Mechanical Quiver is permanent Torkington Quiver, explained on this post:
http://forum.gsplayers.com/showthread.php?63228-Few-Item-for-Sale&highlight=quiver

Basically: Put in Shafts, (optional, add paint), (Optional Cast Spell), Turn crank, receive arrows.
With 100 shafts, the TURN QUIVER command takes 60 seconds. It will make all 100 arrows if you put 100 shafts in there. Minimum RT appears to be 10-15 Seconds, and I assume some even/random distribution of RT depending on shaft count.
RT is reduced with 535

Arrows look different as well. Using Faewood and Silvery white paint, I created:
"spiraled silvery white faewood-shafted arrow"s

I have been testing interactions with 304. When I cast 304 from a scroll, my faewood arrows were only +8. However, when I had a cleric cast bless at the quiver, they were the full +20.

There's also special messaging when firing:

You nock a spiraled silvery white faewood-shafted arrow in your dark sephwir longbow.
A subtle pure white light glints off the tip of a spiraled silvery white faewood-shafted arrow, leaving a faint trail as it travels through the air.
You fire a spiraled silvery white arrow at the undead thing!

I've tested the same arrow, and was able to fire it about a dozen times. HOWEVER... I made a stack of arrows to someone else, and it didn't work for him:
The silvery white arrow crackles once and grows dim. in the same line that is otherwise subtle pure white

If I use an element, I get double flares... a normal flare, and a poof flare:

You fire a spiraled silvery white arrow at a short grey goblin warrior! AS: +463 vs DS: +411 with AvD: +20 + d100 roll: +36 = +108 ... and hit for 1 point of damage! Talk about a close shave! Let's try closer next time.Your dark sephwir longbow fades some. As your silvery white arrow hits a short grey goblin warrior, it emits a burst of flame! ... 15 points of damage! Burst of flames char abdomen a crispy black. The tip of the silvery white arrow suddenly shatters and bursts into a ball of flame! ... 50 points of damage! Skin and some muscle burnt off chest.Roundtime: 6 sec.Roundtime changed to 1 second.

got a 3x 1235 master quality flute - raise to activate. And the plinite wristband that will generate a confluence opening, though I didn't realize until after bidding it wouldn't generate an exit, which kind of sucks, but whatevs. Happy with both, though I had really wanted that build your own.

a horse-carved white ivory flute - Stylized galloping horses have been incised across the bone-white ivory surface of the flute. Age has darkened the ivory along the incisions, resulting in the carved horses standing out starkly, outlined in brown, and yellowed at the edges.

Loresong:

A bright light flashes before your eyes and when your vision begins to clear you find yourself staring at what was not before you previously. The new scenery is that of a lush green field underneath a clear cerulean sky. A harras of ponies can be seen scattered across the field munching on the bounty of the land and colts frolicking with one another.

Far off in the distance at the end of the lush field lies the lake of Khesta 'Dahl. Faintly noticeable at the edge of the lake seems to be a dock and slight movement happening upon it.

Suddenly, the scene dissolves altogether.

A second bright light flashes before your eyes and when your vision begins to clear you find yourself staring from upon the lakeside dock now. A young halfling lad sits upon an overturned pail with a lengthy fishing pole in his hands.

The lad seems relaxed and content in his fishing, even if you notice he isn’t catching anything at all. Every so oft the lads turns to whistle loudly at the horses, corralling them and calling back any that may have wandered too far.

Suddenly, the scene dissolves altogether.

Another bright light flashes before your eyes and when your vision begins to clear you find yourself back amongst the ponies in the lush field.

The sky begins to darken quickly, and a strike of lightning illuminates a tall elf atop a hilltop off in the distance. He wears ebon black robes and wields a runestaff crafted of witchwood. Thunder booms loudly as lightning cracks, and the harras of ponies begin to neigh in a terrified manner and corral together in one tight-knit group.

Turning to look off in the distance toward the dock, the faint form of the halfling lad can be seen rushing toward the field as fast as his hairy little feet can take him, waving his arms wildly as he whistles loudly toward the ponies.

Suddenly, the scene dissolves altogether.

The bright light flashes again before your eyes, and when your vision begins to clear you find yourself standing atop the hillside beside the crazy-eyed elf in black robes. His hands are moving in intricate patterns in the air as a growled voice chants archaic phrases.

A sickly green miasma forms in the air around the elf before he thrusts his hands forward sending the jade-hued cloud quickly toward the corral of ponies. The ponies begin to neigh in an even more high-pitched tone before crashing lifelessly, one by one, to the ground.

Right as the halfling lad reaches the dead zone, the cloud dissipates into the air, leaving the lad unharmed. The lad screams out in rage and recites a vow of revenge upon the black-robed Ardenai elf that caused such death and destruction.

Suddenly, the scene dissolves altogether.

The bright light flashes again before your eyes, and when your vision begins to clear you find yourself back in the once-lush field. A circle of death surrounds you, as the only thing left now are the decayed remains of the magnificent ponies. Even the grass below your feet has dared not grow back in the area.

Nearby upon a rock sits the halfling lad, yet not a lad now. He has aged considerably since the event years ago and now mumbles dark curses underneath his breath as he turns a flute over and over in his hands.

Suddenly, the scene dissolves altogether.

The bright light flashes again before your eyes, and when your vision begins to clear you find yourself suddenly in a grand ballroom. All around you, elves dance the night away cheerfully, laughing and sipping fine wine.

At the edge of the room a vast table has been set up and pushed back against one wall. Upon the table sits a finely penned placard that reads, "Wedding gifts for King Aemon and Princess Elsevel." Movement near the far end of the table draws your eye toward a short, hunched-over robed figure, who sets a flute upon the table and then hobbles out of the ballroom as quickly as his old hairy feet will take him.

No one else seems to have noticed the extra gift placed upon the table.

Suddenly, the scene dissolves altogether.

The bright light flashes again before your eyes, and when your vision begins to clear you find yourself suddenly back in the grand ballroom, now empty except a few servant girls cleaning up the place after the wild celebration.

A young elven girl takes a moment to distract herself from the cleaning to gaze over the vast amount of gifts upon the table. She makes her way to the end of the table, and her eyes seem to brighten excitedly as she sets her sights upon the flute.

Quicker than the blink of an eye, the elven servant snatches up the flute and tucks it away in her bodice, then glances about to see if anyone had noticed. A soft murmur can be heard underneath her breath saying, "They obviously don't pay me enough silvers to clean up after them."

Suddenly, the scene dissolves altogether.

The bright light flashes again before your eyes, and when your vision begins to clear you find yourself outside the city of Ta'Ardenai. The young, elven servant girl stands nearby and is pulling the flute out of her bodice.

She quickly raises it and begin to play, but no noise escapes at first. She tries again and it sounds, loud and horrendous. She pauses, giggling, and then continues to play.

You sense a visceral change in the air as a symphony of spectral instruments fill your mind. The elven maid lowers the flute with a frown.

All of a sudden a gaggle of roltons rush into view and charge straight for the girl. Their eyes are bloodshot and a white foam seeps from their jowls. They leap toward her and land roughly upon her, knocking her to the ground, and then mauling apart her body in fervor. Blood and guts fly in all directions.

The frenzied cacophony fades from your mind, and the gaggle of roltons stop their attack abruptly. One by one, they turn and walk calmly into the distance and out of sight; the white foam disappearing from their mouths and the bloodshot look in their eyes fading quickly.

All that remains of the young girl is a shredded bodice and the flute resting atop it.

Suddenly, the scene dissolves altogether.

The faint sound of frenzied, chaotic music echoes across your mind before fading away.

a glowing plinite wristband - This rough wristband appears to shaped entirely out of solidified elemental essence. Unlike most plinite, the surface is entirely free of cracks and is very solid to the touch. A wholly inaccessible core glows brightly from within.

This is a small item, under a pound. In your best estimation, it's worth about 1,000,000 silvers.

You sense a faint aura of magic surrounding the wristband. From the pitch of the vibration you determine that the purpose of the wristband is unusual, but the exact use escapes you.

Ice cream churn -
Takes two food products - Looks like it needs to see a "flavor" in the item name. For example - a chocolate chip cookie makes chocolate chip ice cream. Blueberry wine made blueberry. Some brandy was brandy ice cream. Pumpkin and fudge also worked.
You can combine two flavors together.
Analyze:
This rhimar-lined churn is an ice cream maker. You could PUT appropriate food items into it and TURN the handle in order to churn it into ice cream or sorbet, depending on whether milk has been supplied. You can choose up to two flavors. If you change your mind, you can CLEAN the churn to empty out the chamber.

This churn is also fitted with a milk reservoir that you can FLIP on and off, a cone sleeve that you can TWIST open and closed, and a toppings carousel that you can SPIN. Once you have chosen a topping, you can PUSH the churn to either apply the topping to your dessert or brewed tea or coffee. If not topping a treat, you can PUSH the churn to place some of the topping into the chamber to flavor the next treat.

Toppings are: Cinnamon, raspberry syrup, cherry syrup, strawberry syrup, blackberrey syrup, chopped hazelnuts, scrapped vanilla bean pods, chocolate syrup, brightly colored sprinkles, chocolate shavings, white chocolate shavings, gooey marshmellow topping, whipped cream!

The ice cream and sorbet has a chance to cause brain freeze for 5 seconds of RT. Is lightly scripted with making a mess, like donuts, and gooey brownies.

Now with more loresong!

As your voice penetrates a rhimar-lined churn, the faint sound of bells echoes around you, followed by the laughter of a young child. A sudden chill fills the surrounding air as snowflakes brush against your face and a scene before you unfolds.

A young halfling child calls out, "Father!" as a boy charges in your direction and through you, stopping before a large wooden wagon filled with a variety of fresh fruit. A man hops down and scoops his young son up, spinning him in the air as the boy giggles furiously. "Soon you'll be old enough to travel with me and gather all the fruit for the shop," the man says as he tickles the small boy. The boy's face breaks into an enormous grin, and he nods with enthusiasm, stopping his father with a tight hug around his neck. On the ground once again, the duo make their way toward a small cobblestone house, each one grasping an overflowing basket of fresh fruit.

Through the frame of the frost-covered window, you observe the warm embrace between husband and wife as the young boys jumps up and down, awaiting another spin in the air. The smoke from the chimney suddenly obscures the vision, returning you back to your surroundings.

As you continue your song, the once refreshing chill of your previous vision has become a biting, unrelenting snowstorm. Sheets of ice fall at perilous angles, blinding your line of sight, but a pause in the gusts reveals the man yelling out into the storm, his cupped hands covered in thick leather gloves. A taller boy, the son aged at least a decade, emerges from behind a weathered wooden wagon, leading the horses toward a small stable.

A loud peal of thunder breaks the silence of the evening, and your vision becomes a blur of scenes assaulting your senses: a horse rearing in fear, the young boy throwing his hands up for protection, the father arriving to push his son away, the unmoving figure lying in the snow, the uncontrollable sobs drowning out the thunder... and with a bright flash of lightning, the vision disappears.

As your eyes open, you are once again in front of the cobblestone house, and the now-dilapidated wagon rolls slowly toward the front. A young man jumps down from the seat, rushing to grab a pair of wicker baskets, and spills several brightly colored fruits upon the snowy ground. A door opens, and an older gentleman emerges, leaning heavily upon his cane. The younger man runs up to him, embracing him tightly, his arms animated as he regales his father with tales of his travels.

The father smiles and laughs alongside his son, but his gaze is a melancholy one as he walks back inside the house. The son glances at his father's form, then the pieces of fruit laying upon the snow. A moment of realization dawns upon him, and he quickly gathers a number of supplies, rushing off with tools and fruits in hand.

Your song draws forth a familiar cooling breeze, the fall of snowflakes once again dancing about your form. The elderly gentleman sits quietly, gazing out a window at the snow-covered wagon outside. The tinkling sounds of bells catches his attention, and he turns, surprised by the scene in front of him. The young man holds out a small wooden barrel, a familiar grin upon his face. "I've found a way to enjoy our fruits without having to travel!" he exclaims. He places his contraption upon a table, then places a small basket of ingredients within it. He shows his father the proper way of sealing the barrel and turning the crank, his words a jumble of excitement and joy. The father nods along with the words, his smile quickly morphing into a grin that rivals his son's as he opens the churn to discover the finished treat.

