Locksmith has been there forever, yeah. It was really only when lich came around the whole process became extremely automated (at least, I don't remember any locksmith box scripts back then).

Didn't the NPC locksmith used to only be able to handle one box at a time or something? Like you had to place the box on the counter, ring the bell, pay the locksmith, get the box, and if someone was taking their sweet time with their box on the counter it caused a line to form?

The counter thing was part of it. IIRC you couldn't just PAY LARTON after he quoted a price and have it deduct from the silver you were carrying, you had to GIVE LARTON the exact amount. I don't think you could EMPTY containers then, either.

You can also type pay 0 (zero) and that takes the correct amount of silvers, but you can't pay any other amount under the cost appraised.

Didn't the NPC locksmith used to only be able to handle one box at a time or something? Like you had to place the box on the counter, ring the bell, pay the locksmith, get the box, and if someone was taking their sweet time with their box on the counter it caused a line to form?

I’m not sure. I didn’t start using him until all the lockpickers disappeared.

Strangely enough, I have a capped 3x pick/disarm rogue and it’s still not worth the time to pick my boxes vs. using the NPC locksmith.

Fairly certain it was this.... they changed it so you don't have to put your boxes on the counter anymore, just needs to be in your hand(s) now.
