*sigh* Not winning one of these seriously broke my heart. By the time the third one was up and gone, I had missed out on everything else I really wanted.

I'm surprised you didn't go after one of the gowns.... Vishra running around on fire swinging an OHB would be a sight.

I know. I was too worried about not having enough for the relic. And then, by the third one, it was to the point where I would've been left with like 200 silver.
I'm glad I got the stormhammer and all, but this relic will seriously haunt me.

Yeah, I missed a bunch of items waiting for the bow... which I should have known I could never win, BUT ALAS. The tattoo is proving to be a great choice.

Obvious solution for next auction: auction all ~170 items at once. Auction ends when nothing has a bid for 10 minutes.

Same here, I was comfortable spending 400-500m on the bow, and passed over other things waiting for it. Then I saw how crazy you all were! I too shouldn't have been surprised.
Ended up losing out on other things I wanted (with my 2nd account) but I got the thing I really wanted for my main.

I do wish they would automate the bidding cycle. If felt like the auctioneer lingered forever calling my deed sold.

There's an art to bidding, and auctioning too. I'd really hate to see the whole thing be automated.

A silent auction mayhaps, which is not the same thing as having bids be hidden.
A a complex of party rooms, the lists arranged on tables, a couple pits where items up are shown in demonstrations, a few hours of mingling and bidding, etc.

Same. Silent auctions are garbage. The open bidding aspect is what makes it fun, and also, more transparent.

I concur. In general I wouldn't mind seeing less often used base weapons/armor with great mechanics as a way to encourage people to use something else. That said, uac is definitely in that group and felt largely unrepresented

The pacing once bidding started was perfect. The questions is absolutely reasonable, and a good take-away to have more robust notes planned for subsequent auctions now that you all know that every single detail of every single item will be asked by multiple people at every point in the bidding process.... Or say f them, and don't let the GMs be whisper-able and let hilarity and potential buyer's remorse ensue!
I also got the feeling that the GMs knew how many coins the active bidders had available. I saw some items going quickly upon reaching a major threshold, which sometimes also resulted in a comment on LNET about how the person couldn't afford anymore... Made a lot of sense if that was happening!

Apparently nobody asked if the Thief set (gloves, boots, cloak) were UAC.
The gloves and boots are in fact pocketed UAC with special abilities, some of which aren't understood yet.
I will hopefully find out some day :-)
UAC is on the short list of skills to get.

What exactly is this coraesine relic?
Wiki:
Can be attached PERMANENTLY to a plain melee weapon. Allows the user to attack up to 5 additional times for mana and stamina per swing. The chance of additional strikes are random
Teaser:
You glance down to see a grey-swirled coraesine relic in your right hand and nothing in your left hand.
You try to eat your coraesine relic.
You fasten your coraesine relic to your attire.
You unfasten your coraesine relic from your attire.
You ponder.
You remove a wide golvern band from in your grotesque wound. >put relic on band The coraesine relic can only be attached to a weapon.
You say, "Aha."
You remove a razern katana from in your grotesque wound. G>put relic on katana Attaching the coraesine relic to the razern katana is a permanent action, if you're sure you'd like to do it, put the relic on the katana again within 30 seconds. G>put relic on katana
Ooooooooooooo|
Wyrom posted on officials too..
The Coraesine Relic is heavily influenced by the Offering in FF6. There it is a relic that lets you attack up to 4 times (Mog with dual Offerings and a pearl lance all the waaaaay), here it lets you attack up to 5 additional times. The actual ability is called Quick Flares. It was under the working title Frenzy Flares and Berserker Flares. The loresong and messaging is hijacked from (im)pure coraesine.

Is that special ability mentioned in the loresong?
Are you sure it is not referencing the thief abilities rather than UAC stuff?
Master Anony Mouse's boots will let the wearer sneak instantaneously BUT ONLY IN TOWN.
The gloves give you a pick pocketing bonus. If for some reason you wore all the pieces of this set. Of three, you would be a master thief. These in particular let you boost your pick pocketing by 40, for 10 minutes, with a cooldown of one hour.

There is no Lore Song when sung so far.
The sneak with no round time while hidden, and pick pocket boost when you clench the gloves appear to stand on their own. As well as the unfailable hide of the cloak.
When you waggle the gloves or knock the boots, or push the cloak, a few seconds later you see/hear noises.
The messaging also tells me nothing "seems to happen", or"trying to invoke some magic", or "slap the gloves and they make absolutely no sound".
The noises alone may simply be distractions, but the messaging raises one's curiosity.

I do not think the UAC was added as anything more than to ensure there were no drawbacks to the set. I don't believe there are any specific UAC properties, and the set is going to need to be enchanted.

I can tell you that Crime's last post is accurate. They aren't anything special for UAC, just there are no drawbacks to taking those slots. They are 0x UAC equipment and I think they aren't enchantable by normal means. That may be a bug though, I'll check.

Thank you for the attention to this issue Wyrom.
Not being able to be enchanted to 7x by a player would be a major drawback IMO. Many rogues love UAC, and frankly I do plan to train it, but now I have to swap them out if I want better UAC gear? I'd think the issue of needing to enchant them is issue enough! :) However, given the risk of failure and destruction of this unique set, I think I'd understand this "oversite".
Anyone selling LOTS of PP? LMAO

that makes it a little less annoying :D thought it was some more scripty UAC goodness. And honestly it would be pretty funny if they were like knockout flaring gloves or something.
When finesse doesn't work...knock the stupid jerk out and take their god damn wallet (coin hand?)

Thread hijacking aside, ANY pair of boots or gloves should have basic UAC function. That should be standard code at this point. What you really should be complaining about is that rogues are better at UAC than monks.

Well, rogues are technically more the thug side of UAC though. And at 3/1, it's a pretty big investment before you're capped.

I've already posted a rant about new boots/gloves being non-UAC on the officials months ago so I'll just say I agree.

I like the stone boots I got at the auction. I would have liked to have seen a new type of script or something involving uac at the auction, like we saw on other items. The dragonsib set was also interesting. maybe something special where if you wear the gloves and boots they feed off each other or something like that, so you have to keep them together as a set.

Well the thief set comes close. They do compliment each other specifically in town during invasions. Sometimes it is hard to hide in front of a boss mob, with the cloak and cman Vanish you can't fail and it is with no RT, as is sneaking while hiding, and then there is the gloves pick pocket boost which conceivably could come into play. I once stole a key off Devastior while he was walking into Hearthstone in the 90s.
That's perhaps the rub to the set, and part of why I hesitated bidding on the gloves, the set's value seems dulled not working outside the gates and there is no combined effect, and frankly they overly nerfed pick pocket mechanics. Theiving activities tend to be very much town only though so in the spirit of the intent, applaud the designer, though I also think giving the rarity of the set it wouldn't break over arching mechanics to permit use outside during the night or dark places :)
I believe I saw this same theif set many years ago as I peel back the onion of my memory, and someone congratulated me on my "Dhask" set. I can't say for sure, but I do recall not liking town only mechanics back in the day
That said, I really liked the mechanics inside the gates during an invasion :), though would love it if having the set enabled them outside the gate! Wink wink. Perhaps if just for the town perimeter.