The boy tilts his head inquisitively toward his father, awaiting a verdict. The father turns, slowly standing up to face the boy, then immediately lurches forward, father and son embracing as the vision fades in a flurry of silvered snowflakes.

some gem-encrusted platemail (6x)

Seems to work just like the gem-eater weapons, only with padding instead of weighting.

I slapped in an uncut diamond and it now assesses as Very Heavy Critical Padding. So, I'm guessing rubies will be +15 Damage Padding. I rather doubt I'll be using the flare gems, but ANALYZE tells me there are 15 different options.

rune-carved dark veil iron hammer 5x, lightning flares (which I really want to strip off so I can bond and get double plasma), RAISE to cast quake and TURN to cast call wind. (one costs 24 mana and one costs 28 mana). Special abilities cause between 3-5 seconds of RT.

Loresong is amazing, and it makes a storm appear in the entire region after because Tamuz rocks.

Loresong:
As you sing, an image forms in your mind...
You are high in the skies, looking down on the peaks of the Dragonspine Mountains, though they are not quite as they should be. Certain features are out of place as you realize these must be the Dragonspines of the distant past.

A grandfather storm is brewing in the skies around you as brilliant bolts of blue-white lightning strike through the air, lancing down to assault the rocky surface of the Dragonspines below you. Amid the raging storm, a singular column of azure light and lightning emits an eerie blue glow, casting the entire scene in a ghostly cobalt luminescence. Tens of thousands of lesser elementals storm toward what could only be the form of Veiki, Great Elemental of Lightning.

As you continue your song, the dark veil iron hammer begins to rumble in your hands, emitting a thunderous bellow...
Lightning crashes all around you as shards of stone and rock fly from the surface of the mountain below you. With a titanic rumbling and creaking of stone, a face begins to appear in the stony surface below you. The gravelly visage slowly opens its eyes and stares up into the skies, its granite gaze passing over you.

With painful lassitude, giant arms raise themselves from the side of the Dragonspine Mountains and slowly begin to swat at the assembled lightning elementals. Speed is on their side, but not every nimble elemental can escape the inevitable momentum of the giant stony fists as some are smashed onto the sides of the Dragonspines. The slow rage of Ghatha takes its toll on Veiki's assembled forces.

Your vision suddenly turns as you see an impossibly huge hand of stone moving toward you. It is too late to avoid it as you brace for the impact...

The surrounding air feels as though it is thickening, the sudden stillness only interrupted by a faint rumble echoing from the distance.

As you continue your song, the image slowly and lethargically comes to your mind...
Trapped! You are completely and utterly trapped. You can not move. You are bound in granite. All around you other lightning elementals suffer the same cruel fate. Straining mightily you still can not travel through the surrounding strata. Shaking with the impotent rage of a caged rat does not change your prison. Looking up you see the form of Veiki begin to dissipate as the stony arms that brought you down to an earthen embrace slowly lose their animating force and crumble back toward the Dragonspine Mountains once again.

Time passes with painful fatigue as the walls of your jail are strengthened. Thousands of earth elementals slowly reinforce the walls, binding your form with veins of metal from deep within the mountains as they craft a perfect prison. You begin to lose contact with the other elementals who are likewise imprisoned near you as their metal cages are completed with painstakingly protracted precision.

As voluminous grey and black-colored clouds begin to engulf the once-clear sky, the swiftly forming storm blows in as if guided by unseen hands. Thunder rumbles in the distance and the scent of ozone fills the air.

As your song continues, the field of your vision narrows to encompass a single, aged giantman...
The elderly giant walks a narrow, winding path up the peaks of the Dragonspine Mountains, slowly making his way toward a summit. Near the top, he removes a satchel of tools and begins to take measurements with an assortment of mundane and arcane instruments. Satisfied with his findings he produces a pickaxe from his pack and slowly chips away chunks of peculiar metal-veined stone from the side of the mountain. Each swing of his pickaxe releases tiny slivers of lightning from the stony surface.

The vision falters but refocuses again on the aged giantman, this time in a smithy...
You watch in moments a process that must have taken days to complete as the elderly smith refines the material he harvested from the sight of the Elemental War. Each step is accompanied by elemental discharges, which the smith carefully mitigates or wards against during the process. Bit by bit, workable metal is produced, which the smith eventally begins to form into a rune-carved dark veil iron hammer. With a slow and steady hand, Saramar runes are inscribed on the hammer as arcane phrases are chanted, culminating with the smith raising the dark veil iron hammer overhead. A small bolt of lightning leaps from the dark veil iron hammer, eager to be free of its confines at long last!

Strong gusts of wind whip about the area, the howling drowned out only by the guttural sounds of thunder. The incoming darkness is pierced by bolts of bright lightning, the sky opening to release a torrent of rain.

All in all- very happy with it. More so than I thought I would be originally.

an ebon-hilted razern longsword

4x, MCW, +15 Edged Weapon Ranks, +15 Physical Fitness Bonus, almost an innumerable amount of charges, fully unlocked Siolan scripts. Nice show -

Like a sliver shorn from a midnight sky, the blade of the razern longsword is an uncompromising black, save for a single streak of deep blue that runs from the crossguard and down along the fuller. The guard itself is made of the same material, composed of sharp lines and utilitarian design that dissolve into the contoured figure of the grip, which is sheathed in ebon-hued leather bound in a crosshatching of silver banding. A sphere of riftstone serves as the pommel, trapped in a cage of twisting razern. You see nothing unusual, except for a small enchanter's glyph.

empath tattoo, holds herbs weightlessly for you and uses them to heal you as needed, still exploring limits to the herb usage and healing info. 20 doses of each herb and seems to heal both scars and wounds, tattoo gets the RT apparently not you

The dwarf empath tattoo slowly trudges up to your shoulders and makes a few circuits around your neck, his eyes trained on your head. He pulls out some aloeas stem from his haversack and glances between it and your head before sadly shaking his own head. With a mournful look, he tucks the remedy away again and walks off.

Had no wounds but apparent evidence of it looking for them, time to go hunting later I guess

Really nice buy there, VHDP 6x armor is nice, and if you're randomly fighting things that maneuever you can just switch to VHCP. Finally answering the DP vs CP decision for plate...just get both :D

Lets you pick up cursed items (rift gems / herbs, black ora, etc.) without getting cursed. Also apparently skin things without harming your hand? (myklians, skaryls). Also a large amount of padding.

does it fire off while you are incapacitated passively or do you need to direct it? Can you direct it while incapacitated?

pair of white-feathered wings - The missing "a" is not a typo. When worn, the "a" is added automatically into the description.
When you wear the wings, you agree to the responsibility of becoming Gosaena's mortal avatar. The wings have ambient messaging that fires off every so often. They appear in your features, and change description when FOLDed RAISEd and WAVEd. 2x a day self raising with full chrism effect, no deed loss, no death sting, no recent death marker, and teleported to the nearest decay location completely healed. The self raising has a nod to the old demonic messaging. Has an awesome loresong but it's a puzzle on how to get it, and it does not involve a bard. The loresong does confirm that you're the chosen avatar of Gosaena.

Large gear embossed sack.
Inside are a breastplate, gauntlets, boots, burgonet. Currently 4x. When worn you wind up a mechanism to power the suit. Then when you flip a switch it all locks together becoming plate mail. When assembled it is expertly crit padded. It appears that when it is unassembled there is no padding and is possibly enchantable.(still exploring this) my lvl50 sorc would have to be extremely unlucky to not be able to put a tier 1 ensorcell on it. ..when struck in combat the padding will degrade slightly, but the suit can be put into a repair cycle that takes approximately 15 minutes to complete to remove all damage and restore the padding.. there is also a cool loresong but I'm still working on that as my bard is having troubles getting the last of it.

Rallied my spirits after losing out on the Illistim property - congratulations Alastir, I'm SO jealous - and managed to pick up an ethereal runestaff swirling with electric energy.

Max light 8x runestaff with greater lightning flares and a +10 bonus to both Water and Air lores.

Hoping that it will put a smile on Roh's husband's face, as he's a Charl-aligned mage, and make up for the lack of a new marital home. It should still get me the "Text-Wife of the Year" award though, right?

Also traps a few verbs:

GET ~ As Rohese draws an ethereal runestaff swirling with electric energy, luminescent slivers of electricity slither about its surface.

RUB ~ Rohese's ethereal runestaff is set aglow as crackling ribbons of luminescent blue electricity creep about its surface.

WAVE ~ Rohese waves her ethereal runestaff through the air and its surface is bathed in intertwined tendrils of luminescent blue energy.

WAVE (target) ~ Sighisoara tilts his ethereal runestaff at you, and a crackling wisp of glowing blue energy zips forth and glides around you before dispersing into the air.

RAISE ~ Rohese raises her ethereal runestaff into the air, and suddenly a whirling zephyr of light wreaths around her. The energy builds in intensity like the heart of a thunderstorm until her entire body is cloaked in the blazing aura. Slowly the maelstrom subsides with a barely-audible rumble, but Rohese's eyes appear far more luminous. (temporarily changes your eye colour to "intense deep blue eyes").

Yet to determine the cooldown time on the RAISE verb.

Edited to add: Will add messaging once I see him in action with it!

a misted black-veined emerald ring
7x mist armor with apparently some awesome air flares, though I haven't been able to test yet
Makes "some hazy black mist armor".

>turn my ring
As you twist the top of your emerald ring, it opens and flowers outward. Tendrils of black mist begin to flow out of the ring and swirl around you, and you begin to feel more burdened as the mist envelops your form. Finally, the tendrils cease emanating from the ring and settle down around you. Once quiescent, the tendrils merge together, creating a hazy black mist in the image of some hazy black mist armor around you.
Roundtime: 3 sec.
>turn my ring
As you twist the top of your emerald ring, it flowers open and begins to suck air into the swirling black center that is revealed with a shrill whistling noise. As it continues, the tendrils of mist surrounding you begin to come apart in small wisps and are sucked into the interior of the ring. Once all the tendrils surrounding your form are drawn into the ring's interior, it closes with an audible **SNAP**.
Roundtime: 10 sec.
>flip my ring
As you consider your next move, you absentmindedly spin the emerald ring around your finger.
>attend my ring
Bored, you repeatedly remove your emerald ring and slide it onto a different finger.
>rub my ring
Gazing at your emerald ring, you detect several hazy streaks blemishing its surface. With your thumb, you attempt to rub away the unsightly marks, but they quickly reappear along the ring.
>wave my ring
As you wave your hand through the air, tendrils of black mist stream from your emerald ring and swirl through the air in a dramatic display.

I've set it to full plate, though I need to get 30k more experience so I can level my Warrior to be able to wear it to test the air flares. I was on the lookout for some cool armor for my Warrior, mainly, for this auction and I think I got it. That gem-eater plate looks awesome, though - wishing I hadn't held back to try to bid on something else first or I'd have tried to grab that.

I also got the 5x ice-flaring discus bandolier. I always wanted one of those bandoliers, though now that I have it I'm not even sure what to do with it - I may have to consider a new character to build around it. Either that or re-spec my Sniper Ranger to use Thrown instead of Ranged to play around with it.

A lot of cool stuff, for sure! I held back on a lot of it, as I wanted to be sure I'd use whatever I won.

a smooth golvern target shield

+35 medium shield, can be blessed, but doesn't appear to be ensorcellable. Can be thrown or kicked at enemies.

KICK and THROW seem to do the same thing, with different messaging, and have a shared cooldown. It hits 1 to 3 targets in the room with a flat 3 second RT. Cooldown is 45 seconds plus 15 per target, minus 15 for every 50 ranks of MOC down to a minimum of 45. With 100 ranks of MOC, I hit 45 seconds for 1-2 targets, 60 for 3 targets. The attack seems to use the impact critical table.

Here are some examples (all with 303 shield ranks and 100 ranks MOC):

You toss your golvern target shield up into the air and immediately pivot into a smooth roundhouse kick, your foot connecting solidly with the spinning disk to send it flying!
[SMR result: 191 (Open d100: 81)]
Your shield heads straight for a triton combatant and hits!
... 70 points of damage!
Blow to back removes the spinal column!
The triton combatant collapses, gurgling once with a wrathful look on her face before expiring.

Appearance

a long emerald green ethereal runestaff

Transparent in appearance, yet seemingly solid when handled, the runestaff radiates emerald green light. It has a columnar core that manifests as spiraling currents of air electrified by an unseen source. A constant whisper of wind and the crackling of energy emanates from its heart like a gentle zephyr galvanized by a raging lightning storm, and the distinct scent of ozone cannot be mistaken. Warped fragments of earth and metal glide over the fitful core as if in a vain struggle to contain the force within. You see nothing unusual, except for a small enchanter's glyph.
There appears to be something written on it.

