My brother works at Wright Patt, Skeeter. Told me they were letting folks go home early today. I figured it'd be a cold day in hell before they would let us leave, but we didn't even have a Level 1 emergency in Franklin Co. We probably have at least 6 inches now and it's freezing rain on top of the snow.
I am sooo glad I went to the grocery last night. The christmas shoppers were annoying, but it couldn't have compared to what it would have been like tonight.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. My hometown is about 30 minutes from the state line, and about 45 minuts from where they have the state fair.
In late January, I get to to go Huntington for 5 weeks for conductor training. Fun, fun.
is it norfolk southern? If so you will have training next door to where I work heh
Nah, CSX. Initial training is in Huntington, and then I get flown to Atlanta Georgia for a few more weeks.
And to be on topic, it's raining here. Mmmmm, soggy Christmas.

Here's plenty for you. The drift outside the door is about 3 1/2 ft. It least the snow finally stopped, looks likes just over 2' total.

HarmNone, it sounds like a good time for....
A BONFIRE!
See, we gotta move All Soul's to just around now-ish, and have it extend til mid-March. Then we can have continual bonfires going all over the place, and the snow will melt, and it'll be warm again. I'm up for a bonfire dance if you are!

Bring it on! At least, bonfires are warm! If we can get them warm enough, we can dance sky-clad!

I drove through a snowstorm in Albuquerque yesterday, turned the damned highways to ice. Nothing like that though, maybe 5 inches and a lot of freezing.

It's rainy here.
But I'm happy it is, because my car had way too much salt from the roads on it. Because of the snow (if you can even call it that) we had this past Sunday.

When you are taking trampolines down, boarding up your home, your in-laws and Aunt and Uncle's home- directing your entire facility's disaster plans, not to mention packing up the family and sending them off to another area of the state to avoid a hurricane that may never hit - I'll remember how you just stabbed me mortally in the heart by showing me a picture of paradise when we can't even hope to get out of the driveway.
:fu:
At least we'll have what resembles a true wintery Christmas.

I've lived in Florida a total of 12 years and have had to worry about a hurricane a total of 5 times. How many times in the past 12 years have you had to deal with snow?

I did everything right, too. Stocked up on firewood, rented some good n cheesy horror movies, bought some kettle corn, even stocked up on cat supplies.
We got snow flurries. Then rain. Then it all froze. So my yard is basically frozen mud, instead of this beautiful vista of whiteness.
I'm gonna close the curtains, light a fire and pretend. Hell I played GS all those years, pretending is now second nature.

My one experience with getting stuck in snow was the blizzard of '83 in New York. We ended up spending the night on the Cross Bronx Expressway because traffic just stopped - for about ten hours. Luckily we had a full tank of gas, a huge selection of tapes, stuff to read, munchies and cans of soda. Not to mention an ounce of grass and a bus in front of us with a bathroom.
Damn, I miss the good old days sometimes. Now it's four-wheel drive, no more munchies 'cause of the over 40 waistline issues, CD's instead of tapes, and gave up pot 15 years ago when memory issues became more frightening than funny. That snowstorm was fun, tho.

Gads, happy to be California born and raised. Snow is cold, wet and boring. Hard to drive in, harder to live in. It's like living in ice cubes. One can only have so many snow fights, sleddings, slopes, etc. I HATE the snow. Hail here is unique, when it hails, like 2-3x a year, it's a huge thing. No snow, rare rain storms, warm (not hot where I am) summers, decent winters, heaven. :) Bout 6 years ago we had floods from rain, that was a big deal, took my brother's big wheeler truck out in the floods, he was in Europe. Very content were I am, thank you. No humidity, no dry heat, no extremes for cold or hot. How any can appreciate the snow... gah, ew.

I think this needs a bump due to it once again being almost too bad to drive, just after all the snow was cleared off from last time.
