You may want to mention that this weapon is a T4 nervestaff(fully unlocked), for those unfamiliar with the item it was altered from.

There's four levels of attunement. Those can mean that there's no extra time/exp to fully double the extra time/exp of the normal attunement cycle to use the full power of the nervestaff.

It's not time, it's counted in non-fatal attack cast hits: 10,000 for unattuned and up to 20,000 if completely attuned to a previous owner.

So basically go rapid fire + minor shock on a few HP heavy critters and bingo, attuned then?

Yes, I have unattuned a couple this week. By a few though you mean a lot. You can always buy this and sell it once it is unattuned.

Does the relative level of the critter you're hitting to (un)attune matter?

I believe it has to be a critter you can learn from. Can't fix it by slaughtering roltons. Not sure if over hunting speeds things up...hasn't seemed to.