In the Common language, it reads:
Spellstorm

It inspects as being "mainly crafted out of air."

There are 13 verbs that activate zests. There are also infrequent ambient messages. The ambient messages can be Prodded off.

History

It has a special loresong that is visible to everybody in the room. A greatly summarized version is that it was used by an Arkati during the Ur-Daemon war. This Arkati and a Drake fought an Ur-Daemon. They were outmatched by the Ur-Daemon, who killed the Drake and was about to finish off the Arkati, when in an act of desperation and at the cost of his life the Arkati used this runestaff to kill the injured Ur-Daemon. Although the Arkati died, this runestaff survived, baptized in the Ur-Daemon's caustic blood. The loresong also revealed that there is a crystallized Drake heart somewhere in the lands that was discarded by the Ur-Daemon when it killed the Drake.

Bard's eyes grow unfocused as he gazes into the distance, and you feel a vague tickling in the back of your mind. With little warning, a vision unfolds before you...

For as far as the eye could see, the land was scorched beyond recognition. The blackened facade, cracking and scarred, seemed a foreign and broken world. Even the sky was bruised by towering thunderheads tinted in the red-purple shades cast by the lightning born from behind their ominous faces. And the sounds... everywhere were shrieks, inhuman and alien, bestial cries from mouths rimmed in fangs. The creatures were unlike anything he'd seen before, breathtaking in their monstrosity. This Arkati was certain that they were the origin of all nightmares, the darkness from which all things fearsome were made.

Tendrils of viridian energy snake out from the base of Bard's green ethereal runestaff and crawl haltingly across the ground.

Bard's gaze pans upward as the notes of his song trail off, and a sudden spark of alarm flashes in his eyes only seconds before you are overtaken by a wave of apprehension as a vision appears.

Overhead, massive bodies collided with such force that shockwaves rippled through the air, buffeting him like a stiff wind. Tilting his golden eyes upward, the Arkati found the sky alive with movement -- the flapping of leathery wings, the writhing of barbed tentacles. Drakes, their numbers without measure, battled relentlessly with their malefic foes, the Ur-Daemons. Each time one fell from the sky, the ground beneath his feet trembled and shuttered under the impact. All across the landscape, he could see the bodies of his enemies lying in ruin, but he also saw those of his masters. So many had fallen. The lament was silent and brief, broken by a shrill cry from behind that caused him to turn with his staff raised in defense.

Bard takes a hesitant step back as his eyes widen, and you feel a knot of fear grow in the pit of your stomach. Unbidden, a vision arises before your mind's eye.

He had to retreat a step in order to take in the full sight of what confronted him now -- a corpulent, cyclopean creature covered in green-black scaled hide, with matching immense, claw-tipped wings and a sextet of awkwardly long but muscled arms. The Arkati had heard whispers of the beast, lowly, carefully as if mere mention of it were a curse. It was crouched before him, though still so colossal as to consume the entirety of his field of vision. In his ears, he could hear the thrumming of his blood, even above the cacophony of tortured voices raised about him. In that moment, there was nothing else; the rest of the battlefield faded away as his gilded eyes locked on the murky yellow gaze of his opponent. The beast's body heaved with each breath, and a viscous fluid seeped from its maw, sizzling as it hit the ground.

(OOC) Bard's player whispers, "This is a small item, under a pound. You tremble and can barely hold onto the green ethereal runestaff. You estimate it must be worth over a hundred million silvers! You can also tell that the green ethereal runestaff is predominantly crafted of air."

Bard seems to choke on his melody, and sir coughs as if trying to catch his breath. Similarly, your breath catches in your throat as images assault your mind.

The Arkati's breath came in ragged gasps as he crouched on one knee, staff in his left hand, while the right was pressed to the ground for balance. Both sweat and blood ran from his forehead and into his eyes. His vision blurred, the Arkati wiped the back of a gauntleted hand across his brow though it accomplished nothing. Thrown aside in the struggle, his greaves lay sizzling yards away, much of them dissolved by the acidic saliva of the beast. Though the creature itself was short an arm and a half and bore a myriad of wounds, it seemed unphased.

The Ur-Daemon at once lurched forward with frightful speed, roaring with unchecked rage as it charged. The Arkati steeled his courage and rose, surging into the air to meet the approaching danger.

Bard squares his shoulders as he draws himself tall and straight. His eyes glaze with a golden sheen of iridescence. Your own sight is all at once swallowed by gilded light, and a vision plays across the glimmering backdrop.

Against a nightmarescape of ruddy sky and blackened earth, he was like a lance of illumination cutting away at the darkness. In and out of the arms of the beast he wove, narrowly avoiding the Ur-Daemon's clawed grasp while delivering blow after blow. Each spell from his gauntleted hand tore at dark flesh, releasing torrents of black blood over the ground below. After each successful strike, his confidence grew, his blood sang. Emboldened, he took a chance, dared to hope he could land a blow that would end this once and for all: a strike to the center of its body mass. Surely that would enough.

The split second decision was made, and the Arkati set the air ablaze as he hurtled himself at the creature.

As the last strains of his verse fall from his lips, Bard staggers as if struck by a fearsome blow. In the same moment, you feel a heaviness in your chest that turns to crushing pain as a vision is played out before you.

He had been foolish. Anticipating his bold move, the beast left the ground with several beats of its massive wings, twisting its body so that the Arkati's blow was but glancing. A crushing swipe from the creature's arms caught him as he passed, pummeling him into the ground with such force that he felt the stone crack beneath him. The impact rendered his left arm useless, and with each breath, he could feel splinters of his own bones burrowing deeper into the soft tissues of his body. He coughed, and crimson stained his lips.

He had dared too much, given too much to hope, and was now broken by his folly. He could only let the end come, and on frightful leathery wings, it did just that. The creature hovered over its prey, salivating at the prospect of the kill, before it dove for the final strike. He closed his eyes, and he waited... waited for a release that did not come. The shrill scream of a Drake drowned out the sound of his own heartbeat in his ears, and he opened his eyes to see the Ur-Daemon swept away in a blur of gold and purest white.

Bard clutches a hand to his chest, and the words of his song sound strained. Before you can offer a word of comfort, you are gripped by a deep ache in the center of your chest. A vision follows the sensation.

He watched in something like both horror and amazement as the niveous Drake set upon the Ur-Daemon in a fury of rending talons and snapping jaws. His mistress, she had come. The Arkati held a painful breath as he watched the pair rise into the sky, a writhing mass of wings and claws, one distinguishable from the other only because one was so dark and the other so light. He heard the creature wail as limbs were torn from its body, and all about him rained a caustic black shower of blood. In an act of desperation, the creature grappled to get a grip on the Drake and finally found purchase on one of her wings.

The consternation on Bard's face turns to mortification as he gazes into the distance, trembling. Trepidation fills your heart as your sight grows dim and a vision invades your mind.

A shrill, ear-splitting screech split the air as one of the Drake's wings was shorn from her body, and she and the Ur-Daemon, unable to remain aloft, came tumbling down to earth in a roiling disarray.

A great, thunderous reverberation rippled through the ground as their bodies struck, sending a plume of scorched dust into the air around them. As well as he could, the Arkati struggled to draw nearer to his mistress, coughing through the polluted air and supported only by his staff. When he could finally see past the haze of dust, there she lay, her gilded pure white scales strewn with crimson and ebon stains. She struggled to right herself, but the Ur-Daemon's taloned foot clamped down on her neck.

Bard's song dissolves into a scream as he doubles over in pain, and from the corners of his gold-hazed eyes, thin trails of tears begin to flow. You noticed that your own cheeks feel damp as a scene plays out in the theater of your mind.

He could hear himself screaming. He could feel the raw, wordless noise tearing at his throat as he stumbled forward, as if hoping the force of his will alone would propel him. Time slowed to an inching crawl as the Ur-Daemon drew back a razor-taloned fist and plunged it into the Drake's chest. It was long enough for the Arkati's gaze to meet hers, long enough for him to see the light die in eyes.

In that moment, every pain of his flesh paled in comparison to the agony that gripped his soul, and the weight of it bore him to his knees. The Ur-Daemon turned to balefully meet the Arkati's gaze, the Drake's heart still clutched in its grasp. Now free of her chest, the organ became petrified, taking on a crystalline form beneath the blood and viscera. The Ur-Daemon seemed unaware as he tossed the heart carelessly away and advanced on the shattered Arkati.

Bard takes a shuddering breath as he sets his jaw. The golden haze glazing his eyes flares brilliantly as thin threads of energy begin to leak from the gilded orbs. Your sight glazes gold, and a flush rises to your face as you are confronted by vivid apparitions.

Behind his gilded eyes, an untameable fire flared to life, kindled by anguish and fueled by rage. Gripping his staff with both hands, the Arkati laboriously struggled to his feet. There was but a little left of the light within him, just a spark of what once had been, but it would have to be enough. Summoning every ounce of his remaining strength, he drew himself tall, bracing his staff against his forearm as he beckoned the Ur-Daemon forward.

The invitation did not go unanswered as the creature lumbered forward with a halting gait created by weariness and loss of limbs. In kind, he launched himself at the creature, every fiber of muscle and sinew crying out in pain. With few limbs left to bear, the creature swung a clawed hand at the Arkati, inscribing a wide arc through the air. It was just enough for him to dive beneath and come to his knees again. The Ur-Daemon, incensed, roared with fury and reversed course to barrel toward the prone Arkati.

As Bard's song grows near its terminus, his eyes flutter closed, and he exhales a cleansing breath. Like webs etched in broken glass, thin threads of energy begin to crawl along the floor at his feet. As lightning to a rod, the energy coalesces about you, and aberrations flash before your eyes.

Though only the barest of moments had passed, it seemed as an eternity to him. The Arkati had seen in his mind's eye what would be, what would have to happen, the sacrifice to be made. He acquiesced to his fate joyfully as he took a breath and closed his eyes, and around him, the world came rushing back.

The Ur-Daemon was upon him in an instant, and the Arkati wasted no time in rising to greet his foe. Whirling the staff in his hand as he turned, fractured tendrils of energy tore at the air, and as he slammed the heel of the weapon into the ground, a fan of lightning erupted outward. Each vein of raw energy ran toward the creature and leapt from the ground, encircling its wrists and its legs, tethering it in place. The beast roared as it struggled, and here had come the moment to strike.

As the last notes of Bard's song begin to die on his lips, a vision fills your mind, the last scenes little more than flashes of color on a dark landscape.

The Arkati gathered the last vestiges of his power and launched himself into the air. He cradled the staff against his body as his spiraling ascension drew him ever closer to his target, to the Ur-Daemon, and to oblivion. He'd become a lance embodied; his powers married to the energies infusing the staff created of him a living weapon.

With his mistress' name on his lips, he collided with the Ur-Daemon, and as he did, the staff simultaneously flared with an outpouring of emerald green light. The resulting discharge of energy tore through the Ur-Daemon, its short-lived screams buried beneath a thunderous explosion, and it crumpled to the ground like an empty husk, bereft of any substance. Just beyond lay the staff, still clutched in the gauntleted fist of the Arkati, who was ruined beneath the caustic vital fluids of the Ur-Daemon. Most of his armor had been burned away, along with his features, and the last of his labored breaths were wet and tortured.

When at last the Arkati succumbed, a sigh parted his blackened lips, and his fingers unfurled their grip of the staff. It lay deserted, having served its purpose, but beneath its ever-shifting shell, its core incandesced, burning away the acidic blood in which it had been baptized.

Abilities

The enchantment is 5x, and it can be further enchanted. It has three abilities, which were mostly explained by the auctioneer.

It periodically flares when you cast. The flare causes your spell to bypass defensive spells on the target. The flare frequency seems to be about the same as normal elemental flares. This ability works regardless of whether or not you have infused mana or spirit into the runestaff. The benefit of the flare varies based how spelled the target is.

When infused with mana, it (a) lowers cast RT to 2 seconds, and (b) adds a level acuity equal to the enchantment of the runestaff (i.e., at its current 5x enchantment, it adds 5x acuity). Both abilities activate on every cast, including self-cast defensive spells, until the mana is exhausted. It holds a maximum of 50 mana. Each cast uses 2 stored mana, so 25 casts before you need to infuse it again.

