I've not writter or read any of these, but it took all of about 5 minutes to find. Just look backwards in the folder.

or use the SEARCH function. best way to find script IMO. i use it a lot when i'm lookin for oddball ones, i.e. fletching, forging, etc. a lot easier than sifting through a bunch of older posts

I noticed no one ever likes to admit they actually script hunt. But I know people do it. Shit back when AOL was giving away free month subscription I would create one and script all damn day just for kicks. If I wanted a thief or an archer for invasions or somethin, just to have on hand.
anyone else want to come out of the closet?
I did script once in my GS career. Back a loooong time ago I afk script hunted all the way through rats. The rest was all me though.

I script my other guys, I don't hide it. Never scripted a thing on Anticor save movement.

Oh for sure. if you dont script movement you're a sucker

Also I don't make alot of my scripts known for two big reasons:
1 I'm still using them
2 They suck and I'm still tweeking them.
They are getting to where they work like they should but I still think I can make them better. I don't really want my scripted areas common knowledge because I like scripting without 2m other people doing the same.

I hear ya. You gotta love those circular areas with only one type of critter that spawns there though. I've gone into places like that and seen boxes galore on the ground and been like... Oh man, somone needs to put some looting into their script.
Or the even better one, where people just sit in one room. I love going into a room seeing a guy sitting there with 100 gems and boxes around him. you tap him on the shoulder and he says nothing... pfft... free boxes says me.

My scripts loot, I only hunt areas with multiple critters, I don't like it to be THAT obvious that it's a script running on my little guys.

i have no problem admitting it. i script hunt my wizard, and my younger characters. i've even afk scripted a few times, but that was because i fell asleep while my paladin was hunting rats.
i dont try to hide it, hell, polariz called me on it the other night. i'm just too lazy to hunt having to stance off, cast, stance def. although i could just use macros, but, meh

I've been accused multiple times of script hunting when I was not. Macros are my friend :P

I can't really script hunt Anticor, there's just too many ways for him to die if I'm not doing it right. The ability to adapt to any situation is what makes my training as viable as it is. Lower lvls are easy especially if the thing being scripted doesn't have any man. attacks.

I macro hunt a lot, but I don't script hunt. Mostly cause I don't know crap about writing scripts, and I like to BS while I hunt.
What I do script:
Traveling
CoL signs (just so I don't have to type them all in)
yep, that's it.
AnticorRifling

I macro my COLs
alt + z = sign of swords \r sign of smite \r sign of strik \r
alt + x = sign of shields \r sign of defend \r sign of ward \r
I put them in that order in case I get the "Sorry you can only type ahead 1 line BS" So no matter what my big AS and DS signs hit first and go down in order.

<< anyone else want to come out of the closet? >>
Considering I've written an entire programming language for the purpose of 'Gemstone scripting', I think I've come out of the closest long ago.
As far as scripts go for hunting from 0-25... you'll find I've released a whole bunch that will do just that on these forums.
Search in this forum for topics containing "The correct"

Then take the correct, use it as a templete and mod it for different critters, that's what I did/do.

I've never script hunted. Ever. Not that i'm proud of that or anything, I just never looked into script hunting.

I think the people who script hunt are us nerdy types who are like hmmm... I spend hours of my time doing repetive hunting tasks... where if this were anything else I would have writin a prog to do it years ago.
I think Kranar does take the cake though, writing a front-end to write better scripts. chuckle. well done.

I played GS III for three years and got one character to level 20. (1996-1999)
I came back to try GS IV. I didn't have more than two hours a week for it, so I wrote a few scripts. I got my character to level 30 in two months using AFK scripting. I am not sure what the point was...but I actually had more fun writing the scripts then I did playing the game.
I always felt the reptitive aspect of the game is exceedingly annoying: the game is built around spending ridiculous amounts of time hunting. Even with triple exp bonus, this game isn't for the casual gamer. I think Simutronics is missing the boat here.

You've got to be the biggest loser on the face of the earth if you are too lazy to depress keyboard buttons. Thats only slightly better than saying you are too lazy to think, or breathe!
Change that to its too damn boring then maybe I'll understand.

Thats for sure, and with the more recent changes its actually become difficult in the lower levels. Not difficult in the sense that you can learn the proper skills, and use tactics, its difficult in that tons of low level critters have impossible man attacks and now since large groups are unapproachable for the average player even the good hunting areas have become a death zone.
I don't know who is making decisions but the recent force vs force stuff doesn't seem to solve any problem I've ever heard of, but sure is sucking the fun out of hunting. This from a <20 level perspective.

Not at all. In fact, they're just going along with the trend. This is what EVERY MUD/MMORPG is about, pretty much. They're no different than FFXI, Star Wars, World of Warcraft, Everquest. It's really all the same.
Honestly, I find Gemstone a little more fun that all that. At least it involves a bit more customization/open ending than other games and combat requires an active role, not "Engage, watch your guy swing his sword/shoot his gun, use a special power every minute"

Okay. I should amend my statement: the whole industry is missing the boat.
It seems there should be someone clever enough to recognize and implement a strategy for MMORP gaming that doesn't require twenty hours a week. Come on, the video game industry is bigger than Hollywood, and yet we still get poorly devised games, sloppy programming and terrible writing. Just play KOTOR II and you'll see what I am talking about.
I found myself at odds with the MMORPG world because I have a job and a wife. Isn't there someone clever enough to write a MMORPG that can be played two hours a week and still be enjoyed?
GSIV can be a very compelling world, but if I started playing from scratch, my next character would make Lord in 2008.
How do people make it to level 100?

Heh if it were not for Kranar Id probably not have any of my alts past 10... now as far as my main he picks boxes for his learning so I dont much script that, Id be sure to set off several explosions before I got it right.

I script hunt, I don't deny that, I just won't attach my name to any script that isn't my own. As i mentioned in the post I haven't written or read any of them, but that's because i write and use my own.

Script hunting is what makes money. The only other way of making money in Gemstone is merchanting. And unless you have a ton of RL money, luck and friends, you're never going to get into the higher echelons of rich anyway. Hunting manually will get rich 100x slower than a script will.

So what kinda scripts are out there for lower 20's? Wouldnt it be harder for a class like a rogue to hunt, because of the multiple things required to hunt said creature? i.e. hide, aim, ambush, rehide, ambush, loot?
Im just curious as ive never tried or looked into script hunting but Id be interested in checking something like that out just for the knowledge

20 and under all classes can just sit in the open and swing with no problems. The key is to realize that you might have to hunt the entire time in a stance other than offensive (OMG I KNO!!) I tend to put my guys in forward stance which generates enough DS to prevent getting hit for more than 1 or 2 damage (no wounds that way) and enough AS to kill even if it does take 3 shots on one critter.

I don't script hunt but heavily script/macro every other mundane task. I have a script for about every rogue guild task.
If I ever get around to it...I'd like to take Zmud (Advanced APIs) and Alice(http://www.alicebot.org/) and hook them together. That could make for some real fun.
