hiding mechanics

quick mechanics question, who would hide more reliably?

a level 50 giantman rogue 2x in hiding and class bonuses

or

a level 50 giantman ranger 2x in hiding with all applicable spells (1x/level to 650)

Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure the ranger. I think being 3x in hiding puts you on par with a ranger + spells if not slightly better.

That's not necessarily true, different races have varying and huge differentials in bonuses for hiding in certain environments, as do classes. Rangers would likely be better in "woodland" environments, but the rogue will almost always be better in caves/buildings/etc provided they are the same race.