When infused with spirit, a third ability can be activated when desired. This third ability (a) causes the spell negating flare (number 1 above) to activate on every cast, and (b) doubles the enchantment of the runestaff. Because the acuity (number 2 above) is tied to the enchantment, activating this ability also doubles the acuity if the runestaff has stored mana. If the runestaff has no mana when the spirit ability is active, then the staff still grants the spell negating flare on every cast but does not impart any acuity or RT reduction. This third ability lasts 6 seconds per infused spirit point and may be used once per hour.
If I get it further enchanted, then the acuity ability will increase to equal the enchant level (6x enchant = 6x acuity with the mana infusion ability or 12x acuity with the spirit ability), and the amount of mana it holds will also increase.

Edit (01/18/2017): I removed the reference to wands and other magic items. It was a bug that it worked with magic items, which is too bad, because I was having a lot of fun with blue and metal wands in the Confluence. However, Estild confirmed that it is supposed to work with scrolls.

Imaera Cloak!

a green velvet cloak draped in gold chiffon
Holds an incredible amount with Imaera-inspired ambient messages about every five minutes, and some of them produce items! These messages also vary the nouns used for leaves, flowers, small creatures, and birds. It's beautiful and feels like it was made for me! It matches my username here (that I made last year), runestaff, and doe tattoo perfectly. Thank you, Haliste!

-an animal-honed slender faewood staff
-Carved into the smooth faewood with polished eonake inlay, various woodland creatures march in a spiral through a scenic forest depicted along the staff. As the animals approach the top, they emerge into a tundra clearing in which a graceful brown doe stands some distance away, her head turned toward her cherished followers. You see nothing unusual, except for a small enchanter's glyph.

-She has an amber-eyed graceful brown doe behind the right ear.
-With an air of wisdom, the brown doe stands tall and proudly as she looks outward, her large ears marbled with white fur and her eyes rich and vibrant as if illuminated by warm sunshine.

This is probably not complete, but I'll list everything I've noticed since yesterday.

LORESONG
A golden light washes over your cloak, leaving it warm to your touch. The patterns it forms are chaotic and unreadable, leaving no clue as to what its purpose might be.

Heavy grunts, fierce howls, and ear-piercing squawks echo wildly in the distance, their cries slowly melding together into a low, soothing hum.

As your song continues, you find yourself overwhelmed and lost in a vision of an endless forest, creatures darting to and fro beneath an enormous green canopy of trees. A single doe emerges from the lush foliage and positions herself directly in front of you, almost as if waiting for your cue. You take a step forward, and as the brush crackles beneath your feet, the image fades.

A sweet, floral fragrance lingers in the air.

AMBIENT

3rd: Neshira is suddenly bathed in a halo of incandescent gold, the opalescent fabric on her green velvet cloak shimmering in the ambient light. Neshira looks rejuvenated and calmly says, "The Lady of the Green watches over us."

I got one of the fire gowns and am so very pleased! Lots of gorgeous zests and ambients to play around with. Now if only it lit certain people on fire randomly..

Normal dress: a high-collared fiery silk gown embroidered with sinuous flames along the skirt
Show of normal dress: The silk of the gown ranges from the richest crimson and scarlet to shades that verge on dark goldenrod and rust, and the detailing along the bodice and neckline are a combination of bronze and copper. Stretching from the high collar to the wrist are slashed sleeves of gossamer that terminate in cuffs accented with firestone beads similar to those found along the neckline. From the hem of the skirt, sinuous flames trace upward in bronze embroidery, their meandering tendrils nearly lost in the deep folds.

On Fire dress: a radiant crimson silk gown consumed by sinuous wisps of golden flame
Show of On Fire dress: Only hints of the crimson silk from which the gown has been tailored can be glimpsed beneath the undulating cloak of golden flames engulfing the garment. Sparks of brilliant gilt race along the embroidery of the bodice as slender fingers of flame rise to embrace the high collar above. Narrow tongues of flame lick at the air from the openings in the slashed sleeves, while long wisps sway within the folds of the skirt, reaching with a burning grasp toward the waistline.

Temporary home that stays up for 24 hours and is janitor-proof.

>anal ham
You analyze your mithril hammer and sense that the item cannot be altered in any way.

The creator has also provided the following information:
This item may not be altered in any way.
Current Verbs:
PULL (clean house) [cleans up like a table]
RAISE (build) - cannot be used inside, in Mist Harbor, or in any rooms or areas where teleportation is normally restricted. This can be used once a week, and will build a temporary home that will remain for 24 hours.
RUB [With a gleam in your eye, you brush your hand across your mithril hammer and draw it to your chest, furtively coveting your esteemed treasure.]
WAVE (teleport) - while the temporary home is active, you can return freely from same-zone locations. In addition, group members can travel with you once every 30 minutes.

You get no sense of whether or not the hammer may be further lightened.

>raise my ham
Like a great stampede, a horde of spectral dwarves carrying various tools and materials swarm around you in a flurry of activity. With lightning speed, they fastidiously erect a small structure. The apparitions turn in unison to face you, bow respectfully, and clean up any unused materials, disappearing into thin air before you can react.

Outside appearance:
a moss-covered thatched stone hut

>l hut
There's a small note nailed to the door of the hut. It reads, "Property of Allereli. Keep out!"

Day:

[A Small Hut]
Muted sunlight trickles in through the thatched roof and dry stone walls, a diffused glow blanketing the hut from front to back. Finely sanded planks of oak are secured to the top of a stone hearth that is brimming with a variety of food and drink. Framed by candle-filled sconces and set between square-cut stones, a steel-bordered window provides a clear view of the outside. You also see a scrawled note and a carved wooden bed with a plush fur blanket on it.
Obvious exits: out

Night:

[A Small Hut]
Pale moonlight trickles in through the thatched roof and dry stone walls, a diffused glow blanketing the hut from front to back. Finely sanded planks of oak are secured to the top of a stone hearth that is brimming with a variety of food and drink. Framed by candle-filled sconces and set between square-cut stones, a steel-bordered window provides a clear view of the outside.

>read note
In the Common language, it reads:
We created this home just for you -- relax in luxury for twenty-four hours, at which time we will return and tear it down, selling any unclaimed items. Only you can enter, but you may bring your friends with you. This temporary home will protect you, and you will be able to return as needed. If you travel with others, your return ability will be limited to once every 30 minutes. When the structure is destroyed, any adventurers inside will be left vulnerable to the area's elements and creatures.

>l hear
A detailed map of Kharam Dzu is chiseled onto the front of the hearth. (guessing it changes with whatever area it's in)

On the stone hearth:
other (7): a short wooden barrel, a basket of fried green beans, a tall carafe, a tray of banana pudding cupcakes, a crystalline decanter, some lobster-stuffed mushrooms, some cubes of bacon-wrapped pineapple.

You pour yourself a frosty mug of ginger-laced beer. (barrel)
You pour yourself a cup of amaretto coffee. (carafe)
You pour yourself a glass of sparkling white wine. (decanter)

Pulling the hammer inside the hut cleans it up like at a table.

>pull ham
Noticing a stray thread at the base of your mithril hammer, you grasp the string between your thumb and forefinger and give it a good yank. It stretches out and then retracts to its original position.

Out of nowhere a young dwarven apparition materializes, removes a broom and dustpan from his apron, and proceeds to clean up the area, sweeping away any notable dust and dirt. Just before vanishing, the spectral being retrieves a bottle of cologne from a concealed compartment along the wall and sprays it into the air.

Ambient messaging after cleaning:

A light breeze fills the air with a soothing bouquet of strawberry pie.

Loresong:

3p: Vaulen sings something in Guildspeak that you don't understand.
As Vaulen sings, a light scent of fresh wildflowers drifts through the air.

1p:As your song's first words spill over your lips, an image of a flourishing meadow fills your mind. A young dwarven couple surrounded by celebrating villagers stands center field. The couple, gleaming with pride, cradles an infant swaddled in grey wool blankets. Hundreds of roltons pack the lush meadow and seemingly rejoice alongside the villagers with familiar snorts and grunts.

3p:Vaulen sings something in Guildspeak that you don't understand.
A look of consternation crosses Vaulen's face, and his song transforms from a lively melody to one more fitting of an elegy.

1p:Your song continues, though you are filled with an overwhelming feeling of desperation and frustration. A vision of the blossoming field returns with focus on a lone tree and a young male dwarf resting beneath it. A leather-bound book is propped up on his knees, and a small mithril hammer lays by his side. Off in the distance, an elderly dwarf shakes a knotted crook toward the distracted youngster, but his call for help goes unnoticed. The dwarf beneath the tree distractedly flips through the pages of his brown leather journal. You can barely make out the word "Wizardry" on the journal's cover. A group of rolton disappears through the open gate at the far end of the field.

3p:Vaulen sings something in Guildspeak that you don't understand.
Vaulen's eyes grow wide and appear to fill with tears as he continues his serenade, though his voice sounds tense and strained.

1p:You struggle to remember the words of your song and are nearly overcome with frustration and sadness. The same field of blossoms returns to your mind, though it lacks health and vibrance. A middle-aged dwarven couple stands side-by-side, matching invar-linked rings on their fingers. The man hangs his head as the woman shakes a stern finger in his direction, and you hear her say, "I can no longer do this, Zintok!" She points to an open gate at the far end of the field as the last rolton escapes. Tightening his grip on a brown leather journal, Zintok opens the book to an earmarked page and begins to read. The forlorn woman wipes a tear from her cheek and walks away.

3p:Vaulen sings something in Guildspeak that you don't understand.
A loud *THUD* brings Vaulen's song to a close.

1p:The hammer shakes violently in your hand as you attempt the last verse of your song. Visible for only a moment, the image of the field washes away and is replaced by a small hut. An elderly dwarf rests upon a carved wooden bed as he shifts his gaze between the last page of his journal and a mithril hammer which he clutches tightly. As his wide-eyed gaze shifts from the last page, he raises his hammer high into the air. The elder takes a deep breath and opens his mouth to speak, but the recitation is cut short as an eerie silence fills your mind. The hammer falls from his clutch to the floor with a *THUD* and begins to shimmer briefly.

a black-stained red fireleaf runestaff capped by a clawed <color> urnon hand

Rotates through flares like other chaos weapons. Not sure what the replacement is for 'crit weighting' since it is a runestaff.

You analyze your red fireleaf runestaff and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions.

The creator has also provided the following information:

The red fireleaf runestaff has been treated with chaotic urnon and will shift properties when used in combat. CLUTCHing the runestaff will allow you to attempt to assert your will against the urnon to freeze the properties temporarily. PUSH and PULL will cycle between a clawed hand and a sphere.

The red fireleaf runestaff may be altered with a long and a show, but there may be restrictions based on the shifting nature of the item. It cannot be enchanted, not all merchants will be willing to work on it.

You might be able to have a talented merchant lighten the red fireleaf runestaff for you.

CLUTCH (failed attempt?) - You wrap your hands around the grip of your red fireleaf runestaff and gird your will against the presence emanating from the urnon clawed hand. However, you still feel drained from your last attempt, and cede almost instantly.
CLUTCH (failed attempt?) - You wrap your hands around the grip of your red fireleaf runestaff and gird your will against the presence emanating from the urnon cap. A darkness creeps into your vision, and you cede before you black out.
CLUTCH (success) - You wrap your hands around the grip of your red fireleaf runestaff and gird your will against the presence emanating from the urnon cap. You feel the obstinance of the urnon defer to your determination.

black - Acuity

The staff also flares on eating herbs

You take a bite of your lichen tart.
YUCK! That stuff tastes horrible!
The clawed urnon hand capping your runestaff changes in color from grey to red!
Your twitching subsides.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

Loresong:
<Bard> sings something in Guildspeak that you don't understand.
The red fireleaf runestaff seems to respond to the magic of <Bard> 's song.
<Bard> continues his melody, the blackened wisps reappearing across his wrists, wending their way through his palms and fingertips before dispersing. he swings his head back and forth, eyes glazed before blinking hard, his countenance returning to normal.

