Wiki says "The bastard sword, when used two-handed, does the most raw damage per minute out of all the two-handed weapons." Yet when you look at the DF's and AVD's of either a maul, two-handed sword, or battle axe, they seem to be nearly similar or even better in a lot of circumstances.

As I have a character I am switching to using THW's, and I know of a bastard sword that fits this character nicely, I wanted to get some feedback on this before I spend the money on the bastard sword.

Thank you for your help.

not sure if the raw damage per minute still holds true with dex/agi enhancives

I thought I deleted that line a long time ago. I dunno if it's ever been true except maybe for a character with 0 agidex swinging at a critter with no armor before mstrike or katanas were released?

Thank you both for clarifying.

I always interpreted it to mean all things being equal, ie. swing speed, not sure about katanas though. One thing there is to consider is that a bastard sword does not slow down as quickly as other two handers when encumbered.

i haven't checked but it could have meant most DF per (base) RT. Obviously that doesn't mean much, unless as stated you have literally 0 agidex. Factors in slightly for multiswing mstrikes and once you get start getting encumbered but, meh.

There are some excellent swords im sure. The df is within tenths or .01 on a bunch of dfs.

My human warrior using a bastard sword gets three focused mstrikes or four unfocused mstrikes with a 10 second round time. Last I checked was 12 seconds with a maul, 13 with greatsword or claidh, or maybe it was 11 and 12?

Regardless the statement is almost definitely not accurate since those weapons have such superior DFs. I still use the bastard sword though since I have a high enchant one that he is bonded too along with several blessables, and I hate RT.

I just wish they could have a setting to lock the grip on a switchable weapon. I don't make it through a hunt without at least one time drawing the bastard sword prior to putting away a skinning knife, usually because coming out of RT and get caught with one sec (I don't script hunt), which automatically changes the grip to one hand.
