Okay just found this havent appraised it yet, any thoughts?

It has +8 THW bonus and +4 str BONUS.

Level requirement for the THW bonus is what, about 26?

Two-handed sword isn't a preferable base, veil iron limits a lot of further work...if you ASSUME +12 from the bonuses, it would "effectively" be an 8x (+37) 2-handed sword.

Were it mine, I'd post it for 4m and work down from there.

why? (re bolded text?). Is it because of longer RT base as opposed to a maul and less overall damage when compared to greataxe?

Also, can veil iron be blessed? If so might be interested.

old-style claidhmores are two-handed sword based.

greatswords are fine, but people tend to prefer claidhs, greataxes, or mauls for THW.

It's not like, using a scimitar in OHE which actually fucking suck. It's just, not QUITE as good as other options so they end up being less popular.

This is a fun find, and for all it's problems people still seem to latch onto veil iron.

so advantageous if you have an old style chaidhmore since having wpsec in two handed sword would cover both I presume. Don't old style claidhs have an AS penalty? Trying to remember back to the my old playing days.

And what exactly are the problems with veil iron? Can't enchant or ensorcell I'm guessing?

can't do anything to it, and the only benefit is it unlocks the anti-magic cmans which 1) suck for the most part and 2) you can do with an ensorcelled weapon anyway

edit: also it's heavy by default (veil iron is 125% base weight). Not a huge concern for most people, but this weapon for instance should weigh 15 lbs fresh out of the hopper (THW base is 12)

Its a neat 5x sword. Its in its final form basically.

Its not +38 though guys. Those strength and THW rank/bonus go towards your enhancive cap at +20/40 bonus or +50 weapon. You cant add them as enchants or straight bonus quite like that.

4 million is probably a good number as a weapon or for the orb either side.

Thanks all this is good info. Too bad veil iron is an aborted effort, would of been cool if it had some serious advantages to outweigh the serious disadvantages of no bless/enchant/ensorcell. It should give a bonus to those CMANs comensurate to the bonus a blackjack gives to CMANs, for instance

since enhancives didn't exist back in the day and I'm still fairly new to them....care to explain further? Not quite following. There are enhancive caps?

Yea his point is certainly valid, some players already have reached the cap with STR and THW bonus via enhancive jewelry (i.e. they already have +50 THW bonus and +20 str BONUS from jewelry alone). For these players, they are going to want a forged weapon and/or high enchant, and have no need for an enhanced weapon or fusion weapon.
