Bigshot running past creatures

New to bigshot, using it on a new character in rats.. For some reason it runs through the hunting area passing up 90% of the rats it sees and every once in a while will stop and attack. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I don't believe bigshot works on rats in the catacombs.

It works in the catacombs in general, just not in the "nexus" area behind the grate.

The rooms are mostly identical, so the map DB can't tell them apart. The room exits are special things like "move southwest until i'm back in at the nexus", so it keeps on carrying passed the rats.