The red fireleaf runestaff seems to respond to the magic of <Bard>'s song.
<Bard> faces the a black-stained red fireleaf runestaff capped by a clawed golden urnon hand and focuses his towards the urnon adornment. Suddenly the pure black wisps reappear across his neck, striking quickly to fill his eyes with a darkened red glow, his mouth turned up in a tight snarl. <Bard> growls loudly, sweat dripping down across his forehead, releasing one last howl as his eyes return to normal.
>
<Bard> sings something in Guildspeak that you don't understand.
The red fireleaf runestaff seems to respond to the magic of <Bard>'s song.
his eagerly focuses his voice upon a black-stained red fireleaf runestaff capped by a clawed golden urnon hand, his hands grasping hungrily along its surface.
Faint black wisps swirl and pulsate beneath the surface of his skin, but fade quickly back into nothingness.
That was the last of it.
>
As you open your eyes, a slight feeling of panic overtakes your senses. Darkness overwhelms your being, enveloping the surroundings, the silence deafening. You reach out to grasp at nothing as your arms flail into open space. You stretch, sensing limitless boundaries, the open space incomprehensible. The feelings of fear and wonderment threaten to destroy your very being before the vision fades away, returning you to your original surroundings.

Your song spins wildly across your red fireleaf runestaff as ribbons of reality begin to rip apart the scene before you, bringing you back into the void. The fear that had once permeated the space has become one of determination as you attempt to rein in the chaos unfolding around you. Hours? Days? Years? You are unsure of the lapse of time and before the madness conquers your mind, you begin to feel. You feel crystalline edges that quickly morph into smooth curves, then coils and spikes. The rush of discovery floods your body as the ribbons of time reform, and you are once again where you began.

As your voice slashes through a black-stained red fireleaf runestaff capped by a clawed golden urnon hand, you are suddenly thrust upon a scene of battle, the sounds of swords and shields clashing together the stark opposite of your once silent surroundings. You feel your force unleashed upon waves of invaders, the pure chaos overwhelming, yet it feels as though your hunger is insatiable. Your spikes stab through armor, your spherical body colliding into flesh and bone, collision after collision overlapping until you are yanked back into reality, your breathing heavy as sweat pools across your collarbone.

Your quiet melody caresses a black-stained red fireleaf runestaff capped by a clawed golden urnon hand, and you are transported back into the darkened silence. Absent is the feeling of loneliness, the solitude replaced by an unending yearning. The taste of freshly spilled blood dances across your tongue and you are overcome by gratitude, as you have finally found a purpose. Your being stretches out once again across everything and nothing and your laughter absorbs into the darkness. And you wait for sweet release once again.

I snagged one of the dwarf empath tattoos.

Basically you can put all the herbs in your tattoo:
You squint critically down at the dwarf empath tattoo.
The dwarf empath tattoo obligingly holds out his haversack for you to peer within.
You see some doses of acantha leaf, quite a few doses of ambrominas leaf, plenty of doses of wolifrew lichen, plenty of doses of rose-marrow potion, some doses of basal moss, plenty of doses of ephlox moss, some doses of bolmara potion, plenty of doses of aloeas stem, plenty of doses of pothinir grass, quite a few doses of cactacae spine, plenty of doses of torban leaf, plenty of doses of haphip root, plenty of doses of talneo potion, plenty of doses of calamia fruit, a few doses of woth flower, plenty of doses of brostheras potion, some doses of wingstem potion, a few doses of bur-clover potion, and plenty of doses of sovyn cloves.

...and he will administer them as needed without RT (for you). This includes scars. I'm fairly certain the RT is still there, but on HIS end instead of yours so I'm curious if that's affected by first aid ranks. All-in-all, this is a really neat item and, while expensive, worth it in the long run.

I saw this thing on the auction list, however many millions and offer you my deepest condolences.

The father turns, slowly standing up to face the boy, then immediately lurches forward, father and son embracing as the vision fades in a flurry of silvered snowflakes.

pair of white-feathered wings - The missing "a" is not a typo.

Also when touched:

Deepest apologies for not being a monk. ;) That said, my UAC fetish with other professions is very satisfied with these.

as long as you're actually punching and kicking with them. I thought they were going to go the SK Zealot gloves route and be bought by someone that just wanted them for the hard to fill enhancive slots :D

They're cool and all but....the UAC offerings (you know...both of them) just felt so uninspired. The boots were neat, i almost pulled the trigger there, but these...i dunno. Just seems like they threw a dart at a board that had the weighting/bane options on it then tacked on enhancives. Doesn't seem like a cohesive design. I know UAC, even with the ambushing classes and random flare-happy paladins, is comparatively underutilized but considering this was the first auction since its release I'm really disappointed no one made some cool signature items for it. Or even bothered to release some sets of midrange auction things for it. We can et 18 gemeating staves and the armor-cycle but no glove/boot combos? :|

All the highest end UAC stuff get annexed by people who want the enhancives now as is. I don't have the pockets deep enough to even get them if they make some but damn guys, throw us a bone. Do some cool top tier things to drool over that actually require you to UAC.

as long as you're actually punching and kicking with them.

Definitely. :D Purchased by my UAC empath, will be used by my UAC bard, and I've got a UAC rogue as well. These are not going to become dusty or turn into someone's token enhancive gloves/boots.

I, too, was hoping for more UAC love. I'm thrilled that the greater elemental flares can go on UAC gear, but I'd really like to see some more variety. Perhaps with time -- runestaff users were stuck with pretty boring sticks for quite a while after those became a reality, too.

As for this particular set of boosts - I'd be curious to know the reasoning on the choices, and I -personally- would have put the offensive bane on the gloves rather than the boots, but hey. I've never had a bane anything, and my bard gets beat to shit by bandits while his TWC warrior hunting partner walks away with out a scratch, so that bandit defense made my eyes light up a bit.

You analyze your ethereal bracer and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions.

The creator has also provided the following information:
***************************Ethereal Bracers ************************************
Your ethereal bracer holds the power of ethereal energy.
The ethereal bracer cannot be changed or altered unless you find an incredibly rare merchant who understands ethereal energy.
You can POINT the bracer at a creature to blast it with said energy.
You can RAISE the bracer to hit more than one creature at once.
If you get tired of the bracer's random pulsing light, PROD it.
The bracer will recharge 1 shot per 10 minutes and hold up to 6 shots.
If you LOOK at the bracer you can see how many charges are left.
The bracer will give you a fluffy response to: TOUCH.
************************************************** ******************************

You get no sense of whether or not the bracer may be further lightened.

Surprised you didn't go for one of the sets of the talons, C.

Snow-covered cottage amulet

It seems to regen 1 stamina/mana/health per 1 minute and 1 spirit per 10 minutes. The effect lasts for 2 hours and is usable 1x per day. The auctioneer mentioned an earthnode effect, but unfortunately I think that was an inaccurate description of the item. I've asked on the officials if there's something I'm not seeing about it.

It also has some neat looking verb traps.

gem-encrusted chain hauberk

This seems to be a bit more useful than they were described by the auctioneer. It also seems to generate padding and not just resists. Resistance amounts were random between 40 to 60, however they also said it depended on the gem (maybe quality/price?). The Plat auctioneer intimated that non-functional gems would be destroyed when you tried to insert them.

However, it also looks like you can not pad these items (according to Plat auctioneer). I would also guess we can't add flares to them either. Probably because the gem-generated padding takes up the primary slot and the script slot when a padding type gem is inserted.

Can't be enchanted or ensorcelled by normal means (according to Prime auctioneer). Seems you can have them premium point enchanted though.

Can also add ranger and warrior resists, though I doubt they would stack with like gem-generated resists (no ranger on these since they're hauberk, of course).

The loresong seems to indicate that there is a set for every AsG, so perhaps more will be released:

Archales whispers, "Smoke slowly wafts skyward from the forge as a burly, grey-haired mastersmith carefully places the gem-encrusted hauberk on a golden anvil and starts to inset the last gem onto the chest piece of the hauberk. Kneeling in a circle around the mastersmith, nine brown robed monks chant continuously in prayer. The mastersmith slowly lifts his head and gives a slight smile as he gazes upon the gem encrusted armor. A young acolyte carrying a brown velvet pillow runs up to the smith and kneels before him. Reaching over to the pillow the burly man takes hold of a gem and holds it skyward. The chanting grows in strength as he takes hold of the armor and presses the gem into its chest piece. The vision slowly starts to fade...'."

Archales whispers, "The same grey-haired mastersmith stands back to admire a gem-encrusted hauberk. As he wipes a bead of sweat from his brow he glances around the chamber. You see 18 alcoves are set around the chamber they each hold a mannequin, each with a different class of armor in varying degrees of completion. Some look finished and ready for battle, while others clearly need more work. A brown robed monk looks towards the gem-encrusted hauberk, then glances up at the mastersmith. The burly mastersmith grins and motions towards the alcoves. The monk tenderly gathers up the hauberk and tenderly carries it like a newborn babe towards the only alcove with an empty mannequin. As the grey-haired mastersmith attends to his forge and inspects his tools a brown robed monk gathers up another set of armor from one of the mannequins that is not yet completed and brings it towards the burly, grey-haired mastersmith. The vision slowly starts to fade..."

On the snow cottage amulet - Isn't 1 stamina/mana/health per minute very slow other than maybe for the health? It seemed overly slow which is why I didn't bid, something scaling with the character's statistics would have made more sense.

I couldn't find this posted elsewhere, so if anyone was wondering about the gem-eater staves, most of the accepted gems conform to the ones listed here: https://gswiki.play.net/Gem-eating_weapons_(saved_post)
The exception being that the entries for Bless, Damage Weighting, Crit Weighting, and Acid don't apply to the runestaves. At all - not even with different functions. I tried, and it says they simply don't fit into the slot.

The default red dreamstone the staves came with provides the +3 mana flares, and I found that glimaerstones provide Acuity. But they only seem to give 1x Acuity, not the 6x advertised, so I've BUGITEMed this. (I'm GUESSING it's not just mine? All of the ones auctioned were identical in appearance.)

They were also advertised to have vacuum flares, but I haven't yet found the gem type that provides this. Would appreciate any information on what gem type(s) work with this flare type.

Edit: Oh, another note - since the Saved Post referenced above is from prior to the EN trail opening, I'm going to be testing various EN-only gems. So far, I can confirm that feystones don't work at all, glimaerstones are Acuity as I mentioned, and pale blue/pale green/silvery moonstones are Lightning.

Yeah, it was the earthnode part that got me to bid heh. I thought it was an earthnode for 2 hours and the 1 point regen was either extra during that time or on all the time. Oh well, live and learn! :)

The gem-eater runestaves have an error on them. They should be +3 mana and 6x acuity. The 6x is accidentally a 6 and not a 30. Assist in game, ask for a referral, and it will get fixed. I'll put a post on the officials too. If you're around right now, you can REPORT in game and I'll fix it.

What's the enchant range on them? Old style chaos flares like 75% of the time, but the enchant ranges from -50 to +50. So you need that flare rate. (I adore then, regardless of the enchant range)

Peppwyn
12-19-2016, 02:02 PM
I would say the flares are probably standard, though they personally feel less. I was hoping for something that felt auction quality, but this feels pretty meh and something that you should be able to buy off the shelf. I've had one successful 'clutch' to keep it at acuity, but at a -8 influence I dont think I am going to be very successful. Enchant is supposed to range too, but being a runestaff I'm not even sure why that matters so much as I'm certainly not hitting things with it and typically things aren't hanging around long enough they can swing on me as it cycles.

Donquix
12-19-2016, 02:14 PM
it would change your DS since RS enchant adds directly.

I dunno if the gem-eater / chaos runestaff flare raates and strength were changed as a concession of some kind for runestaves? Physical swings you're locked in to ~5 second hard RT (especially post haste nerf), so i dunno. Seems kind of meh by comparison to what I think a lot of people were expecting for those scripts.

loresong on the nuts and bolts (ironman armor)

Archales whispers, "An aura of magic is evident in the breastplate's vultite, as one would expect. However, you can feel your song as it penetrates and winds through the the breastplate's sophisticated gnomish mechanisms. Clearly they have been ingeniously layered between the plates of the armor's bronzed vultite exterior and its padded leather lining, and embody a mechanical melody that is all their own."

