Hello everyone. I have a couple of FTP characters I was trying out and I haven't been playing to much recently so I'll see if anyone wants them while I'm taking a small break. I have a small vacation coming up this year and I would prefer Paypal over silvers but willing to negotiate. Stats and gear are what to be expected with a FTP character most will come with gear that was good enough to hunt at their level, and most have some recent deaths (i.e. death sting). If you are interested shoot me a message :)
*Silver buyout reduced.
$20 level 23 Warrior Halfling 2m silvers
$25 level 22 Empath Erithian 3m silvers

would be a shame if the new faces are being seen behind things like this, enjoy your vacation and good luck with your sales.

Stats are what to be expected with a F2P character? Seems like stats would relate more to your ability to use a spreadsheet than to being F2P.

I think he means that you wouldn't target level 100 for stat growth as F2P since you're not likely to ever achieve that level if keeping the character as F2P.

That is 100% correct

Wouldn't buying the XP pots from the simustore allow you sub-like exp again? And I guess no one has yet attempted to get to cap as a F2P?

The XP pots are 3 hours duration, and if you bought sufficient amount of those to actually level effectively to 100, you would probably be paying close to 10-20x as much as just subscribing.

Quick calculation Maerit. You want to get to cap which for a reasonably experienced player who's played through before, it would take conservatively 6000 hours (yes I know some people can do it a bit faster). That means you would need 2000 of these EXP pots (although from 1-20 you kinda don't need it). It's 40 for the greater exp pot (the "sub" exp) and 20 for the lesser (gives sub exp for less than level 50). Since it takes far longer post 50 (vast majority of that 6000 is spent post 50) we'll say a rough calculation of 36 Simucoins per "sub exp" pot.
2000 x 36 = 72,000 simucoins, and (since this is a long term "see if I can do it" thing, we got the 130,000 simucoin for 999.99$).
It comes up to roughly 554 dollars for sub exp from 0-100.
Now, it all depends on how you play to get the most out of the sub. Let's suppose you play 4 hours a day, everyday 365 including holidays weekends etc. etc. that comes up to little over 4 years to cap, and roughly 740$ spent. Noone I know who plays GS, plays 4 hours a day every single day. Yes, there are crazy people who play this much and more but whatever.
I suppose if you increase your play time to 6 hours or so a day, yes subbing is better. Also note, I'm not including society pass or adventure guild waivers or treasure passes or high end gear passes etc. (which are all included in a sub) or LUMNIS (which is a massive unbelievable benefit and expense to a F2P). So, in reality the sweet spot is more around 2 or 3 hours a day, let's just safely call it at 2 hours. That is, if you play Gemstone for more then 2 hours every day 365, yes, subbing is definitely worth it.
Actually, this really depends on Lumnis, again GS is not F2P friendly not by the least and I frankly wouldn't even call it F2P (again you know my huge spiel about this). How much does not having Lumnis increase the total play time to cap, it's probably significant, although I haven't done the calc.

The most cost effective way to cap is to buy a naked Half-Krolvin monk.

You also get boost pass experiences while hunting and from login bonus, which will allow you to absorb full exp for 1 hour. In my experience and guesstimation the rate these accumulate and can be used would trim about 2-3% from the F2P cost. As an F2P you lose significant amounts of potential silver while hunting, if you plan to factor silver selling into the cost.
