And at what point in ranged training does the majority of the 'flies wide of the target' shots go away?

Range is heavily perception based. I think the analysis of the range attack type found like 40 ranks of perception is the magic number to stop 99% of those results.

I don't know if you're a caster, but 404 does give minor benefit to aiming as well.

That is interesting. It seems like 402 should have been the spell that helps with aiming.
