The way this works is super annoying especially while grouped. I started a thread on the officials (http://forums.play.net/forums/GemStone%20IV/Empaths/Empath%20Spells/thread/1804296) about it with the hopes that Simu will consider updating to treat it like pretty much any other status effect so that other spells work on sympathized creatures.

Yeah, I always feel like a jackass if I pop 1120 at the moment my buddy pops 335.
Which alway happens, because you fire them both off in big swarms.
I mean I want them to fight for me but I don't care that much about them. I care more that they're wasting their turns hitting each other than any other effect of the spell.

Sympathy (1120) will no longer cause creatures to be considered a part of the empath's group (in terms of being affected by other AoE spells). :)

Sympathy (1120) will no longer cause creatures to be considered a part of the empath's group (in terms of being affected by other AoE spells). :)

Very cool. I find it pretty handy for drawing out/hitting bandits in hiding, and allowing the group to attack them as normal is a big improvement.

Man, that was fast! We should have complained about that YEARS ago. Only problem is that, as of this morning, he broke 410. The changes made it impossible to ewave sympathetic creatures, but I bugged it and posted on the officials, so maybe they'll fix it. On the other hand, 709 now works on sympathetic creatures!
I'm at work so I haven't tested it, but does anyone know if you can 1117 sympathetic creatures now? If so, that's a game-changer in warcamps.

I haven't tested yet but the 1117 wonkiness was acknowledged by Estild so I think his intention was to make it work.

It does indeed work with 1117, which is pretty awesome. Even after the changes, I never really could use 1117 because it meant I couldn't cast 1120. Without 1120 a room full of grim or bandits, for example, will often hit me with maneuvers before I can get a second cast off after I 1117.
1120 also works again with 410. On the forums Estild said it was never broken in the first place, but something must have happened because for a little while yesterday I found that my sorc was casting ewave on sympathetic creatures to no effect (until 1120 wore off). It was how I noticed the changes in the first place.
Either way, I'm glad they fixed this -- it makes a huge difference when hunting with a sorc or cleric. And it's nice to be able to buff my warrior with 215 again without also buffing a room full of grim.
