So i'm back after a break and getting back into the swing of things, but hunting after all of the new changes seems quite a bit more difficult, and my kill speed is way down. I'm 48 now and working my way through Bonespear in Soulhaven. I've got a fixskills that I can use, and I'm just generally looking for advice on what might be a more effective hunting style, than evoked 505's into minor fire (which takes forever). I used to hunt with rapid fire and that worked really well, but the new version does not seem to be very effective.
Here's my skills and stats:

I usually evoke 909 and tap my runestaff to knock foes down, then hit them with 906. I'm hunting highly critable creatures right now, so that makes it pretty easy and I'm 78 so I have a bigger pool of mana to utilize. At 48, 906 might be too costly mana wise to hunt with on every attack, but combined with mana leech it seems like even at your level it should work fine.
Are you hunting undead because you're in voln?
Your training seems fine, but people who have more expertise than me will weigh in I'm sure.

I hunt mostly undead or whatever bounty I'm on. I'm currently COL, but Honestly may swap to Voln or GOS just for something to do. I'm generally fine on mana stuff just takes quite a while to plink down but I suppose I'm just spoiled from the rapid fire days.

Your training looks good. The biggest changes in the wizard world is around the lore training. However, I wouldn't anticipate any ease of hunting even if you were to realign your lore training. It's more about style/tactics. Your main go-to attack spell should be either 904 or 906.
Eidolons are non-corporeal... so you're not critting them to death. Don't bother with 505, just go straight 904/906.
Dybbuks are your best targets, crittable, 505 opener, 906. if they're immune to stun, ignore 505. These guys also have the worst elemental TD, and they're casters (from what I remember) so target these with 516 when you're low on mana.
Waerns are quadruped dogs, so they're able to get up quickly, but I remember them being super critable. I would go straight to 906.

Actually, I would disagree regarding the lore comment. 20 ranks of Elemental Lore: Fire - can greatly increase your effectiveness because you will be able to cast Steam Bolt on those undead targets for 4 mana per cast, that will deal a ton of damage (but very weak crits). This works wonders on non-corp undead and high HP targets, but not against targets with heavy armor.
In addition, the fire lore will unlock your 513 ability to gain AS after each bolt attack, which can help, to some extent.
For pure bolting wizards in the early levels (sub 80 basically), that 20 points in fire lore goes a long way.

Don't want to say it doesn't help, but as beneficial as those things are, I wouldn't burn a fixskills over them, and it wouldn't be the difference between being able to successfully hunt an area or unsuccessfully hunt an area.

So it might be worth it to pick up a bit more fire lore as I go along.
Another question since I'm getting close -- do you think 950 will be worth it right at 50 (i get by with air 518 right now), or should i just keep on the path of slowly raising Wizard ranks and keeping 1x MJE/MNE

Nah, it's a bit too costly to get right at level 50... and it's really for special circumstances. 518 will still be your go-to AoE. I typically only pop it for like, 40+ critters in Reim.

Move to EN, you don't need to retrain, you just need to hunt better things.

More questions!
I'm so bored to death with COL, with my meager 56 stamina will I be able to cut it in GOS, or should I try Voln?

I can't keep all the sigils up that I'd like with 88 stamina on my 81 Bard. And the weighting effects are only applied to hated foes. I'd like to keep up Concentration, Defense, Offense, Major Bane, Major Protection.
You'll burn a LOT of mana per minute keeping sigils up in GOS, Running Major Bane/Protection alone is 20 mana a minute. And if you want to use minor bane/protection, well that's just more AS/DS loss compared to COL.
COL provides the highest AS/DS benefits of any society, with the one caveat of hunting undead in Voln... However, Symbol of Supremacy costs a lot of favor to keep up constantly, and usually if you are running it, will net negative favor from a hunt.
Keep in mind, unlike other societies, COL sign duration increases with level. Sigil and Symbols will not.
With your dark elf Spirit regeneration rates of 1 per 5 minutes off node, you need a 10 minute duration sign to reach limbo when running sword/shields (sorry, no dissipation for you) 10 minutes is 600 seconds... at 10 seconds per level, that's level 60... so you're running a spirit deficit for the next 12 levels, but then will be running a surplus.

Some pretty sound advice there from Whirlin. Good luck :)

How long does the spirit regen last on a charge?
Are those rings minor, lesser, or greater regen items?
