View Full Version : Sick during the seasons.
Anyone else sick? I've been whooping-coughing out green doodoo since a little before Christmas eve.
P.S. Don't take Nyquil if you're too physically uncomfortable to sleep.

Yepper, as explained in the other Christmas thread, I've a nasty case of bronchitis. Go albuterol!
Damn. I've been using some glucocortecoid inhaler to battle inflamation.

I've been sick for almost 3 weeks now.
Shit, please tell me it isn't this cough that's been going around. 3 weeks is too much! :spaz:

I have been on amoxicillin for about 3 days, and it's just now starting to get better. But my coughing still manages to act up right before I want to go to bed.....

I was pretty miserable the day before christmas eve (so much so that I ended up not going to sleep), but I'm much better today.

I've been taking antibiotics and some odd named cough suppressant. Lemme find it...
DM-PSE-GFN ER tablets for the cough stuff (never heard of em)
and Augmentin XR for the antibiotics. I've had a cough/could for about 3 weeks myself now.
Heh, I haven't been on antibiotics for a good while, but I think the last one I took was Augmentin for Strep.
Also, I totally have a low grade fever now, dern tylenol didn't supress it either. Or maybe it did, but my anthracis bacillis will kick back in full strength when it wears off! :spaz:

To those who are taking antibiotics: Did your doctors run tests (throat culture or whatever) to verify that you have a bacterial illness, or did they just give you the prescription and assumed it was bacterial?
A cold is a virus, and antibiotics don't work on viruses at all. Also, some illnesses will run their course, making it just look like antibiotics are working when they're not doing anything at all.
Antibiotics kill bacteria - including the bacteria your body needs to fight off -other- sicknesses. I think the only time I'd ever take them is if I had a serious infection, like in my kidney or lungs or something. That's when they do the most good, compared to the potential weaken your immune system and open it up to even more illness.
As for me, I've been healthy this season. Major chapped lips, but it's dry as hell in this house. Usually my bronchitis acts up, but I've been lucky this year, so it's just a wee bit of a cough first thing in the morning when I get out of bed, then I'm good to go for the rest of the day.
When I do have an attack, which can last up to 3 months, I pretty much live on nyquil just to get myself to sleep. Other than that I don't do anything for it and it goes away by itself.

I feel your pain. Someone else was kind to pass on this disease to me. I should go back and kick him in his ass. The common cold sucks and people who give you the cold deserve to die.
