HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Reggie White, one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history, died Sunday, his wife said. He was 43.
``Today our beloved husband, father and friend passed away,'' White's wife, Sara, said in a statement through a family pastor. ``His family appreciates your thoughts and prayers as we mourn the loss of Reggie White. We want to thank you in advance for honoring our privacy.''
A cause of death was not immediately known.
A two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, White played a total of 15 years with Philadelphia, Green Bay and Carolina. He retired in 2000 as the NFL's all-time leader in sacks with 198. The mark has since been passed by Bruce Smith.
``We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of the greatest men ever to play the game of football,'' Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement. ``On behalf of the entire Eagles family, our condolences go out to his wife, Sara, to his children, and to all those who have been touched by Reggie throughout his life. His legacy on and off the football field will never be forgotten.''

That's a shame, Reggie White was a good man with great morals. I wish he had taken a job broadcasting instead of fading from the view of the NFL. I respect the man's wishes though, he always wanted to be a quiet man of the faith.
He will be missed.

really?
whatever drug he was using to enhance his play might be a cause
and before you post. please research and tell me one NFL player that does not use some type of drug.
Thats a bit of a rediculous request considering its impossible for us to prove that someone doesn't take a preformance enhancing drug.
I mean were talking about the death of a guy who was a minister and whose teammates never had a bad thing to say about. Anything I've read about him has been positive and I really don't understand the need to try and protray him in a negative light, especially since just like we can't prove there are players who took drugs you can't prove that he did.

You tell me to research and you make a general statement that ALL NFL players use drugs. Hmmm... quite hipocritical, but of course I wouldn't expect anything else from you.
Anyway, it's just an article about an NFL player that died. I posted the article, take it as you want.

He was a great player and from everything I've ever heard, a great teammate. The NFL will be at a loss...

Wow TOJ.. some earth shattering news there. People in sports use drugs. I would say that 98% of the ENTIRE POPULATION OF THE UNITED STATES uses drugs.
Of course, you originally meant illegal drugs.. but since you couldn't back that up with any facts.. you fell back to the old "Drugs" moniker. Weak.
I used advil today... that makes me a DRUGGIE!!!!!

Yeah, it was a pretty weak argument.
I don't think sleep apnea is caused by creatine or whatever other non-illegal 'drugs' you speak of, TOJ.

So TOJ.. are you saying that every NFL player uses illegal drugs or are you saying that every NFL player uses some kind of drug. If it's the first one, please provide some documentation.. because nothing has ever been proven. If it's the second one.. I think I've already covered how weak and thin that argument is.
An NFL great died and it's ashame that someone has to throw out an unproven claim that he was an illegal drug user and that was the cause.

Simple responses to your simple bullets so you understand.
"Every NFL player uses some kind of drug" is like saying every adult living in the United States today uses some kind of drug. Well no duh. What the hell would you have them do.. meditate the pain away? You make it sound like you are above the use of Advil, asprine or caffein (which you are not)
Fine. I hadn't heard that he was a racist.. but it certainly doesn't surprise me. I consider a great many prominant black people 'racists'. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the list goes on and on.
Still doesn't have a thing to do with his death though.

Asprin, soda, alcohol, vitamins.... even without playing football that list right there would take out at least 95% of the league. If you are talking performance enhancing drugs then your statement has no way of being backed up, if you meant any sort of drug then its almost impossible not to make the list.

Everyone has said something that can be put up and sound racist.
He was friends with blacks and whites, some of his best friends were white.
White people were blessed with the gift of structure and organization. You guys do a good job of building businesses and things of that nature and you know how to tap into money pretty much better than a lot of people do around the world.
Hispanics are gifted in family structure. You can see a Hispanic person and they can put 20 or 30 people in one home. They were gifted in the family structure.
When you look at the Asians, the Asian is very gifted in creation, creativity and inventions. If you go to Japan or any Asian country, they can turn a television into a watch. They're very creative. And you look at the Indians, they have been very gifted in the spirituality.
When you put all of that together, guess what it makes. It forms a complete image of God. God made us different because he was trying to create himself. He was trying to form himself, and then we got kind of knuckleheaded and kind of pushed everything aside.
Yeah, really racist.
