dodging probably.

you use ohe/shield?

I believe CM only adds to defense when you are in defensive.

Dodging definitely. I think rogues normally go at least 1x dodging.

Kick your shield down to a flat 1x, and get a small shield if you can.
Raise your dodge to 1x or higher, that right there should make a huge difference.

Which would be a better defense training: 1x in shields and 2x dodging, or 2x shields and 1x dodging?

brawling?

nice skill I just never could afford two weapon skills.

Oops I thought it said 5 brawling not 51..

if you are volning that will be very useful...

I am an ambusher/ohe/shield and I wil eventually have 40 ranks of moc.

I do 1x shield, 1x dodging with mine and she's fine. I don't use any magic at all with her, so eventually redux will kick in, too.

Over all, for point cost and everything. 2x's dodge and 1x's shield is better. My rogue is a pure fighter rogue, and he's 2x's in dodge and 1x's in shield with a 7x's Targe. I've talked to other rogues about the point to payout in training costs, and that's the best way to go I believe.

I see you 3x picking not 2x, but up your dodge, 1x shield, you probably dont have much redux because you dont even 1x PF...very interesting training you have.

I'm also dropping picking and picking up uber armor ranks instead since my DS is gonna get nuked during swarms, might as well just get knicked instead of bashed.

First, choose an armor. Brig is 30 ranks, Hauberk/MBP is 70, plate is 120.

Second, drop a second combat form. I'd suggest brawling. If you want to have two combat forms its recommended you have the skill to use one or the other to a decent degree in combat. At the moment your skills are lacking. Its better to have one uber skill than two semi-decent skills. (This is why semi's suck).

Third, CM does not add DS whatsoever. As a picker/hunter I suggest singling this skill though.

Fourth, 2x Dodge no matter how you train. If you go shield, 1x or 1.5x it.

Your basic training should be

(30/70/120 ranks of armor)
2x Weapon
2x Dodge
(1x Shield)
2x Hide
2x Dodge
1x Ambush
1x PT
1x CM
2x Perception
2x/3x Picking/Disarming

Fit those in, and you can work the other skills around it. That is a core training that will give you a solid rogue good at hunting.

I recommend my training regime for OHE/Shield. Hopefully you are a COL master. If not, eh, Voln sucks. Anyway, this training makes you a very effective hunter and pick 10 levels over your head or so.

Thysan (at level 41), your current skill bonuses and ranks (including all modifiers) are:
Skill Name | Current Current
| Bonus Ranks
Armor Use..........................| 130 35
Shield Use.........................| 143 43
Combat Maneuvers...................| 143 43
Edged Weapons......................| 186 86
Ambush.............................| 186 86
Multi Opponent Combat..............| 25 5
Physical Fitness...................| 186 86
Dodging............................| 186 86
Harness Power......................| 45 9
Disarming Traps....................| 186 86
Picking Locks......................| 186 86
Stalking and Hiding................| 186 86
Perception.........................| 186 86
Climbing...........................| 120 30
Swimming...........................| 50 10
Pickpocketing......................| 143 43

Spell Lists
Minor Elemental....................| 8

At your level, you could have e-wave and about 50-60 mana to help handle swarms as well as the utility that comes with 401-408. Train up to 410, get some HP to get up to 50 or so mana, and kick ass.

Here's my starting stats as a human.

Level 0 Stats for Thysan, Human Rogue

Strength (STR): 70
Constitution (CON): 70
Dexterity (DEX): 77
Agility (AGI): 73
Discipline (DIS): 73
Aura (AUR): 82
Logic (LOG): 73
Intuition (INT): 65
Wisdom (WIS): 57
Influence (INF): 20

And as a rogue, always 2x dodge, no matter what. 2x shield is just dumb. Anything over 1x is a waste of PTP's. Put that into more PF for redux and stamina. Also, 35 armor ranks for minimum MnE hinderance in brig.

Thanks for the advice, I never even thought about the dodging and that seems to be where I have made the mistake. Now I am just waiting for the darned fix skills to go into effect and I am good as gold!

Thanks again.
