I'm very interested in starting Yoga. I'm wondering if any of you do participate in Yoga..
Do you go to classes, follow a video, follow a book, website, etc.
Personally I'm looking for a yoga video/dvd I think.. but I want to see what you all have to say.

Yoga is hard as shit. My roommie and I went during a free week our freshman year and we just went to the intermediate class, cause we figured beginner would just be a waste. Yah... so much for no regrets. Overall, it's awesome, it's something that's actually relaxing and useful, i'd suggest checking it out.

Definately recommend it. I have access to cheap yoga lessons through my uni. But my girl friends tell me that ther are even better ones in the city proper. There are many different types too. Beekram(?) yoga is the one where they make the room like 20398402938403928 degrees and you do your thang in the heat. It's actually pretty rejunivating from what I can tell.
Just uh . . . don't eat something that you know will give you intestinal problems before you go. I did that for my ballet class it was teh suck. Kinda hard to pick up on women when you're trying to hold back from making mud butt.

That's disturbing. But anyway..
I just got a bunch of info on Yoga for pregnant women on the internet, which gave me positions, pics, instructions, and benefits.
I learned also about Yoga Nidra which is supposed to be so relaxing and rejuvenating, that an hour of its deep meditation can refresh you like 4 hours of sleep.
I'll be starting this weekend.

When the mood strikes, I occasionally practice Siddha Yoga. It's a combination of all the different forms, for the purpose of inner reflection and meditation. It isn't about exercise, it's a heavy-duty spiritual kinda thing, and it has for the most part replaced religion in my life. The best thing about it, is you don't have to go to classes or twist yourself into nutso positions (though there's nothing preventing you from doing either if you wish).

I meditate often, it's a normal part of my life and spirituality, although I don't use yoga specifically to do it.
Right now I'm looking for ways to get more tone and limber so as to be able to contort my body into horrible positions in 6 and a half months when I have this child.

Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.
I tried yoga once because it was free at a gym I went too.
I was like.. YOGA??!?!? FUCKING EZ SHIT!!11
What happened?
Afterwards my body was like.. "HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA FUCKING PWNED!!!!!!!!1111111"

I have never done yoga, although it has been suggested to me by my Chiropractor, as I carry a lot of stress from work in my back.
I dated a girl who practiced Ashtanga Yoga. I am not sure if there is a correlation but she was the horniest girl I have ever met.

I'm looking to be more flexible and to get exercise. What type of Yoga would that be?

On ONE channel there is a program called Yoga Zone. I believe they have a website and videos as well. I found this very good to start with. The postures are challenging but definately doable. Look them up. Yoga is good for posture, strength and flexibility.

I go to Yoga classes 3 times a month. Its great for flexibility and, Ahem, stamina. :D
When I was looking for an instructor I was interested in finding someone who practiced the lifestyle too, so I could get the whole spiritual *thang* along with my physical lessons.
I got lucky and found an old fart who practices Mahayana Buddhism as well as yoga, so during a lesson I feel like I'm delving into a whole new culture. Its a great escape from the normal exercise routine.
I suggest asking instructors about they're personal beliefs if you are looking for one. I've tried yoga without that extra spiritual *zing* to it and it just seems like exotic aerobics to me.
Flexibility and stamina eh... couldn't hurt to have more of that.
Is Yoga anything like doing pilates?

Do Kegels or do not, it's in your thighs.
Yeah, I as well, tried yoga for a whole 2 or 3 sessions, what a nightmare that was.. And of course, I only went because I was trying to hook up with this girl, and thought that by taking yoga classes with her that would help.
It did, we dated for a while, but I promised myself I would never twist myself in painful positions like that for a woman until after we started dating ;)

I know someone that does pilates and she thinks they are similar but I disagree. I think pilates is not as physical, especially once you get to the harder yoga positions. JESUS. I couldnt do some of those backbendy-like-a-pretzel things. I am not the superman of backbendy yoga. I got scolded by a 50 year old Tibetan. :CRIE:

I've done Hatha Yoga for years. I've found it's kept me flexible and increased my stamina. I do alright for an old broad.
It's also helped to keep me in these size sixes I'm so attached to. :D
