I rarely pull my empath out of her box..but every time I do, I remember why I  1106 so much. The wording of the spell SO fits my empaths RP, and it SO fun to watch hit.

>You channel at a rotting farmhand.
You concentrate intently on a rotting farmhand, and a pulse of pearlescent energy ripples toward her!
CS: +174 - TD: +104 + CvA: +20 + d100: +67 == +157
Warding failed!
The rotting farmhand shudders with severe convulsions as pearlescent ripples envelop her body.
The rotting farmhand is crushed for 65 points of damage!
... 50 points of damage!
Massive blow to chest collapses sternum!
... 50 points of damage!
Hard strike removes the right eye and a goodly bit of skull!
The rotting farmhand wails in terrifying pain one last time and lies still.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.
Roundtime: 3 sec.

I think the spell is a little too powerful... but I love it for now. I'm thinking of using the fixskills we got to ditch my 2x spell aim and forget about 111 and 1110. 1106 can take ya straight to cap!

It isn't too powerful. I think its wonderfully balanced. You notice how much so when you underhunt with it. Using spells like 302, 720, 910 etc, while underhunting, I can pretty much get a one hit kill. It still takes three or four hits with 1106 though, though the death crit is a lot more common.

I'd never ditch my empath's spell aim. There are too many critters that you can't shatter, that I like to hunt. Not to mention I hunt with wands and rods a lot, too, and I can use all of them effectively.

Bone shatter is the greatest thing ever as far as being an Empath is concerned. If you train yourself right you won't even miss being able to use EA or that crappy fireball thing. I never even channel it anymore. Look at this damage factor:
>inc 1106
You focus your thoughts while chanting the mystical phrase for Bone Shatter...
Your spell is ready.
You gesture at an emaciated hierophant.
You concentrate intently on an emaciated hierophant, and a pulse of pearlescent energy ripples toward her!
CS: +334 - TD: +259 + CvA: +20 + d100: +73 == +168
Warding failed!
The emaciated hierophant shudders with sporadic convulsions as pearlescent ripples envelop her body.
The emaciated hierophant is crushed for 65 points of damage!
... 50 points of damage!
Massive blow to chest collapses sternum!
The emaciated hierophant is stunned!
... 30 points of damage!
Hard strike to left eye pops it!
An emaciated hierophant dies and collapses to the floor.
The very powerful look leaves an emaciated hierophant.
The white light leaves an emaciated hierophant.
The deep blue glow leaves an emaciated hierophant.
An emaciated hierophant seems to lose an aura of confidence.
An emaciated hierophant seems to lose some dexterity.
An emaciated hierophant appears less powerful.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

I liked it better when empaths were little sissies who couldn't kill anyone unless they were around 10 levels above ya.

Dueling so called 'warpuffs' back then was hysterical.

Stick to TSC, puffs.

Boneshatter will not work on Plane 5 of the RIft, as all of those inhabitants are immune. Boneshatter is the only way to hunt in OTF if you're there though. Sometimes I do mix it up since Griffins tend to ward the drastic effects that are common with hitting Ithzir.

As far as power to mana cost ratio, 1106 is quite the weapon for an empath. I dont think it any more powerful than Implosion or Spikethorn.

My empath eats people's heads for those kinds of comments. :P

1106 is nice, but I tend to use 111 more. I just like watching 40-60 point hits on things 10 trains over her head. Reminds me of 910.

Heh. Me, too. Anyone who calls me a puff in game immediately gets a majorly cold shoulder. Out of game, I just think of them as ill-informed.

One well-placed Bone Shatter tends to cure the misconceptions, though.

Heh, yeah, nowadays empaths can pack a punch.

If you had your empath before bonshatter, you're always a puff.

Hulkein says, "Heal me, puff.'
Sweetangelkittykat nods at Hulkein.
Hulkein goes southwest.

It kind of sucks for empaths that they don't have more of a universal black list nowadays like they used to, because the above reenactment can happen all day and you'll always get healing.

Really, now? I was around since before Bone Shatter, and I would hope I'm not a puff. I would heal, yes, but I was hunting quite well all the way up until the switch to GS4, thankyouverymuch.

Sorry, not gonna work. ;)

Hah, so you were the delusional 'warpuff' kind who took 25 minutes and two bathroom breaks to take down a same leveled foe?!?!?!

;)

Sure, you might've come out of the epic 30 minute battle with 6 minors, 3 bleeders, 22 HP, and no mana - But you took down that Krolvin Mercenary, WARPUFF!

I distinctly remember doing very well for my age back in GS3. But that could have been just because I'm awesome.

Stunseed can back me up on this. He remembers Tayre's falchion-swinging days.

PS: I'm going to reactivate my account for the SOLE PURPOSE of bone shattering Hulkein in the face. And then I will cancel again.

How do you shatter someone in the face? I'd like to know.. I know a few people that really need to have the bones in their face leap about and crash into each other.

Hunting an empath pre-boneshatter days was not impossible:

With a weapon:
214 [target]
110 [target]
117
attack [target]

With a wand:
214 [target]
wave wand at [target]

With Fire Spirit
214 [target]
110 [target]
117
111 [target]

Haha, I cancelled that account now so don't bother.

I'm pretty sure Tayre has killed him before though, so that's good enough.

I strictly healed with my empath for 23 trains and then started hunting with her. She's 33 now and swings as well as shatters. Swings when she can't shatter, shatters all the other times. I love hunting with her.

< Stunseed can back me up on this. >

Truly can. At 45, Tayre actually swung harder than Stun. Empaths have/had so many AS boosters available to them. Fuckers.

Well, keep in mind Strom was older than EVERYONE for a while, he was the first one to make ancient (level 100) and was relatively early in the game to make legend. At one point he was the oldest and Thalior was the second oldest but was still at least 10 levels or more behind.

So when do any of you suggest starting to hunt with only Boneshatter/other spells?

I'm hoping to use my edged/caster into the teens and then switch over to pure caster, but I'm not sure how viable it is, really.

Drew2

Probably not until your mid-twenties will you be able to hunt with pure bone shatter.
