Do paladins need crit or damage padding? I've spoken with Roblar about warriors on the topic and both he and Jeril are adamantly in the no padding necessary camp and rather want TD on their plates. But, Paladins don't have the same level of Redux compared to warriors. Asking, since Duskruin is coming soon.

No one needs padding, so don't sweat this horribly. It's definitely nice to have, but Paladins end up in plate. That alone is a ridiculous amount of protection.

TD also doesn't tend to be a problem for Paladins. (plate is part of that)

I would think that critical padding is more important due to being able to get out of stuns/webs/etc. that would otherwise open you up for being plinked to death. However, RT stacks still suck.

I have always been a fan of crit padding, but at cap with high warrior redux in plate, I feel HDP is more helpful as MOST hits don't even qualify as a critical. I of course always question that decision with an instant crit kill, though those are few and far between.

I think the HCP something resist greathelms from Duskruin are a GREAT addition to ANY full coverage armor, since it covers head, eyes, and neck which tend to be most susceptible to death crits.
I REALLY hope they are still in stock, I always get a few and sell/gift them between duskruins. I actually have a spare one on hand (shaped like a wizard hat, which makes no logical sense to me) if you are interested for 3M or 3k BS.

EDIT
The crush version is absolutely clutch during the "stonie times" when you get into stone valley and the bowels.

Personally, I'd take HDP over HCP.

But I'd take MCP over MDP.

I think in general crit padding is the most helpful addition to armor for paladins. It is what I picked anyway. The only time damage padding would be preferable would be on a relatively low spell zealot build where you are more acting like a warrior with some buff spells. IE, if you are expecting to get hit and just to survive them, damage helps.

Because of Guardians of Sunfist, I opted for HDP on full plate. I'm also trained up to 120 for that added oompf. I don't recall the last time pure damage took me out, it's mostly been maneuver crit kills.
