The Cat In The Hat

Saw this yesterday, I dont recommend it for anyone over the age of 2.
It was a stunning movie visually, but other than that it was just terrible. It did have a really good jump spot though, which according to my friends, was actually worth the admission to see me jump half way across the theater.

I agree completely. Was not worth the $20 I spent to go see it.

Admission for me and seven children to A Series of Unfortunate Events: $40
Popcorn and sodas for said children: $48
Having seven small children sit still and STFU for more than an hour: priceless
Storyline was a little blah but the visuals were awesome. Carrey was WAY over the top, though Olaf is that way to begin with... so maybe its a well done..?
At least it had some few laughs!
L - one thumb up!
I heard the Aflack duck was in it.
Can anyone confirm these rumors? That duck is fucking awesome, he makes me cry and laugh, both at the same time...

We went to see it today and took my two oldest. They loved it, I thought it was pretty okay. However, the part that made James laugh out loud for about 20 minutes while the movie was still going was the scene with that fucking "World's deadliest viper" which consequently made me scream out like a bitch and jump halfway across the seats. I quote "If you were playing b-ball, you'd have been able to tomohawk that bitch" was his comment after he finally caught his breath from laughing so hard at me.
PS. Snakes are fucking evil and I h8 them. :(

7 kids... it was the holidays man!
3 from my aunt, 2 from my uncle, 1 apiece from seperate aunts... all aged 6 to 12. None are mine! I swear....
I am Super Babysitter Man!
Or I'm just too damned nice and good with children.... so I get stuck with ALL of the children while they all go and enjoy a day of shopping....
One of the two...

And yeah... Olaf was very ugly -- on topic see?

Hehe, I'm sure that your family members really appreciate you allowing them a day off. I know I did when my mom confiscated my three kids for a week over Christmas-break hehe. And yes, Olaf was ugly lol

Well I gave them a whole week off.... andthey didn't appreciated it, but it's cool. I did it for me really, I love hanging out with young kids. They are more real than grown ups :-p. They are just noisy as hell sometimes!
But I really only watched them all week for for one reason... 8 player Halo 2 where I always won!
Ahem... I digress.
I actually missed the worlds deadliest viper jump spot because I had to go retrieve a 12 yr old girl who went to the bathroom and got sidetracked for 10 minutes by "cute boys"
One feels very much like a redneck for telling off a couple of young boys for "flirtin with my cousin"
But now I shall have to return and watch again the wonderful movie...

Heh. That's scary! My oldest boy is 11. :whimper: I don't wanna have to worry about him waylaying some girl from a bathroom trip to flirt with her :(

rofl the snake part made me jump a little inside.
It's very hard for a movie to scare me outwardly, though.
ANYWAYS, I THOUGHT IT WAS PRETTY FUNNY.

"I'm sorry, I don't speak MONKEY"
Hands down, my new favorite line for E.... he's 6 and all he speaks is some cross between monkey and demon.
GRUAAAAAAAAAH!
Whats that E? Timmy is trapped in the toybox?
GRUUAAAAAAAH!
Whats that E? You're going to kill me in my sleep?
That one and "Sunny... bite the head off this doll!"

On Topic.. I was going to watch it.. but maybe I will go see Blade - Trinity instead.
My girl and I went to see this one the night it came out. For a kid it would probably be a really good and somewhat scary movie but as an adult I could only find humor in the way the roles were played. Jim Carey was hilarious and I liked all the dark humor but in the end I give it about 2.5 stars out of 5.

I got a kick out of Olaf portraying a bird who was pecking at the sleeping guy's head. That pretty much made me splutter on my Mr. Pib

Meh. The parts I watched weren't bad.
It was (apparently) weird, as they went through the first three books, and then ended with something from the first book. I'm not positive, just what I'm told by Erin.
It'll be a renter for me. My son is too young to go see it so I'll wait until it comes out on PPV or grab the DvD when it hits BBV.
