With the upcoming OFFICIAL celebration of 120th anniversary of Kharam Dzu, I thought i'd just set one contest. The following has been posted in the officials:
So I thought I'd set a contest as my way of celebrating the upcoming celebration.
Limerick Contest
This contest is simple. Provide the last line for the limerick below.
The prize will be the donation of 15 minutes of alteration time recently won.
A young Kharam Dzu dwarf named Zale
Went to Bentock's and drank too much ale
He awoke in the bed
Of a buxom red head
{Your submission}
Keep it clean-ish please.. Can be funny, clever, imaginative. I'll be judging. Will try and rope in some other judges too.
Just email your submissions to me at bremerial@gmail.com before 11.59pm EST on 5th June, with the character name and i'll announce the winner of the contest on the 6th June at around 8pm EST, before other scheduled festivities take place at 9pm.
Can I ask for one submission per account (although I'll have no way of checking)

Getting some really positive responses. Excellent all! Let's do this..
Will start by thinking through timings. Need to avoid clashes with other events. I'd better find out what events are scheduled this year.

Ummm
>>The 120th anniversary is definitely on our radar. We're still working on the project, so no announcements are being made at this time!
>>~Galene
I still think working on some of the ideas stated above is a good idea. Can't have too much of a good thing... :D

Are there dates yet?
Obsidian Tower is in assuming the scheduling works out.

No dates yet. Still early days.
Galene's announcement in the Officials that that the 120th anniversary is on the official radar is a promising sign, but i'd like to still go ahead and make arrangements for a players orchestrated festival. If we get a date for an official event, then we can integrate plans made here with any official schedule. Normally with official events there are a number of gaps in timings where players are left to their own devices, to take a breather, or play with NPC characters in automated games and challenges. So there is scope for inclusion of anything we produce to fill those gaps.
I will take a pragmatic approach. I will hope for an official event of some type to be arranged but plan for the no event manifesting itself, to ensure that we actually have something take place this year. (No disrespect meant to officialdom. Consider this a nodding recognition of the fact that even the most organised of us can suffer from what is euphemistically called 'slippage' and good intentions cannot always manifest themselves as deeds.)
Realistically you are talking about 4 months to arrange everything as a minimum, given other external commitments of everyone. Obsidian Tower and Helden Hall - your offers of support are appreciated. Will also be touching base Elvenlady regarding the possibility of organising something through Sylvanfair and/or Elanthian Elegance.
As I say, my first task is to discount weeks which are already heavily committed for presheduled events. I will write to Wyrom and ask which months/weeks are best to be avoided based on festivals already scheduled-ish.
Since Ive been banging on and on and on about this for a while, I thought id raid my locker and donate some neat items as prizes. I'll stop short at my armor and bane claid but other than that, will use anything I can find as a prize. Hell, its a good cause.
..which reminds me, if anyone else has items they'd like to donate as prizes, let me know.
That's about it for now. Thanks for listening and let the planning BEGIN!

I already have my year tentatively mapped out for both Sylvanfair and Elanthian Elegance/The Looking Glass but more than happy to shift things around to accommodate you! We'll discuss firming up plans once you get a better idea of dates from the PTB.
Excited!

Ok all' could use some input regarding the best time of year to have a commemorative event on Teras. Opinions please. Forget February and March as that's a bit soon to organise. Beyond that though, any thoughts please?

Kharam Dzu 120th Anniversary Celebration on 04/27/2017 08:28 PM BST
Attention all Terasians (and visitors and future guests)! We're happy to announce a celebration to honor the founding of our great city by Ghorsa Borthuum, 120 years ago.
The festivities will be held the week of June 1-8, with some shops remaining open until the 9th. We will provide more details and a schedule of events the week before, but you can expect to see things like..
A hot air balloon!
The reveal of an expansion to the Stormbrow Gallery!
Food and drink native to all parts of Elanthia!
Games and merchants!
Shopping!
Announcement of the verb contest winners!
Citizens' pins and souvenirs!
This is going to be a cultural event, not a massive gear-acquiring event, but we expect it to be great fun. Meanwhile, please continue to be on your guard, as the island's seismic activities have still been occurring with more frequency than usual. Be alert! Stay alive to party with us for the anniversary!
~Liia
Dear My Favoritest Liia,
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height my barbie-loving soul can reach... (even when you set me on fire)

From Officials:
Here are scheduled events for the upcoming festivities!
Thursday, 6/1 - Festival opens around 9pm ET. Watch for realm-wide messaging signaling the fun and dramatic arrival of town favorites to kick things off! Refreshment and a souvenir will be available. After the opening announcements, we'll be taking anyone who is interested on a tour of the Stormbrow Gallery. Gift shop will be open!
Friday, 6/2 - Join us around 9pm ET in the museum's newly renovated party area for dance lessons, with or without a partner! If you haven't received a citizen's pin in the past, this will be a chance to get one.
Sunday, 6/4 - Join us once again in the Stormbrow Gallery around 9pm ET for a night of dancing and dining. Schmooze with town dignitaries. Find out who what new Terasian verbs will be available! Wear your finest garb here (check out the cultural accessories in the gift shop if you haven't before!) and prepare for stimulating conversation (though, with dwarves, that could mean anything) and who knows what else might happen!
On top of this, the drinking game will be open 'round the clock during the event, as will a few shops in the NE part of Kharam Dzu. Merchants will be visiting during the event, so watch for announcements!

Well done on getting information out on the shops so quickly. I'm impressed with the quality of the shops given that this is more a cultural event than a shopping one.
Going to be spending a good part of today just exploring every nook and cranny.
Will continue to promote the Limerick contest of course and hope to have at least one 'formal' drinking contest set up as well as some ad hoc ones.

I've corrected the date for the Limerick contest deadline in the TownCrier Newsfeed. I have no idea why I had it wrong.

Hi luxelle
The fault is mine. The original announcement for the festival was:
The festivities will be held the week of June 1-8, with some shops remaining open until the 9th. We will provide more details and a schedule of events the week before, but you can expect to see things like..
So I thought the last day would be the 8th with some shops staying open until the 9th. But the schedule announced on the 31st suggests that the closing ceremony will be the 4th. So the notion of having the recital of all the limericks and the announcement of the winner one hour before the closing ceremony is out of the window unless I change the deadline to tomorrow night.
Apologies. I didn't realise you were announcing on the TownCrier Newsfeed. So don't beat yourself up. Just beat me up instead!

My friend went on the tour and saw a gift shop. Later on he tried to take me to see it in the museum and we walked around forever and could not find it. He said it was near a children's area. Is that just open sometimes? I saw on the wiki that it said join the the museum tour and see the gift shop and on the 4th which looks like the last day it mentions the gift shop also. Anybody know what's sold in there?

the portal disappeared last night after the tour, it has reappeared this morning. go up the stairs just inside the museum and look behind the model.
the gift shop will be done later when i get home if no one else with the proper tools gets to it sooner.

Looking forward to that. I already left but if there is something good in there I may have to go back. Thanks!

By the way, if you've got brief room descriptions on in your Stormfront settings, you can't see the staircase to get into the museum. I finally figured that part out.

Just to remind you that entries for the Limerick cotest close at 11.59pm est today and I will read out all the limericks on Tuesday at 8pm est in the Pavillion outside the Stormbrow Museum. I know many non Teras Citizens will have a hankering for your respective homes. But hopefully some of you can either delay departure or pop back for the recital and announcement of the winner.
Also if you're up for it, the drinking game should still be there. I smell a challenge!
