Well, with the free fixskills coming, and I find myself getting more trains under my belt, I begin to think I need to start looking ahead.

I know the Rift and OTF are quickly approaching. I find myself frustrated knowing that many Rangers become SpikeSorc's later on in life, so I'm going to post my current skills, and am taking ideas into consideration for the future.

Stunseed (at level 52), your current skill bonuses and ranks (including all modifiers) are:
Skill Name | Current Current
| Bonus Ranks
Armor Use..........................| 171 71
Shield Use.........................| 154 54
Combat Maneuvers...................| 154 54
Edged Weapons......................| 208 108
Ambush.............................| 154 54
Multi Opponent Combat..............| 66 14
Physical Fitness...................| 162 62
Dodging............................| 152 52
Harness Power......................| 148 48
Spirit Mana Control................| 122 31
Survival...........................| 140 40
Stalking and Hiding................| 160 60
Perception.........................| 126 33
Climbing...........................| 111 27
Swimming...........................| 45 9

Spell Lists
Minor Spirit.......................| 14

Spell Lists
Ranger.............................| 40

Now, I know hunting in the Rift is going to make me rely on self-cast spells. OTF, I know some things, but for the most part I am ignorant of. I believe to wear other spells, you must have the same amount of ranks in MIU to wear it, for example, to wear Guards, you need 14 ranks of MIU??

My main requirement is that I stay at 70 ranks of Armor Use, and 1x to 1.25x PF for Redux. Regardless of my curiousity, I can't NOT use Betsy < OHE/Shield >.

So....Any rangers want to input?

For OTF it's:

MIU + AS + Mana share (Not sure since it's GS4 but I'd assume all 3 added together) / 3 = The total amount of mana of outside spells you can wear.

Lyonis just recently was able to get into the rift. I was told to get 30 ranks of swimming and climbing from the Ranger that took me there. I got 40 of climbing because Lyonis isn’t going to be the ranger that falls down in from of some sissy waggler. Anyways out of curiosity what CM’s do you have and do you find your hiding effective at just over 1x?

Stunseed has two ranks of cmovement, and is mastered in sidebyside, because Stun always hunts with Jolena. I am still deciding on what to start next, I will prolly get shadowmastery.

Stun doesn't need to hide, luckily the environment I have hunted him in < IceMule/Pinefar > I don't need alot of hiding ranks, or I utilize Camo. In Pinefar, Polar Bears are a bitch to hide on, yet if I Sunburst them, I can hide on them easily.

Ranged rangers are pretty damn strong. Also get up to 120.

Stun will NEVER be Ranged. And won't go over 1x in spells due to groin-grabbingly good Redux.

its time Stun...its time to find yourself that bastard axe and get in the two handed training as well, IT IS TIME!!!

By removing all OHE/Shield ranks, I only get 84 ranks of THW.
It's going to take major reconstructive work to get a two-hander.

But isn't it worth it?!?!?!

I *MIGHT* fixskills to two-handers for a few days til they give us the new one coming, since I've never used Stun's fixskill.

I definitly would see two handers working well for you since you're going a more physical route. If you ever want to swap notes my aim is at the bottom.

Betsy is my personal axe. I don't know if I could ever NOT use it.

In case someone hasn't seen Betsy yet, here it is.

a masterfully crafted massive waraxe.
This masterpiece among weapons features two sharp rolaren crescent blades linked in the middle by a splendid carving of a rearing puma viewed from the side. Elaborately embossed patterns along the sides of the head create sinister shadows regardless of the angle the light strikes them. The smooth bloodwood handle is wrapped in heavy, double-wound leather lanyards studded to the haft to ensure a perfect fit in her master's hand. Deeply engraved into the highly polished endpiece is the name, "Betsy." You also notice a small enchanter's mark.

It's 8x with lightning flares.

Ok, here's a two handed plan for you.

At level 53 with your current stats:

Armor Use: 70
Two-Handed Weapons: 108
Combat Maneuvers: 54
Ambush: 54
Physical Fitness: 65
Dodging: 40
Climbing: 25
Swimming: 25
Stalking and Hiding: 54
Perception: 54
Survival: 54
Arcane Symbols: 10
Magic Item Use: 10
Harness Power: 53
Spells: 54

That's the Stunseed-ified two handed ranger. After this point you can 2x physical fitness until cap and get 1x MIU and 1x Arcane symbols. Or if you can wait a bit on the AS and MIU (till about 70 trains for 20 ranks) I'd have you 1.5x perception which helps with aiming your weapon from ambush.

I think this build would make a pretty brutal open fighter while still being a good ambusher with 608. Once you play with a claid for a little while (and get over AS envy) you'll see it hits way harder than Betsy, or you can just get a 5 or 6x maul which will also hit way harder than Betsy.

Eh I thought Betsy referred to your AC. ::whistle:: Ya, I think I might want to use that axe too.

His AC is Guen.

I think.

Drew

I've never ever seen Stunseed's AC.

Drew2

It's a puma.

Hence all the puma stuff he wears.

Jolena

Yeah Guen is Stun's AC and he doesn't have her out as much as I personally would like him to however his affinity with her is the highest it can be :) I so want to be able to interact more with her then to just brush her or touch her but ah well I have my lizard Fremmy! :roar: Anyhow..he's not going to transfer to two-handers, I can pretty much guarantee it. Betsy is part of his RP and pretty well known as a very nice weapon plus it has history behind it due to his RP. I don't think he will ever give that up, it would be like losing a part of who Stunseed is to not use her.

That being said..I really like the two hander plan you set out Drew..I think he'd be just as brutal as he is now with that plan. But we'll see if he actually does change to two handers and loses the ability to use Betsy.

He really just needs to get that damn axe turned into a bastard axe.

< He really just needs to get that damn axe turned into a bastard axe. >

One of my main goals in life, indeed. I almost bought Tayvin's bastard axe when it was up for sale, I think I should have ponied up the silvers now.

< I've never ever seen Stunseed's AC. >

Guen, the cloudy grey puma, is role-played as protecting Stunseed's children as they go to Triton Dayschool in Solhaven. As most people who know Stunseed in-game, know that his kids are in potential danger. To allow his children to still learn and grow, he sacrifices his companion's presence to keep them safe. Once the role-play currently active is over, I think you will see Guen about more often.

Also, two-handers to use in stock....

an ebon-hafted vultite balestarius with a silver-turned haft
an ancient eagle-hilted claidhmore
