Recommendations on the best weapon type to have ensorcelled? I won one and have no idea about it...

Doesn't have to be a weapon unless it specifically says so. You can also do armor and shields.

The first 'tier' of ensorcelling on any weapon is *very* noticeable. On a runestave, it provides offensive and defensive benefits. On shields and armor you get only that defensive credit. This is also significant if you grow the maximum ensorcelling on *two* defensive pieces for a +20 vs CS.
