So today, I tackled the job of taking down our Christmas Tree. I wish they had a maid service that would come do it for me.
After several poked and bloody fingers, 5 strands of lights later, the tree no longer even resembled a tree. It looked like something that is left behind after a fire, a few branches with some dead sprigs on it.
The point of all this is, I am just wondering .. how many of you that celebrate Christmas use a fake tree, vs how many of you use the real thing?

If you're a fake tree user, suggest me some scents, in order to get the fresh pine smell in my home. I am seriously considering going this route next year.
If you're a real tree user, tell me, every year, do you contemplate throwing the whole tree out, decorations and all, or is it just me?

Heh. Some places do have people who will come and decorate your home, inside and out. When the holidays are over, they'll come take the whole mess down, as well. It's a wonderful service! Yes!

I use a silk tree, personally. I love it! For scent, I use candles throughout the house. You can get all "flavors", and they really can be used to set the mood. :)

what kind of mood are you trying to set Harmnone?

Well, it sorta depends on what I have in mind at the time, Dave....

hahaha my parents got a fake tree and it's made my life a lot easier. no more taking it down and out. It's still no fun, but there's little mess to clean up afterwards. My mom would know the scents better than I would but i think she uses yankee candle scents, mainly. I dont know if they're all over or just a new england thing. Most people dont even know it's a fake tree, the house basically smells like a tree. The only difference is the fake tree is capable of spinning around, we never use it because i imagine it to look retarded, but it's an option. If you use that, I would imagine people would recognize it as being fake.

Yanno, I doubt we have anything like that here! (Quickly considers a new holiday business opportunity) I am jealous!
The candle's thing is a good idea. I might just have to skip this mess next year. :)
Thank you for your suggestions.

A lot of people that use fake trees buy real wreaths or garlands and get the scent that way.

I also use a fake tree. I don't think I ever had a real tree. My mom is what you would call a "Tree Hugging Hippie," so chopping down tree's for a holiday is not high on her list. I like the whole fake tree thing cause its cheaper because of the whole reuse factor. I also use candles to scent the house. Yankee Scents are my favorite candles and available here in Washington State as well. A Rotating Tree would be neat, but then again I love the tacky!

I prefer no tree.

The last three years, Jake and I have gone somewhere else for Christmas. No Christmas at our house = no tree to worry about. I wouldn't do a fake tree, though, vom. One year Jake took the potted palm in our room and put it on the table, hung like six ornaments on it, and put our presents all around it. It was cute. No cleanup.

I use a small fiber optic tree (3 or 4ft I think).. and at this point in my life, I don't see a need for more than that. All I do is throw it in the box and stuff it back in my closet, come New Years. I've never liked the idea of cutting down a tree just for a couple weeks of enjoyment.

Real trees for the past 19 years at least. I too have contemplated tossing it ornaments and all, but it's not even my job to de-decorate it, so I don't stress too much about it. We just chuck it out back and continue the circle of life.

I have a small fake tree. It rocks so hard and is still up.

My tree has been up for over a year. God we are lazy. Still haven't taken it down. Still debating if its worth the time and energy. The Geek Tree lives! :evil cackle:

As further proof of the geek tree, we actually have a medium sized Deep Space Nine ornament which I managed to stick to the top of the tree so it's near the star, like you know, the worm hole. As of yet none of my roommates have thought this was half as cool as I did.

To maintain some semblance of on topicness, I will post the top of my Christmas tree in picture post it up.

However, in her defense I should add that all the talking Star Trek ornaments on the tree are not mine, but in fact my girlfriends.

More on topiciy goodness, I am still lobbying to leave our tree up until our house burns down, just so I don't have to store and then un-store boxes of decorations.
