadowy black eahnor tanto 6x T2 dagger, fully unlocked mist blade with scripts including ambient and feature-changing ones

a sharp vaalorn handaxe 4x HCW and sanctified

a folded dark eonake wakizashi +21 along with +9 OHE bonus, essentially 6x DCW, sanct'd short sword. Also +4 DEX and +5 perception bonus. Cheap to recharge.

a long-bladed dark mithril tanto, perfect-forged 7x dagger, T3 ensorcelled, lesser mood scripts (https://gswiki.play.net/Mood_script/saved_posts) SHOW:

Dark and mirror-smooth, a length of dusky mithril has been forged into a long blade with perfect lines and symmetry. The distinct form, coupled with a razor-honed edge that culminates in a sharply pointed tip, manifests its deadly function. Extending below a narrow guard of rolaren, the hilt is diagonally wrapped in ivory silk towards a rolaren end cap, completing the subtle curve of this remarkable weapon.

In the Common language, it reads:
"Wraith"

a crystallized indigo dagger coupled with a pair of indigo gloves. T1 unlocked parasitic dagger. I've been adding guild flares on it for the cost of completing one task. Greater rate of a flare occurring, and sometimes both on the same swing:

You swing a crystallized indigo dagger at a black forest ogre!
AS: +396 vs DS: +241 with AvD: +9 + d100 roll: +56 = +220
... and hit for 35 points of damage!
Great shot penetrates thigh and shatters bone!
The black forest ogre is knocked to the ground!
The black forest ogre is stunned!

** Your indigo dagger flares with a burst of flame! **

... 25 points of damage!
Flames incinerate left arm to the bone. Not a pleasant sight.
You wince as the indigo dagger draws upon your blood as it strikes.
** A slender indigo and black tendril lashes out from a crystallized indigo dagger and slashes a black forest ogre's right arm! **

... 30 points of damage!
Quick, hard slash to the black forest ogre's right arm!
*CRACK*
The ogre growls and grasps at his mangled right arm as his rust-covered dhara falls to the ground.
A black forest ogre twitches one last time and dies.

Looking for:

HCP Metal Breastplate preferably 4x or higher
High enchant MBP in general
Maybe that Zelnorn MBP
Greater elemental flaring short swords and daggers
10x dagger
MBP

All I got is a 2x MCP T5 10% void resist MBP which you can't afford!

It's easier to get enchants than the base stats of my MBP.

I'd probably let it go for the right price.

What race/profession for the MBP? I went from 7x HCP to 10x plain and haven't missed the padding at all.

Mine? No limitations.

Kept me alive repeatedly during the Vathor invasions. I'll stick with padding.

I'd guess it depends on the character wearing it. For myself a rogue with 430, and now some spirit line, however I'm using slippery mind with my brig and plan to stay there

Nice armor. I had a set at 0x MCP and still enjoyed the benefits.

Actually acquired the 6x zelnorn cuirass; I rarely get hit as it is, so I'm having fun pretending my 7x perfect dagger is now permanently "10x" compared to the armor I was using before.

Perhaps it my my armor, since ensorcelled, and enchanted twice.

I meant the OP. Anyway, padding is only in play if you get hit. As a square, I've always favored enchant over properties. If your DS is high enough, most attacks will fail to connect or do like one or two damage. Granted, I'm a capped giantman warrior.

Some of the Duskruin champions can do a little damage. The real vulnerability is CS spells.

Invasion critters are going to hit you :)

So? Invasions are meant to eventually kill anyone who jumps in regardless of equipment. Why spend many millions for padding that will maybe prevent a few deaths? Deeds are cheap. Spellups are plentiful. Chrisms will have you back up in like 10 minutes.

Might as well dress in off the shelf gear with that rational Mogo.

I liked living thru an invasion. Off the shelf gear would not have saved me.

I believe others lean towards gearing up too.

Not sure what your point is.

Well, have you ever thought about it? We spend small fortunes on items that essentially make it a little harder for us to die. But what is death? It's a cheap deed and like a 10min delay. I'm not saying I practice it. I love my gear. It's just interesting to consider.

The point was to get the OP to consider saving money by getting plain armor. Plate armor, even with chest coverage only, does a fine job against crits, but it may depend on the character build.

I can get behind that. Like I said I don't get hit often, and when I do the crits aren't bad. I reached out to someone with 10x MBP but didn't get a response. If DR had a cheap set of 6x HCP breastplate, I'd have scooped it up. For now the zelnorn is serving as a great present to myself for hitting 63.

Yeah that might be the same armor, Crime.

If I had a choice between 0x plate with very heavy damage padding and 50% resist slash/crush/pierce/light vs. 10x plate. I would go with the 0x plate if I were at cap. The +50 just doesn't register too much when you're dealing with 400 endrolls especially with redux and plate divisor. It's the blood loss and the following hit to your AS that get's really problematic.

Not an issue for me. I play Gemstone to have fun, and gear is fun.

I find I have more fun living vs dying, and anything that helps me survive is more fun.

That's what silvers do, create more fun through upgrades.

I get where you're coming from, but it's a bit off target when you really think about it. Everyone loves toys!

Also, any idiot can finish this game (aka hunt the hardest hunting ladder critter) with plain old 4x gear. It's been stated time and time again that that is what the critters are designed toward.

And so it really is about story line after all :)

And

Invasions!