Archales whispers, "Three figures converse over a tattered vellum covering the workbench in a planisher's forge. Flanked by a grey-haired dwarf and an aged gnome, the elf in the center traces a finger along one of the more faded lines of the central diagram. Although all three appear to be exchanging terse comments, their expressions and nodding heads indicate agreement. As if to underscore her final comment, the dwarf stabs emphatically at the Giantkin runes prominently labeling the top center of technical drawing."
>
>
Archales whispers, "Another view of the same workbench reveals the identical trio, each seated on a different height stool at the bench's edge. The dwarf is focused on grinding and shaping small plates of vultite while the gnome cuts teeth into the edge of a thumbnail-sized sprocket in a vise. Bending over another vise, the elf is polishing variously sized plates which are set into a common surface of hard, red wax."
>
>
Archales whispers, "Standing closely together, the trio of armorers appear to be congratulating each other. As the perspective shifts, it becomes clear that the dwarf is now the object of their joint attention and that she is wearing a rigid set of bronzed platemail formed of interlocked plates. Stepping over in front of a large mirror, she holds up the vellum plans and compares her image to the faded drawings of a white-haired female Giantkin wearing a set of jet black, articulated platemail. All three point out obvious differences in the armor, but seem immensely pleased nonetheless."
>
>
Archales leans over and whispers, "Overlaid images of the three armorers and the ancient vellum design diagrams fill your mind, but you learn nothing further."

It's one of the Tally weapons, each killing blow you do gets a tally mark put on the weapon (tally marks can be earned partially based on critter level vs your level). The kills have to be from critters you can learn from to get a tally mark.

Each tally mark provides +1 to AS, every 3rd tally mark increases the damage weighting by 1. At the maximum of 100 tally marks the weapon has +100 AS and 33 points of damage weighting.

You can CLENCH it to use up 50 tally marks and cast Tremors.
You can also RAISE it to use up 50 tally marks and cast Adrenal Surge.

There are 3 ways it can add tally marks, using your fingernail, a sharp rock, and a knife.

Fetching a sharp knife, you notch another mark of victory into the haft of your hatchet.

I really do appreciate all the hard work the GMs put into this event. Perhaps my expectations were too high when I think 'God auction quality item'

I think the best way I can think of to explain this is how I usually explain it to new people who play Magic the Gathering at my LGS, which is: They print 'bad' rares, so you can know what good rares look like. It's a function of teaching the player to understand, acknowledge, and appreciate the difference in a more or less mechanically flexible thing. With all that being said, I always tell them that no card is useless, and context is everything. What might seem like a 'bad' rare (or god auction quality item) to one might seem not only reasonable, but fantastic to another given the right context.

In the case of Gemstone, context is even more variable, because it's a function not just of the current wielder of the item, but also the designer, and the valuation of the general public at large. In Magic, the card never changes, and the rules don't change, only the environment the card can be used in. In this way, I've always found Gemstone is even more ephemeral in context and 'rares'.

Flare rate is definitely higher, plenty of crits and upper ranges. The clutch/locking feature seems to be a coin-toss, lasting 5 minutes when successful, and leaving you unable to attempt to impose your will on it again until 5 minutes have passed. Pretty neat.

There's one verb push or pull, I forget, that needs an 'a' thrown in 'dissiptes'

You don't want that range adjusted. I know the +50 of the old chaos weapons seems enticing, but the -50 is a big hurdle. I'd say they hit the spot just right with the new version.

If that +100 AS and +33 points of damage weighting is permanent so long as you don't use the special moves, that's incredibly over powered in my opinion.

Not really. Other people have mentioned reasons why not, but let me add one:

It starts at 0 enchant. You have to make 50 kills just to get it to a 10x weapon, which we all pretty much agree isn't OP. Most people don't do 50 kills in a single hunt. I'm sure it's loads of fun to use berserking, or during an invasion where you end up out there for hours swinging the whole time, but it has some very good limiting factors that keep it from becoming incredibly over powered.

This didn't start at a base of 4x?

what if you alternate hunting with a tag team? hunt one, stack up marks, rest 2 minutes, pass off to other, hunt to fried rest 2 minutes, pass back to first...op!

I vaugely remember parsing a bunch of logs from khariz berserking with the chaos maul and the average enchant was right around 20, across hundreds of strikes. So yeah, it does suck a LOT when it went -50, but it seemed like the "chaos" was weighted a bit to prefer the higher end. I might not be remembering that correctly, been a while.

The new Gosaena wings (named DecayWings by Mazreth) got updated last night!

The updated analyze:

The creator has also provided the following information:
These wings were created for the God Auction 2016 by GM Mazreth, please direct any questions to him. They represent the favor of Gosaena's chosen avatar on Elanthia and thus can only be worn by one of her followers. Should the wearer ever convert to another deity (or none), or remove them, the wings will be deleted and lost forever with no chance of replacement. They can NEVER be altered in any way.

The wings allow you to PRAY MY WINGS 2x/24 hour period and be resurrected by the goddess with no penalties and full 100% chrism effects. They also trap the following verbs:

WEAR, REMOVE, FLAP, FOLD, JUMP, PRAY, PUSH, RAISE, RUB, TOUCH, TWIST, and WAVE.

You get no sense of whether or not the wings may be further lightened.

They now show up in a special area of your features instead of overwriting your distinguishing mark field.

RAISE: You raise your white-feathered wings overhead, extending them to their full reach in a silent display of Gosaena's divine favor.
Issalya raises her white-feathered wings overhead, extending them to their full reach.
She has a pair of white-feathered wings protruding from her back and raised threateningly above her head.

PUSH: You push your shoulders back, extending your wings outward to their full reach.
Issalya throws her shoulders back, extending her wings to their full reach.
She has a pair of white-feathered wings protruding from her back and extended to their full reach.

FOLD: You fold your white-feathered wings close to your body, enveloping yourself in the protective presence of your goddess.
Issalya folds her white-feathered wings close to her body.
She has a pair of white-feathered wings protruding from her back and wrapped protectively around her.

WAVE: You flex your muscles, rolling your shoulders and sending a gentle ripple through your white-feathered wings. Feathers ruffling slightly, your wings settle back into a comfortable position.
Issalya rolls her shoulders, her white-feathered wings rippling with the motion before settling down into a relaxed state.
She has a pair of white-feathered wings protruding from her back.

The rest of the verbs:

WEAR (when already worn) You're already wearing the wings... perhaps Gosaena should have chosen someone smarter to be her avatar.
No 3rd person messaging.

FLAP: You flap your white-feathered wings, lifting yourself several feet in the air before you settle unsteadily back to the ground.
Issalya flaps her white-feathered wings gently, lifting herself several feet in the air before she settles unsteadily back to the ground.

JUMP:: You leap high into the air and spread your wings to their fullest, gliding smoothly on a random current for a few moments before gently landing once more.
Issalya leaps high into the air and spreads her wings to their fullest, gliding smoothly on a random current for a few moments before gently landing.

RUB (activating ambients): You run your hand lightly over the edge of your white-feathered wings, silently praising your patron. You feel her presence as the wings fill with life.
Issalya runs her hand lightly over the edge of her white-feathered wings and closes her eyes in concentration. The wings ruffle in response to Issalya's touch.

RUB (deactivating ambients: You run your hand lightly over the edge of your white-feathered wings, silently requesting your patron's presence. You feel your wings fall silent in response to your prayer.
Issalya runs her and lightly over the edge of her white-feathered wings and closes her eyes in concentration. The wings fall silent in response to Issalya's touch.

TOUCH (changes description of wings in features): Issalya traces her finger along the veins of one of her white feathers. It pulses with a (silver/green/white) light in response to her touch.
Issalya traces her finger along the veins of one of her white feathers. It pulses with a silver light in response to her touch.

TWIST (neat ability upon death that we haven't tested yet): You decide to let your death location be known to all. (DEACTIVATING)
You twirl your finger through the soft feathers of your white-feathered wings and feel like the world will know your patron when you die. (ACTIVATING)
No 3rd person messaging.

Ambients found so far, will update as I find more:

A misty nimbus appears surrounding you, making the world around you shine like like silver.
A faint silver nimbus appears surrounding Issalya for a few moments before silently winking out.

With a violent flap of your white-feathered wings, you launch yourself high into the air. Spreading your wings, you soar effortlessly for a few moments, enjoying the view of the surrounding lands before pulling your white-feathered wings tight against your body and diving for the ground. With a final flap, you land gently and settle your white-feathered wings behind you.

Spreading her wings, she soars effortlessly for a few moments before pulling her wings tight against her body and diving for the ground. With a final flap, Issalya lands gently and settles her white-feathered wings behind her.

A single feather slips from your white-feathered wings and floats gently on an unfelt breeze, dissipating into a fine silver mist just before reaching the ground.

A cool silvery mist bursts from your white-feathered wings and settles on the ground before dissipating.
A fine silvery mist bursts from Issalya's white-feathered wings and settles on the ground before dissipating.

You gently flap your white-feathered wings, causing a light breeze throughout the area.

The "loresong" (no bard needed) is as follows:

1st verse: Haze clouds your sight as a vision unfolds before your eyes. You kneel before a simple shrine, muttering prayers piously beneath your breath. Silence blankets the area, enhancing the solitude of the shrine and reminding you of the finality of death.

2nd verse: Finishing your prayers and raising your eyes, a beautiful woman with pale skin, long silver hair, and ice blue eyes wearing grey robes and a large grey cloak that covers brilliant white-feathered wings stands before you. Her gaze falls upon you, and though indifferent, you sense satisfaction in it.

3rd verse: Without a word, she plucks a single white feather from her wings and waves her hand over it in a simple gesture. You blink, trying to clear your eyes, as one feather becomes two in her hand, then two becomes three, until a complete pair of white-feathered wings rests in her outstretched hand.

4th verse: Hesitantly, you reach forward toward the outstretched hand of the goddess. With a nearly imperceptible nod of her head, you reverently take the wings from her. At their touch, images explode in your mind. You hear a voice in your ear whisper the words "chosen" and "avatar", you see yourself standing upright with white-feathered wings sprouting from your back, and you see the souls of all those who could not choose. You crumple to the ground, overcome with awe and respect. When you recover your senses the woman is gone, leaving you with a renewed sense of purpose.

The Luukosian NecroStaff

a knotty witchwood staff

>get staff
As you reach for a knotty witchwood staff, an image of a massive green serpant flashes through your mind. You feel an immense power begin to send your mind racing into momentary darkness.
Reaching over your shoulder, you draw your witchwood staff from a series of straps on the back of your Faendryl war harness.

>l staff
Gnarled and blackened, the staff's initial appearance is nothing more than a twisting branch of a witchwood tree. A forked branch atop the staff sits unadorned, bearing resemblance to a serpent tongue. You see nothing unusual, except for a small enchanter's glyph. A bright green essence lingers in the air surrounding your staff, emanating a loud hiss and obscuring any details of its surface.

>clench staff
You tighten the grip on your witchwood staff, causing the sickly light around your staff to fade. A pale mist disperses from around your body, coiling down your arm and back into the wood of the staff.

>clench staff
You tighten the grip on your witchwood staff, causing it to pulse a sickly green light. A pale mist emerges from the wood, coiling up your arm and clinging tightly to your body.

>prod staff
The green mist surrounding your witchwood staff becomes less active.

>prod staff
The green mist surrounding your witchwood staff becomes more active.

>anal my staff
You analyze your witchwood staff and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions, but the creator has stated that "The item type should not change."

The creator has also provided the following information:

This runestaff is infused with the power of Luukos, influencing the dead to assist the wielder assuming they are skilled enough to do so. Necromancy training and worship of the Lord Luukos will increase the potency of the staff. Those not well enough trained in the art of the dead, or those who worship the swine Voln or Lorminstra will find the staff painful, if not deadly to hold. The inherant powers of the staff can be subdued by CLENCHing the staff, and reactivated by the same action. The staff can also perform the following additional actions:

--- Mechanical ---
Clench - Toggle the passive powers and messaging on or off.
Point at Target - Direct all the eligible dead to attack the target creature. 1 Hour Cooldown.
Push - Consume a corpse in the room, empowering the staff's abilities for a short time. 1 Hour Cooldown.
Prod - Turn off ambient creature messaging.

You sense that the staff can be altered, bearing in mind it must remain dark and dedicated to Luukos.

Regular Flares (apparently I have enough necro lore (2x) + being a Luukos follower to where this flares almost every time. In fact, I don't think I've ever NOT seen this happen after killing something)

Immediately after killing something...
Necrotic haze lingering around you drifts down to your feet, collecting into the shape of an ethereal serpent. It slithers towards the corpse of a Grimswarm giant destroyer, surrounding it with noxious obscurity.

... if that happens and something else is alive in the room it either damages, stuns, knocks it to the ground, or immobilizes it...

