How does this look for a Weed Mage build that can also use a sword? I know archery would make more sense from a economy of force sense, but he has a coraesine OHE that I want to use. My experience from here on will go into DODGE till I get it to 2x. This is 20m experience points spent. I still need good armor (am currently using 10x fulls, but am selling them to buy decent chain based armor). I kept my armor training at 70 in order to be ready when I get it.

Why stop at 70 ranks of armor?
Go to 120, bare minimum. If you are fighting something that goes for the eyes, put on a helmet for hauberk. If not, then you've overtrained yourself back down to double chain for manuevers.
My ranger has 160 and it's worth it in hauberk. People will cry about hinderance, but you can negate that with a Paladin's assistance.

I don't have any MA friends. I just came back to the game this week so no pally for me. My main way of killing will be spike thorns and 635. I took 5 levels of hamstring too as a set up. I trained to 70 armor for aug chain. He was at 110 for haiberk but the hindrance was too much. Eventually I will move back to Tera's isle once my lowbie warrior is old enough.

I agree with overtraining armor if you have the points, which Orbstar does. Isn't the roundtime bonus for hauberk trained off at 70 ranks, though? So, it should be 120 and 170 for the manuever reductions from overtraining armor.

The Rt and action penalty adder for aug chain is 8. So 20*8 is 160 skill required to get the base action penalty of 16. To knock it down to a penalty of 14 I need to overtrain to 100 ranks. To knock it down to action penalty of 10, I'd have to put in 150 ranks. I just don't know if the juice is worth the squeeze yet for that. I suppose I could drop down my tertiary skills like in first aid and swim/climb to 70/50 to free up armor points. But that won't get me to the 100 rank threshold for the next AP reduction. Isn't getting dodge to 2x more desire able sine we can cast mobility etc?

Sorry, Briar is correct on the calculations on armor, it's been a minute since I've played mine.
With the skills and setup you have, the SMR system should be the only thing troubling you. This mitigates some of that by removing armor penalties, furthering your invulnerability. If you are interested further in making yourself immune to it all, a Divine Shield item is magical with rangers and 640 combined.

So it takes two casts to kill ithzir champions and generally one for all other ithzir. What do you all use to bring griffins down?

Just wait for them to attack or use 615 in offensive to knock them out of the sky. 610 can also whip up and grab them.

just curious my oldest personal ranger is like level 30 .... but why so much MOC and no ambush

Cmans can help aiming enough at those ranks where legging is a non-issue and my guess is why have 2 aimed strikes at 10-16 seconds when you can have 3 unaimed strikes in the same time. Probably leads with 616 and then focused mstrike to finish.

Ya it's for flavor. Using spells to kill. Use hamstring to make a critter prone then spike it. Also to help force on force mechanics.

Plus this character has no hiding capability whatsoever outside of using 608. Open aiming takes CM into consideration instead of Ambush.

Open ambushing takes both CM and Ambushing into consideration. The more CM you have, the less ambushing you need. The first 25-30 ranks in Ambush seem the most beneficial in conjunction with 2x CM for open aiming.

The base comparison was a ranger with 202 ranks. I didn't want to break out semantics for arguement's sake, sorry. What next, going to suggest he carry a feras weapon to hamstring with?

No, I'll leave that to you. I would however suggest ruby amulets to hide behind.

Lol, don't get mad, get Glad with Flexlock.
You should appreciate that someone thought outside of the box and got creative! Agreeing prior to not being able to spike limited my ability.

As a Simu employee, you should really not derail threads!
Not mad. I reread that duel not too long ago.

Your feedback has been noted.
I'd call my friend Wyrom on you but my back fat is grated to this couch my mom was going to throw out so I can't reach the phone.

You two remind me of that meme. The one that goes: "You know how I know you're a nerd? You read games."

I saw this thread title on My Activity list and my first thought was. What the hell is ranger weed and where can I get some?
