More about the implications for society and 3.5M truck drivers than the technology itself, but pretty profound I thought. The technology already exists - the only thing standing in the way are regulators and the truck drivers themselves (who actually have pretty powerful lobbies as FDX and UPS haven't even been able to get 33' trailers allowed).

Fun read. I thought the "utopian society" blurb was a little out of place in that graph until the end.

Self driving trucks making a delivery to a fully automated McDonald's. The next step would be to create a machine to unload the truck and every McDonald's can be run by 1 person.

I think the timeframe presented is optimistic, but self-driving vehicles are coming. It will be interesting to see how society adapts.