The eyes of a Grimswarm orc fighter corpse flare green as the body rises to an twisted standing position. With unnatural speed, the corpse lunges at a Grimswarm orc acolyte, clawing and biting at any flesh it can find as it slides to the ground.
... 25 points of damage!
Quick slash to the orc acolyte's upper right arm!
or
The eyes of a triton combatant corpse flare green as the body rises to an twisted standing position. With unnatural speed, the corpse lunges at a triton magus, causing his eyes to glaze over.
or
The eyes of a triton combatant corpse flare green as the body rises to an twisted standing position. With unnatural speed, the corpse lunges at a triton radical, knocking it to the ground.
or
The eyes of a Grimswarm giant pillager corpse flare green as the body rises to an twisted standing position. With unnatural speed, the corpse lunges and wraps itself around a Grimswarm giant ranger in a tight grasp. The green haze fades from a Grimswarm giant pillager's eyes, leaving the corpse clamped to the immobilized giant ranger.

Push Ability: This empowers the staff to where it increases the damage by some arbitrary %. This lasts for 10 minutes, on a 1 hour cooldown.

>push my staff
You plant the butt of your witchwood staff into the ground, forming a necrotic haze that drifts down to your feet.
The mist collects into the shape of an ethereal serpent as it slithers towards the corpse of a Grimswarm giant sorceress. The serpant opens its maw and envelops the corpse, consuming it and leaving no evidence of life behind.
The mist returns back to your witchwood staff, causing it to glow brightly before fading away.

The eyes of a Grimswarm giant raider corpse flare green as the body rises to an twisted standing position. With unnatural speed, the corpse lunges at a Grimswarm giant destroyer, clawing and biting at any flesh it can find as it slides to the ground.
... 30 points of damage!
Wild slash scratches the back of the giant destroyer's hand.
The eyes of a Grimswarm giant warrior corpse flare green as the body rises to an twisted standing position. With unnatural speed, the corpse lunges at a Grimswarm giant destroyer, clawing and biting at any flesh it can find as it slides to the ground.
... 40 points of damage!
Deep, bloody slash to the giant destroyer's right thigh!

Point Ability: This causes every dead corpse in the room to attack the thing you the point the staff at, 1 use every 1 hour. I later realized that if you empower the staff first, as shown above, the damage is even better in the following sequence.

!J>point my staff at acolyte
You point your witchwood staff at a Grimswarm orc acolyte. A green mist swirls for a moment.
Just a nick.
The eyes of a Grimswarm orc elementalist corpse flare green as the body rises to an twisted standing position. With unnatural speed, the corpse lunges at a Grimswarm orc acolyte, clawing and biting at any flesh it can find as it slides to the ground.
... 35 points of damage!
Slash along the orc acolyte's lower back.
The eyes of a Grimswarm orc ranger corpse flare green as the body rises to an twisted standing position. With unnatural speed, the corpse lunges at a Grimswarm orc acolyte, clawing and biting at any flesh it can find as it slides to the ground.
... 20 points of damage!
Quick slash to the orc acolyte's upper left arm!
Just a nick.
The eyes of a Grimswarm orc cleric corpse flare green as the body rises to an twisted standing position. With unnatural speed, the corpse lunges at a Grimswarm orc acolyte, clawing and biting at any flesh it can find as it slides to the ground.
... 10 points of damage!
Slash to the orc acolyte's right leg hits high!
Kinda makes your knees weak, huh?
The eyes of a Grimswarm orc archer corpse flare green as the body rises to an twisted standing position. With unnatural speed, the corpse lunges at a Grimswarm orc acolyte, clawing and biting at any flesh it can find as it slides to the ground.
... 25 points of damage!
Quick slash catches the orc acolyte's cheek!
Dimples are always nice.
The eyes of a Grimswarm orc ranger corpse flare green as the body rises to an twisted standing position. With unnatural speed, the corpse lunges at a Grimswarm orc acolyte, clawing and biting at any flesh it can find as it slides to the ground.
... 45 points of damage!
Feint left spins the orc acolyte around!
Jagged slash to lower back.
The orc acolyte rolls over and dies.

Still haven't figured out all the zests and such, but those are the main abilities. This thing is an animal in swarms, invasions, warcamps. Every creature you contribute to, will get consumed by the staff upon death and will look for something to attack.

Apparently there is messaging when pointing the staff at players, haven't tried that yet.

The use is if I got beat up while hunting instead of going to town I can just look into the mirror and instantly heal all my injuries. Then when I'm done I go back to town, transfer the wounds back, and give an empath some exp.

I think the mirror was a pretty cool item. Not sure it's particularly useful if you don't get wounded much, but if you do, it could come in handy in a pinch. Not a big fan of the 5 second RT, but it's not as bad as the RT for munching a bunch of herbs.

"set of red glaes talons"

The talons have 20 charges and start recharging on the last charge use, it takes 24 hours to recharge. 1 charge is used against a critter and 5 against another player when you point it at them. It seems to add the wards and other spells the critter has on it to your next physical attack, haven't tested with ranged yet only melee. The more spells the creature has the bigger the AS boost and there is also a lighting flare if you dont kill it outright. Here are some examples against vaespilons.

You swing an inlaid white eonake sledgehammer at a vaespilon!
AS: +469 vs DS: +259 with AvD: +31 + d100 roll: +73 = +314
... and hit for 138 points of damage!
Right leg ripped from socket at the knee!
A vaespilon falls to the ground grasping her mangled right leg!
The vaespilon is stunned!
Your white eonake sledgehammer fades some.
Roundtime: 5 sec.
Roundtime changed to 1 second.
R>

Tha-thump.

>point tal at vae

You bring the tips of the talons on one hand together, and a chain of green lightning erupts from their apex!

The raw energy fades as it arcs toward its target, then magical energies ripple as the bolt strikes the vaespilon and vanishes!

You feel a surge as magical energies are siphoned to you from a vaespilon's wards!
>kill
Waves of black anti-mana wash through the area.

>
You swing an inlaid white eonake sledgehammer at a vaespilon!
AS: +547 vs DS: +230 with AvD: +31 + d100 roll: +90 = +438
... and hit for 228 points of damage!
The vaespilon wails in terrifying pain one last time and lies still.
The very powerful look leaves a vaespilon.
The white light leaves a vaespilon.
A vaespilon glances around, looking a bit less confident.
The deep blue glow leaves a vaespilon.
The tingling sensation and sense of security leaves a vaespilon.
The brilliant luminescence fades from around a vaespilon.
The bright luminescence fades from around a vaespilon.
The powerful look leaves a vaespilon.
Your white eonake sledgehammer fades some.
Roundtime: 5 sec.
Roundtime changed to 1 second.

78 point AS boost, I havent done the math on the spells it had yet. Here is another vaespilon where i get an even higher boost, the vaespilon was wall of force which caused an even bigger boost.

You swing an inlaid white eonake sledgehammer at a vaespilon!
AS: +469 vs DS: +428 with AvD: +31 + d100 roll: +96 = +168
... and hit for 54 points of damage!
Hard blow breaks the femur!
The vaespilon is knocked to the ground!
The vaespilon is stunned!
Your white eonake sledgehammer fades some.

AS: +606 vs DS: +374 with AvD: +31 + d100 roll: +67 = +330
... and hit for 133 points of damage!
Weapon arm mangled horribly.

** Twisted by your attack, the vaespilon's warding energies realign themselves in a searing flash of lightning! **

... 12 points of damage!
Heavy spark to right leg. The vaespilon cringes in surprise.
Your white eonake sledgehammer fades some.
Roundtime: 5 sec.
Roundtime changed to 1 second.

a 137 AS boost! and the lightning flare because I didnt kill it. The lighting flare is the critter's wards twisting. The loighting

spells this one had was

The very powerful look leaves a vaespilon.
The white light leaves a vaespilon.
A vaespilon glances around, looking a bit less confident.
The deep blue glow leaves a vaespilon.
The tingling sensation and sense of security leaves a vaespilon.

The light blue glow leaves a vaespilon.
The powerful look leaves a vaespilon.
The wall of force disappears from around a vaespilon.
The guiding force leaves a vaespilon.

The talon's will not work on a creature without spell obviously, as i pointed them at a triton executioner and it had no effect.

Analyze

You analyze your red glaes talons and sense that the item cannot be altered in any way.

The creator has also provided the following information:
** -- This item CANNOT be altered at all. -- **

A set of red glaes talons are a wearable functional item and are activated with POINT TALONS AT [TARGET].
Invocable 20 times per day, use against a critter costs 1 charge and use against a player costs 5.

Number of charges used today is 3.

You get no sense of whether or not the talons may be further lightened.

zests and looks

>look tal (worn)
Crafted more artfully than you originally realized, the gracefully arched talons double the length of the fingers and thumbs that they adorn. Only the gleaming red glaes proclaims them overtly as arcane augmentations to your hands.

>look tal>
You can see that the individual talons have each been fashioned with a deep socket in their base. The sockets are padded and lined with a layer of supple leather which provides the wearer with a snug and secure fit within each red glaes artifact.

>tilt talons
Stretching your fingers fully, you then brush the tip of each talon against the thumb in quick succession, and observe the string of bright green sparks with satisfaction.

>tickle tal
You idly pick between your teeth with a pinky talon.

>remove tal
You remove each of the talons from the fingers and thumbs of both hands in succession.

>wear tal
You insert your fingers and thumbs into a set of red glaes talons in succession, taking care to seat them fully and firmly on both hands.

Making arrows, handing arrows to someone... Those arrows didn't work.
Passing the quiver off to someone, having them make the arrows. the arrows worked!
If I make a stack of arrows with one spell when I make it... then cast a new spell at the quiver, the arrows I previously made will get that spell's effect.

I think the mirror was a pretty cool item. Not sure it's particularly useful if you don't get wounded much, but if you do, it could come in handy in a pinch. Not a big fan of the 5 second RT, but it's not as bad as the RT for munching a bunch of herbs.

rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

The use is if I got beat up while hunting instead of going to town I can just look into the mirror and instantly heal all my injuries. Then when I'm done I go back to town, transfer the wounds back, and give an empath some exp.

If you transfer wounds off you and into the mirror and then get wounds again on you, do the ones from the mirror stack on same body locations. Also, can it kill you at all?

The talon's will not work on a creature without spell obviously, as i pointed them at a triton executioner and it had no effect.

Does that use a charge when you point at a target with no spells?

a rune-carved dark veil iron hammer

#1 -
As you sing, an image forms in your mind...

Roundtime: 6 sec.

#2 -
As you continue your song, the dark veil iron hammer begins to rumble in your hands, emitting a thunderous bellow...

Roundtime: 5 sec.

#3 -
As you continue your song, the image slowly and lethargically comes to your mind...

Roundtime: 5 sec.

You watch in moments a process that must have taken days to complete as the elderly smith refines the material he harvested from the site of the Elemental War.

7x True Black Ora No-Daichi

a black ora no-dachi with a blood red sandruby pommel

As your song flows into the black ora no-dachi, it is echoed back like a distorted reflection from a warped mirror. The discordant tones twist and writhe across the backdrop of your mind, bringing forth imagines that flash with alarming vibrancy. -- A light haze of smoke slants across the scene, back lit by dozens of ebony candles glowing with a purple-tinged brilliance. Your gaze pans upward, and you find yourself staring into the marble faces of the Lornon pantheon. The smoke dances languidly in your line of sight, creating on the pale visages the illusion of movement - leering smiles, laughter, and contemptuous gazes from cold stone eyes. Your breath quickens, and your sight begins to fail as all plunges into darkness.

The notes of your song shed light once again on your marbled surroundings. Above, the patrons of Lornon gaze downward upon the scene, and you turn your eyes from them, instead taking in your surroundings. Around you rise the walls of a marble chapel, and tucked within the stony niches are windows of dark stained glass. No light filters through their jewel-toned panels, and instead, the light from a myriad of candles caresses their polished surfaces.

Before you, in the center of a floor marked by concentric circles of brass-inlaid conduits, is a raised, ivory marble and obsidian altar. Atop the altar, the prone form of a young man lies, his face turned from you, and his limbs fixed at each corner. You can see that from each of the corners, thin rivers of blood run within brass-inlaid channels, conveying the sanguine liquid to the design underfoot. A glance downward reveals the labyrinthine pattern traced in blood, and the movement of your head causes your vision to swim. With a quick inhalation, your sight is extinguished.

With a frightful abruptness, your song calls forth a vision from the black ora no-dachi. -- You find yourself closer now to the altar at the labyrinth's heart, and a heavy weight calls your attention to your hands. You find there a black ora no-dachi with a blood red sandruby pommel, its blade smeared with incarnadine streaks. In your chest, your breath comes and goes in haste, and you feel a certain dizziness as you take the blade into one hand and extend your other to the face of the man atop the altar. Your fingers leave ruby-hued prints on his skin as you tilt his face toward you, and you hear an unidentifiable, though audible noise fall from your lips. All at once, darkness closes your sight.

