So, most people probably don't anyways... But unfiltered tap water all over the country is pretty fucked up with unhealthy levels of chromium 6. Chromium 6 is a genotoxic carcinogen that has been linked to lung cancer. Here is an interactive map to see how fucked up your water is. From what I can tell, .02 PPB is what California has deemed as "acceptable". I'm at .07 here in Caddo Parish.

POST YOUR CHROMIUM INFESTATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a cheap(er) reverse osmosis filter that gets rid of it... Has decent reviews and all that. $178 isn't that bad. Apparently regular filters, like Britas and PURs don't remove the shit.

I grew up on hose water. Still, best not to keep drinking garbage if you don't have to.

Exactly. I don't think I've ever had either of those beers though. I've never even heard of Stroh's.

I have a filter, it came with the house. Well water tasted horrendous but hey, you gotta make it work when it's the only fucking thing coming out of the faucet and you're not able to buy bottled water.

Probably. Water filters love having their filters replaced. Shit is annoying.

This chromium thing is a lot more relevant for young children though. It apparently fucks with brain development, which is probably why people from California are so dumb.

I'm only giving my child the purest water from Canada. Melted by Lumberjacks.

I find it really ironic that a place called "Yolo County" has the highest. 7.3 in Maricopa County, AZ but we always knew the tap water was garbage here so we never drank it even when I was a kid.

7.3 Average.. Shit.
Range: ND - 62.00 ppb. I'm guessing it's higher in Apache Junction and that's why we have a bunch of brainless, toothless rednecks living there. It's not JUST inbreeding.

So why so much chromium 6 all over the country? How did this happen? Do we blame Obama or Bush?

We blame Warren G. Fucking Harding.

Here is a pretty decent article on it...

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/chromium-6-wash-many-drinking-supplies/

Basically, it comes from any and everywhere. Industrial projects can cause it, welding, and coal mining and all that... It occurs naturally too though, so of course it is very difficult to be rid of on the city/county side. Pretty much just need a filter in each home.

This is certified to remove Chromium

It is a pitcher, and only around $30.

So could you put a turd in the water and use this to filter that water and it be potable?

0.109 in the Seattle-area.

I've apparently lived in Chromium-6-infested counties my whole life... San Diego, Twin Cities MN, Champaign-Urbana, King County WA...
