View Full Version : Undead Hunter?

I want to exclusively hunt undead from 25-100; ideally I don't even want mixed hunting areas (where living and undead spawn together), is this possible? Can one reasonably level from 25th to Cap like this? Difficulty, harder then normal? Suggestions toward cap?

This is a stupid idea. Don't do it.

Huh not the response I expected. At a quick glance at the critter list it seems like you can, guess not. Well, there goes 12 mil.

You can hunt Reim during gap levels

You can Reim. That'd be the only way to do it because of the Undead Gap. Also you say that you don't even want mixed areas, and although I haven't played capped characters I don't think there are any capped hunting grounds that are ONLY undead.

Capped undead area would be nice, should have vampires in it!

Hmm, Sanctum looks mostly undead. I'm gonna try to map this out from 25 to 100; I think I can make it work damn it!

Hmm, not sure where this undead gap is? Little help may be in order. This is a real let down though was looking to get a whole Voln Redemption One of these Undead is my long lost wife story going.

60's to mid 70's there is nothing undead to hunt (except for Reim, and I think something in the Red Forest). Just fudge your RP a little.

Also, who needs a wife? Nedum vereri will love you long time.

Nice, that castle that you can see through the windows of the temple of love could be... the vampire lord's lair! Capped undead hunting area, maybe with the possibility of contracting vampirism (too much?)

Yeah, I'm entirrly not certain why this is such a terrible idea. Looking through my old school printed Zepath maps coupled with GSwiki, it looks completely doable until 60-75 which I can just Reim up. For endgame Sanctum is effectively an undead only area further in and plane 5 in the Rift. What am I missing??

Sanctum is not undead only.

Plane 5 is the only hunting area not mixed (other than Reim) that I can think of - and it blows if capped (way too many kills needed and difficulty to push to fried due to their level trainings versus cap).

Oh? I heard in the spire you'll only get the shapers, lurks, and monstrosity... or are the sentinels and fanatics everywhere?

Yes

Also plane 5 can have a rift crawler burrow through into the plane so only Reim that I can think of for only capped undead

man that sucks. although the positive side to that is a blessed weapon works on both living and dead but not the other way around. Wonder if you lose blesses even if you hit just living stuff?

I honestly hate every post you make.

"Please explain to me how to hunt 100% undead from zero to cap!"
"Thank you, now that the easy stuff is out of the way and we have discussed what to do at and near cap... Can somebody tell me how a basic bless works?"

All pretty standard questions. I'm old, don't really have the luxury of going 5 years into my character then go.."ohh crap, yeah this isn't working."

Honestly you're just better off playing the game for now and not worrying so much what's in store for you years down the road when (IF) you finally cap.

Oh.. I'm capping. It's happening. Or my conversation with my son at my death bed is going to go a bit differently.

"And to my son Andrew I bequeath to thee the solemn quest to reach thine 100 levels in the 80's text based MUD Le Gemstone V."

Might take that long to cap with that path. Go hunt until 100 and THEN go search the graveyards for your bride...or make a few searches in between by hunting undead only.

You know, all those things that are undead started out living, why not help some living on their way?

Crap, sorry. What was I thinking?? :(

Since the new job I haven't been able to play much so I'm living vicariously through others.

I'm reminded of a person that came to me looking for training help because he couldn't kill things fast enough... Because he would only use whip-blades due to RP reasons.

I do wish someone could remake the chain spear script into a whip blade item that people could actually hunt with.

TLDR for future undead hunter wannabees. From levels 0-65. You can hunt undead 24/7 without any difficulty as long as you're willing to travel a bit. After 65 up to just before you hit 80 it becomes near impossible to exclusively hunt undead. Choices open up from late 70's to cap but it will all be mixed undead/living.

Basically, once you hit 65th level you may want to reconsider or fixskill (which you'll probably get for free by the time you hit 65) or just adjust so you can do some decent damage to the living as well.

It's really not as bad as you're making it out to be. Maybe you want to hit those levels yourself before recommending training adjustments?

Yeah, it is based all on hearsay and what people are recommending. So, who knows?

Actually, was more about the people that gave me advice in-game then anyone here. But even here, there's conflicting advice. "It ain't so bad."... "Don't do it or Trump will win!"