The notes of your song draw you back into the black ora no-dachi's memories, and you find that the face looking up at you no longer belongs to the prone young man. Instead, your own visage stares back at you: sightless eyes, sallow skin, and lips perched open as if to draw the next breath, which never seems to come. Laughter begins to echo in the empty chapel, and you look up, expecting to see one of the marble statues come to life with morbid merriment. Instead, they are motionless, and you come to realize that the hysterical laughter is none other than your own. As you stumble backwards, your feet slip in the blood that runs in narrow rivers through the marble floor, and you feel yourself falling... falling... falling... until blackness engulfs you.

Well, it looks like I'm going to be stuck with an amulet that enhances recovery like an earth node by not enhancing recovery anything at all like an earth node. So far on the officials I've gotten 2 replies to my thread by a GM, one reply essentially is "sorry you were confused by the whole earthnode bit" and the other GM reply is to someone hijacking my thread to whiteknight for the GM.

So yeah, the usual.

Here's the analyze. Essentially it looks like this is some sort of 4 tier unlock item that is probably coming soon to a digging feeder near you or Tier 1 will be on sale for 50k off a shelf or something. The only difference is in duration. I can't fathom why this was considered Great Auction quality. Its not a bad item, but I sure as hell wish they hadn't sold it as an earth node and that I hadn't used my slot on it. Even the analyze says earthnode.

Sigh.

You analyze your cottage amulet and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions.

The creator has also provided the following information:
This cottage amulet can be altered normally.

The cottage amulet is a magic item that, when worn, enhances recovery similar to an earthnode.

The amulet can be used once per day and aids in recovery of health, stamina, power and spirit by restoring a point of each per minute (except for spirit, which is restored every ten minutes). Once per day here means 24 hours must pass between each use.

The amulet can have one of four tiers, which determines the length of time that the amulet's recovery effect remains active after use. Each tier provides 30 minutes of the amulet's recovery effect's dduration.

This amulet is tier 4 of 4. The duration of the recovery effect of this amulet is 120 minutes.

The amulet traps four verbs: KNOCK, PRESS, RUB and TOUCH.

The KNOCK verb displays special messaging if the amulet depicts some sort of home (e.g., a cottage, a castle, a cave).

This amulet has special KNOCK messaging.

Only one of this kind of item can be worn at a time.

You get no sense of whether or not the amulet may be further lightened.

I agree and think they could be bumped to +4 for each of those per minute, for T4, +3/min for T3 (also very rarely distributed), etc along with the longer cooldowns or less overall time in effect for lower tiers.

Because if this is the grand auction tier, 30 minutes of currently minor effect shouldn't be the only differentiation of the script tiers.

Sucks about the confusion (analyze should be changed) and slot loss but at least it was cheap in silvers!

Edit:

Only really because it is tiered and if other lower tiers very very similar to this grand auction come out later it cheapens it further. Otherwise the auctioneer was pretty specific, I honed on to the numbers they gave, and the price was low enough where it was buyer beware basically.

This doesn't make any sense to me. I thought it would effectively make it so you had the gains in regeneration that you would on a full node, just not the EXP benefits. Where do they get 1/1/1/ 1 every ten minutes from "portable earth node"?

To the buyer: I'm guessing you wanted the experience portion of the earthnode benefits?

I don't think they should have called it "earthnode" in the description when auctioning, but I never assumed it was anything more than the 1/1/1/1 that they explicitly stated it to be.

I think the 4/4/4/4 would be a good compromise. Especially the spirit part.

I forgot about spirit, yea that is probably too much.

Bonus or time between or overall can be adjusted to whatever needs to be, so long as the overall boosts (especially for mana/stamina/health) rise because +1 is weak for a T4 or auction item.

No, I knew it didn't have any of the exp components which was stated by the auctioneer. However the reason I know that is they said something along the lines of "it enhances recovery like an earth node, except not to experience" heh. This was on one of the items after mine, a couple of which didn't even mention the 1/1/1 per, just that it "enhanced recovery like an earthnode".

I honestly thought that during the 2 hour duration you got the recovery of an earthnode sans exp absorption AND the extra 1/1/1 per 1 and 1 per 10.

Here's what Baroque said on mine:

Baroqe says, "The item, when worn, enhances recovery similar to an earthnode."
Baroqe says, "It can be used once per day and aids in recovery of health, stamina, power and spirit by restoring a point of each per minute (except for spirit, which is restored every ten minutes)."

I took that to mean once per day you get an earthnode recovery for 2 hours AND the item provides the additional recovery.

In hindsight, I see that it wasn't intentionally misleading ... but no, I would not have bid on an item that just provides the latter part. I thought that I was snatching a nice item from those waiting later to bid (this was the 1st or 2nd item up in the silver tent), in fact some of the later ones went in the 20's to 30's so I was sorta right. :)

I have indeed asked for a review of the item and some sort of bump in power to say 5 per and/or increased spirit regen, duration, uses per day .. something to meet me halfway. None of those things will come close to giving me earthnode recovery but would be an equitable outcome.

And if not, well its not my first time down this road and it won't be my last while playing this game. The very first EG at the auction I bought a black rose ... which turned out to not even be unique ... and crumbly. At least I still have 1 rose petal left from it, LOL. At Droughtman's I pulled a 40 charge, non merchant rechargeable, crumbly amulet. Etc, Etc. I'll live, but it'll sure suck. Again. :)

Lich: +29 AS
Cerebralite: +27 AS
Master: +20 AS
Siphon: +12 AS
Destroyer: Doesn't work (I've heard they work on vvrael, and I believe it, but destroyers wear no spells.)

Siren: +35 AS
Dissembler: +21 AS
Radical: +20 AS
GWE: +5 (it was wearing only 507/508/425)
Combatant: Doesn't work
Defender: Doesn't work
Executioner: Doesn't work

Shaper: +31 AS
Fanatic: +31 AS, I think - believe it was +61 but with a +30 AS ensorcell boost
Sentinel: Doesn't work

Of course, if anything casts defensive spells beyond what it spawned with, the boost goes up.

The teaser mentioned 25% AS boost equal to target's DS boost, and the teaser used the green ones. Tough to nail it down because 405 is showing me that most creatures must be getting some additional DS from extra spell ranks known beyond the base value.

From Sentral's before/after WoF logs, it looks like 59% for the red ones.

I think that as soon as they said the talons weren't the most powerful version of that form they took a large negative hit, especially after the first pair that were called the most powerful of the lot available.

And yet the last pair, weaker than red (but stronger than green) still went for 31m more than the red, heh. Mind you, it was the last item auctioned, but the value seemed to hold up fine despite not being the most powerful of the lot.

The teaser showed the green (weakest). So while it's sad that red wasn't the strongest available, it was still a bonus above what they showed beforehand, and apparently a very large bonus at that.

If they _all_ took a value hit up front because of that, I'm happy... brought them closer to my price range.

Completely forgot to post the description of my hurling bandolier I got.

a pale bazan bandolier
>l band
Stained in pale honeyed hues and sporadically woven through with thin threads of gold that add sparks of gleaming color, the bandolier's bazan is soft and supple. A tiny blue music note is stitched into the very top corner of the piece.
>l in band
Surrounded by some swirling mist is a glacial blue rhimar discus.

5x, cold-flaring discus
I believe the auctioneer said 'bazan' is some sort of sheepskin or wool or something. I'd have to look it up again.

The musical note in the description intrigued me and it actually inspired me to create a new character to use the bandolier. A Bard. I'm not sure if there has ever been a hurling Bard, though time to try it out! It'll be a while before she can wield the bandolier, so I'm sword&boarding her for her first 30 days.

As a side note, I didn't detect any unique loresong for the item - I imagine it's the same as any of the other hurling bandoliers except the discus being 5x and flaring rather than plain 4x like the handaxe one was.

Side question - can you use throwing weapons with a shield? Seems like it should be possible.

Yep. A discus will act like you're holding/swinging a jackblade in melee combat, and requires brawling training. Using a shield in conjuction is fine.

You can use thrown with a shield. A discus is a moderate thrown weapon that swings like an axe, but has lower DFs when thrown. It's pretty good vs light armor, but will be a bit of a challenge vs heavy armor.

I thought it swung like an axe too, but the wiki says Jackblade and requires brawling. Have you tested it recently?

Unless it was changed at some point, the jack blade reference isn't correct.

I've learned not to trust my memory and go by the wiki, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's wrong in this instance.

Now that I think about it, chakrams swung like an axe, the discus was like a hammer I think. Maybe it was changed? Lousy change if so.

Discus are crush only

Rolfard is correct, it's a crush-only weapon. Hammers have some puncture damage.

I did see the jack-blade reference on the wiki, as well, which I believe is what it said for the quoit/chakram, too.

I don't know if I was missing something, but it seemed like the numbers for discus and quoit looked exactly the same for DF on the wiki, which seemed odd since they're different weapon bases technically.

And I was planning on doing AIMed hurling and just crush their heads with the discus. May be pretty cool once Bard is old enough to have the Tonis song, as could hurl a good amount of them in a short time. I dunno - character concept should be fun to RP, at the very least.

My main wonder was regarding the shield and still being able to reliably HURL the discus, which seems to have been answered - should help with defense due to having to open aim instead of snipe to have a shield in the off-hand. Likely sonic shield eventually.

The best training path you can do with a bandolier is have brawling as a backup for when you're not holding a weapon. Whether you go shield or TWC is up to you though!

I edited the post (#27) about the Spellstorm runestaff. I made three changes to the original post: (1) changed the paragraph about ambient zests slightly, (2) added the entire loresong, which is quite long, and (3) changed the description of the third ability.

If you know of any location or history that ties into the loresong, other than that it took place in the Ur-Daemon war, I would be interested in hearing about it.

With regard to the third ability, I initially assumed that it used one spirit per cast, but it was just a coincidence that it worked out that way the first time I used it. I now think the third ability lasts 6 seconds per infused spirit point.

Fun with Talons!

Daiyon brings the tips of the talons on one hand together, and a chain of green lightning erupts from their apex!

The raw energy fades as it arcs toward you, then magical energies ripple as the bolt of lightning strikes you squarely in the chest and vanishes!
J>
Your heightened awareness of your own vulnerabilities fades away.
J>
Daiyon removes each of the talons from the fingers and thumbs of both hands in succession.
J>
[iSigils]>sigil of major protection
As you concentrate on your sigil, you become much more aware of vulnerable spots in your defenses.

[iSigils]>sigil of focus
You feel your mind and body gird themselves against magical interference.

Daiyon offers you a set of red glaes talons. Click ACCEPT to accept the offer or DECLINE to decline it. The offer will expire in 30 seconds.
J>
Daiyon slips a pair of shadowy ebon gloves slicked with blood over his hands.
J>accept
You accept Daiyon's offer and are now holding a set of red glaes talons.
J>
Daiyon reaches for his eahnor-edged wakizashi and it nearly springs into his hand.
J>
With a nearly imperceptible movement, Daiyon neatly draws his dark alloy wakizashi from his scabbard and settles the wakizashi into a ready position.
J>
A swirling cloud of shadow forms around Daiyon's right hand as he prepares a spell...
Daiyon gestures.
Daiyon blends into invisibility among the surroundings.
>
Daiyon leaps from hiding to attack!
Daiyon swings a sleek eahnor-edged wakizashi at you!
AS: +1023 vs DS: +541 with AvD: +10 + d100 roll: +85 = +577
... and hits for 78 points of damage!
Your right hip is pulped, severing your leg.
You fall screaming to the ground grasping your mangled right leg!
You are stunned for 12 rounds!

** Twisted by Daiyon's attack, your warding energies realign themselves in a searing flash of lightning! **

A black scale coat-of-plates partially deflects the onslaught of the shocking attack.
... 10 points of damage!
Heavy spark to back. Bet that hurts.

Tattoo is apparently 20 heals an hour, not including health which isn't a counting ability, all in all a grand win

I think the empath tattoo's were probably in the top 3 or 4 neatest items of the auction.

If anyone else has a set of gem-eating armor, apparently the padding at least won't show for an assess/AI crystal/presumably loresong until after the 1st hit. Also, it seems the timer is in game from what I can tell or perhaps stops when lockered.
